Ladies, gentlemen, others, THIS is how you make a guide. No rambling, no explaining that any competent researcher would already have known, just 17 glorious minutes of 'Do this. This will happen. If this happens, it's fine. If this happens, it's not. Don't do this.' Tek Syndicate knows how not to waste my time.
+realevilcorgi I think learning is all about understanding. It';s easy to make mistakes and have no clue of what's wrong if you just follow the steps. For someone who';s new to PC building, I'd recommed some other tutorial. As a person who has built a PC before, I like this guide because it's a quick memory refresh without any of the explaining, so I agree with you. Tek Syndicate cuts to the chase and I like that.
I thought my PC was going to blow up as soon as I pressed the power button :P I guess everyone feels that way with their first PC, though. Thanks for the epic help Tek Syndicate :)
Computers are extremely easy to build now days. All components are made to only fit in their specific spot. The only worry anyone should have about building a computer is applying the thermal paste and heatsink. Everything else literally just plugs into whatever port looks correct.
Gab Springer If they can barely build a computer, they probably aren't going to take their chances with a liquid cooler. Cleaning the liquid cooler has nothing to do with building it anyway. That's maintenance, not the initial build. And unless you actually know what you are doing, you are going to be using an AIO cooler so you won't have to worry about a whole like during the initial build.
I've always been stumped on installing Linux. I know I could follow a text tutorial, but your way of distributing information is very effective for me.
I like how the style of the video is quick, simple and to the point. I have watched a few other more in depth tutorials but this one is easier to follow in a way.
xbradx11 Are you talking about Hackintosh? If so, you just build it like any other computer (but you have to use an Intel CPU, and an Nvidia GPU). Then you have to follow the steps on tonymacx86. Just search how to make a hackintosh.

Great video. Have been building my own gaming machines for over 10 years, and this video definitely covers all the point to get you started. Great job!
***** okay. im probably going to buy windows 8 64 bit. im hearing you can get windows 8.1 for free, but i dont know much about it.
11 лет назад+2
Windows 8.1 comes as a free update to Windows 8 and includes several features that partially responded to users' feedback. Windows 8.1 is already available on DVD and for download from Microsoft. Bying Win8 for the sake of Win8.1 is useless unless the price is lower.
pcpartpicker.com/p/nL2WwP Is this a good build for Crysis 3, Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4, GTA 5 (when is comes out), GTA 4, Battlefield Hardline, The Witcher 3, Dying Light, Mirror's Edge, Rust, DayZ, War Thunder, Tomb Raiders, Alien Isolation, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Thief, Saints Row IV/ Gat Outta Hell, Trials Fusion, Metro: 2033, BioShock Infinite, Trine 2, The Walking Dead, and Batman Arkham Knight?
Should be able to handle most stuff you throw at it for 1080p gaming, although there may be some issues with FarCry 4 because that game is extremely badly optimized. I'm not sure if you could be maxing out those games but you could certainly give it a try. Really good budget build.
Watched and followed this guide while making my first own computer last week from scratch. I have now a working desktop with windows 10 ready for fallout 4/ gta 5 / and the witcher 3. Thank you for this amazing guide/ one thing i did wrong/forgot, when you put the powercable in the motherboard, please mention there are 2 different cables you need to plug in the board.
Thank you! Switching from PS3 here (I will NOT pay a subscription fee for a distribution platform). Bought an Asus G75 laptop a few years back and wasn't satisfied, so I really want to get my hands dirty and build a beast. This video helped a ton, as did the thermal paste one. :)
Great tutorial but the only thing missing was a little bit about airflow principles and a little guide about how to install the fans. Obviously, it's a simple principle - front/bottom to rear/top of the case but newbies might not know that. Also, not all fans have the little arrows showing which direction they go so perhaps a quick mention that fans generally flow away from the side with the 4 plastic support struts and sucks in from the other side. Totally impressed that you managed to fit this into 15 minutes (plus the intro) though. Nice and easy for them to follow too!
Just wanted to mention guys, Logan you should know better, a PSU actually draws air in from the bottom and exhausts out the back of the case. So it makes no difference really to the other hardware if it's mounted at the bottom. So it wouldn't "squirt heat all over your CPU" actually =P It's simply for a cooler PSU at the bottom as well as aesthetics.
Shouldn't be difficult for anyone who's patient. You should check with r/buildapc or tek syndicate forums if you have any questions. Those guys are really helpful.
A close of friend turned my attention to this channel. I have to say that the more I watch the more I am tempted to leave the Xbox 360 I got 5 years ago as my last console for a while.
You make putting on the AMD fan so easy. I had to take a pair of pliers to mine in order to get it to even attach onto the nub. No cpu was not damaged since I'm obviously watching and responding to this vid.
i used to be a console gamer then i went to college and i got my first custom built PC so i can do my homework and and run Photoshop. A little down the road i discovered steam and very soon after PC gaming and I'm so fucking happy when i started to play games on my PC, its was so fucking awesome, it became hard to look at console gaming the same, I still saw why its is still necessary, but PC gaming is just so fucking awesome and i always game on my PC now, so fucking i discovered PC gaming
wow, for my first custom computer, i used the newegg videos. looking at this now, i could have avoided many problems and saved a lot of viewing time watching this video. didnt know you guys had one of these videos at the time of building my computer :(
It's the Fractal Design Arc Midi. I'd go for the Define R4 though. It's around the same price and extremely sleek. Plus, it's has sound-proofing features so it runs super quiet. There's a windowed side panel version that's actually cheaper than the Arc Midi. The standard version is $110. There's also the option of Titanium Grey and Arctic White, whereas the Arc Midi only has one color scheme. Anyway, this is a great build guide. Very concise and not lengthy at all.
As a new pc gamer (I've always been a Playstation dude) I think this is a really nice vid. Hopefully my first attempt at making a gaming pc is successful
Despite my qualms with this channel and the direction it headed, I still use this video as my default video to throw at people who are learning to build computers for the first time.
The wisofmasta: it doesn't matter which way you mount your psu (power supply) some cases allow you to mount either facing up or down. If your psu goes at the top face it fan facing down. If at the bottom some cases allow you facing up or down, mine has a filter at the bottom of the case so i can face mine down or up. If you dont have a filter there but just solid metal there face it up. Hope this helps you!
I recommend viewing several ones. This one is great for a quick but still quite extensive overview, however to really cover everything, I would also watch the guide from newegg. I think they explain certain eventualities quite well and they even cover installation of OS and drivers.
although i may still buy ps4. this and many other channels like it have turned me into a PC enthusiast. just wanna build one myself. got my parts all picked out. just saving the cash
You CAN overclock with stock fan, but once you get to turbo boost clocks and higher temps will rise fast! Get a $30-$40 air cooler if you want some light over clocking e.g.. 4.2ghz, or a water-cooling setup as shown in this video for $100 ish to achieve higher clocks. even if you don't overclock aftermarket coolers are nice to keep temps generally lower
8GB is a great choice, Most games don't utilize anywhere close to 8GB of allocated memory anyway, The only case you will need >12GBs of ram is if you render a lot of 3D Models in programs such as Cinema4D or AutoCAD. Hope this helped :D
This is a good watch for me. I am building tomorrow. I am going to be going with stock CPU cooler till I could upgrade to the H100 and add a second Vid card in there.
Love those Fractal cases and this one looks sweet paired with that Sabertooth motherboard. The case alone looks clean in design to me and the color scheme and layout of the Sabertooth is just as appealing. Nice info. Thx for posting.
I play on PC because I like how it is FAR MORE future proof than a console and u can do all at the same time: game, browse web, play more games, better multiplayer, and u can record it, consoles are like 10,000,000,000 light years before computers
It really depends on how many resources you're using. If you're a pretty heavy multi-tasker and have multiple browser tabs open, a game open, and maybe running a video editing program all at the same time then you're going to notice a difference. 4GB is generally considered "good enough," but it's not necessarily ideal. RAM is so cheap now, and it's nice to have the extra headroom for multitasking. New consoles have 8GB of RAM now though, so that means more games are going to be using more ram
09:40 PSU: "We're gonna install this in the bottom and the fan is gonna face down meaning all the hot air is gonna exhaust at the bottom of the case." Unless you've opened up that PSU and flipped that fan this is not going to work how you're claiming it will be. PSU's in general and this one isn't an exception suck the air in from the Fan mounted side and blow it out at the back ( where the Switch and Power Cable are located ). Buying a Case that would have allowed the Installation above the CPU would played well with the natural convection effect of heat that goes up from Components like CPU, RAM, GPU, etc... getting sucked through the PSU outside without an additional fan installed.
Thanks, and yeah, I'm getting the i7 4770k and the MSI G65 Gaming Motherboard with the MSI Gaming Series GTX 770! If you get select video cards on Amazon you get Splinter Cell Blacklist free!
The hot air from the PSU is going to exhaust through the back of the pc, not the bottom. The fan is pulling air from the bottom of the case...I think. :) And great video btw - really good job! :)
Yes, and yes. Make sure you put money into your GPU though! You want a balanced system! Many people mess up by spending $50 on a GPU then wonder why their 'fast' computer for gaming doesn't work so well. I'd recommend an Radeon HD 7850 or GTX 650 ti Boost for your budget along with an i3 Sandy or Ivy Bridge CPU. They're great for a tight budget. An AMD CPU would also work if you could squeeze it in like an FX 6300. And yes, I know you didn't ask for help on parts :) Trying to help.
Thank you! This video is very useful and espeshially I like comments and explenation! It's helping me to improve my current skills! You're a very smart guy!

Buying a Case that would have allowed the Installation above the CPU would played well with the natural convection effect of heat that goes up from Components like CPU, RAM, GPU, etc... getting sucked through the PSU outside without an additional fan installed.
Excellent guide! Edutainment at its best.
I love that case too :3 Such timeless and elegant design.
His intros are the best
Thanks, and yeah, I'm getting the i7 4770k and the MSI G65 Gaming Motherboard with the MSI Gaming Series GTX 770! If you get select video cards on Amazon you get Splinter Cell Blacklist free!
I 'm also 13, my PC is 2 or 3 years old, it runs bf3, med settings, recoding with DxTory, and I Get 50 fps, 80 when not reording! It's awesome.
nice table of contents concept there dude. like that. subbed just for that
My main source is Newegg, but Best Buy sells radiators, power supplies, and graphics cards for cheaper. They also sell really nice keyboards and mice.
These were better times, for me and for a few.
The hot air from the PSU is going to exhaust through the back of the pc, not the bottom. The fan is pulling air from the bottom of the case...I think. :)
And great video btw - really good job!
