Same goes for SM-58, that shares the same capsule as the SM-57, at the same price, but has a big grill that works as pop filter. It's built like a tank and you can find very good used ones at 25% less! You can't go wrong with the 57 and 58. Ah! Also they are the "to go" mics for drums and guitar amps! Multiuse!
They are definitely work horse mics. I've mostly used SM57s for recording, and SM58s for live performance. I haven't messed with using SM58 for recording yet.

Have an SM7B, you need a preamp, and you need to learn how to EQ it to get the best sound.
Yeah, it's a great mic. There are some extra things you have to do make the most of it.
