The first time I saw this scene Ryan seemed a bit off, or pushy, but I figured he's just being awkward. It's completely different after you've seen the rest of the movie.
My ex even said to me: "women don't like nice guys." Wish I'd had the knowledge back then that I do now. But, there were plenty of red flags. Women - trust your gut ALWAYS
I haven't seen the movie, but this guy seems like a keeper. I'm guessing things don't work out that way though. Clever and witty doesn't necessarily mean he's a decent human being. Though cleverly and wittily self-effacing seems to point to someone with a healthy attitude.
Things don’t work out that way, but he definitely never seemed like a keeper. What on Earth gave you that impression from this clip? He drank the coffee she spat in and enjoyed it (disgusting and perverted). He asked for her number while she was working in a customer service role, which has always been a big no-no. When she gave him a fake number (the CLEAREST signal of “I’m not interested, asshole”) he came back to harass her for her real one. At her place of work. Every sign pointed to creepy from the beginning.

Yes, it is disgusting that she spat in his coffee. Asking for a number while someone is working in a customer service role has always been a big no-no? I did not know that. Now that you say it, I can kind of see it. He came back to "harass" her for her real number? Hmmmm. Valid, I would say. As to why he seemed to me like a keeper: 1. He was very clever and quick-witted. I find intelligence attractive. 2. He let himself be the brunt of the joke--even contributing to it--suggesting he doesn't take himself too seriously. 3. He had enough self-confidence to come back for a second try, yet didn't come off as arrogant.
@@sola_a "'second try' or men could just take a rejection for once?" Are you seriously suggesting that men never take no for an answer the first time? And how about this: How many men have you asked out? (I'm assuming that you are a straight female. Correct me if I am mistaken.) If your answer is "Zero," then I don't think you are in a position to criticize people who do what you don't have the guts to do.
@@RUclipsallowedmynametobestolen I'm bisexual and have asked men out several times lmao. But even if I didn't, she clearly wasn't interested and he just did not take that for an answer. It takes a lot to ask someone out, but that is not an excuse to ignore their obvious rejection. No one ows you anything just because it takes courage The only point I'm trying to make here is that men need to take no for an answer more. And yes, in my experience men constantly need to be told no 10 times before they even take it seriously. It shouldn't have to be this way. His behavior is just disturbing. He put her in an extremely uncomfortable situation and wouldn't budge even after she basically said no again. That's not cute. I know movies try to say it is, but I know I'd be terrified and many others would to based on this comment section
And then she says "no" to this mealy mouthed offer, takes the promotion, gets the heck out of town away from her abusive classmates and lives her best life.
A very tragic relationship ultimately, but I think it's genius to highlight that you just NEVER know who you can/should trust, even the "nice guys" :/
To quote a charming musical, "nice doesn't mean good."

This movie was great, it was a thriller in every sense. I seriously was on the edge of my seat. Loved the soundtrack as well.

And Nihilism by Muna is playing in the back 😃 I was wondering in which scene that had used this song
