With its long days and short nights, summertime is a great time to be in Helsinki. This was our second visit to the Finnish capital, and we were excited as ever to experience it for a couple of days. With summer in full swing, we enjoyed dinners al fresco, boat trips to nearby islands, and lots of walking around town. Here's a look at how we spent our time in Helsinki:
This is a city that comes alive during the summer months, and it was great enjoying all the events taking place in the city as well as relaxing outdoors. We loved revisiting Helsinki and we discovered so many new places that we had completely skipped over the first time around.

The most fascinating thing about your videos is that as natives we don't really know how to appreciate these things foreigners, tourists and backpackers show. We just take it all for granted.
Tyrone Kingston Thanks, that is so true. Sometimes you need an outsider's perspective to appreciate what you have back home.
Wow, dinner from the sky, that's crazy - Not sure if I could relax enough to eat! Great video Samuel & Audrey, Helsinki looks like such a pleasant city in the summer.
Mark Wiens I know what you mean! I preferred filming it as opposed to experiencing it. Neither of us enjoy heights and I'd be worried about dropping something ;)
Oh hi ying
One of my favourite places in Hesinki was Ravintola Kantis on Ruoholahdenkatu, an small old fashioned restaurant / bar where the beer was cheap and they played old Finnish folk songs, just down the road was a proper Turkish kabab house and then on to my girlfriends appartment - very happy days.
+Allan McDigger That's really cool. We miss Helsinki.
This video is really amazing! It makes me want to live in Finland more than before!
Great video! I'm from finland and you managed to show the best places to really represent finland! Thank you for that! If you really want to experience something unique you should visit finland in the winter, for example lapland has the most beautiful scenery during winter with reindeer and nordic lights. Im sure you would appreciate it.
so mappesto thank you very much! We'd love to come during the winter months someday - definitely a dream of ours :)
Hi from Russia! I'm very like you'r video. I was in Helsinki 5 days in summer 2013. I was almost everywhere where you were. Thank you! Have a nice days :)
Thank you for the video! Its good, I go there for my summer holiday!
Thank you! Best time to visit :)
@Như Phương, I totally agree with you!
Why you 2 dont go in linnanmäki
I loved Helsinki in the winter but it looks like so much more fun in the summer. Nice video from Samuel & Audrey on what to do in this great city.
Ayngelina Brogan thank you! We had a great time there :)
I'm going to Helsinki this summer for an Urban Planning Internship with the City Planning Department. It'll be a ton of fun. Thanks for the video guys!
How exciting! Hope you have a great time :)

Omg this video was really amazing! I live in Helsinki and I think this video brings up the best side perfectly! And it would be so cool to meet you guys, I've been watching and enjoying your videos! :) Hopefully you're visiting Finland again! And as I am a 15 years old girl I have to say that Linnanmäki, the amusement park is also worth seeing ;)
I love the information that I get from your video.
+Dalia Lourenço (Getting Close to) Thank you very much!
The graveyard and beach at Hietaniemi in the west is very nice to visit.
Thanks for sharing that tip Joey!
Hey there :-) Just discovered you guys while looking for vids on Salmiakki (my guilty pleasure). I have family in Helsinki so I visit frequently. I love love love these videos! If you have a chance, you should visit in winter as well. When it's 20-30 below zero, a Salmiakki vodka is one of the best things to warm up. In the morning, a cofee at Cafe Regatta on the water will warm you up. Also, you need to try the fast food at a Helsinki 'Grilli', one of the late night hamburger stands you'll find throughout the city. There is also a very active live music scene. One of the best shows I ever attended was the Von Hertzen Brothers who traditionally play on New Year's Eve at the Virgin Oil Club. Last but not least, the Academic bookstore opposite Stockmann is quite an amazing place. Keep up the awesome vids!!
Wout Wynants thank you very much! We'd love to visit in the winter and to be warmed by Salmiakki vodka :)
Thank you Samuel and Audrey l going to Hensinki on November next
Thank you Den! That is exciting to hear!
2:36 Excuse me Mr. Crane Operator, I have to shit, please hurry this thing down, fast!! lol ;)
+Levi Clays LOL
Finland certainly is beautiful and is much like where I live in northern New Hampshire. Nice video!
NewHampshireBoy Thanks! That is fascinating to hear it is similar to where you live. I'd love to visit New Hampshire someday.
I saw this video since we will be in Helsinki June 2019 Thank you guys
Thanks Effie! That is so exciting you'll be visiting soon!
you guys are so cute when Sam was trying to wobble the kayak! haha
Hahaha...thank you. That was a funny memory.
Molto simpatici
I LOVE HELSINKI! And I need to find that Salmiakki store the next time :)
Great video :)
Richi992 thank you! That's great to know and best of luck trying all of those salmiakki products at the kiosk :)
Best video ever .
Yeah, I do believe that Helsinki is among those cities in Finland that every time you come back, you'll discover something new.
now i have watched all your finland videos and thumbs up from me!! You should come here in winter too
xboxdonitsi thank you very much! We sure miss Finland and would love to visit in the winter sometime :)
I'm traveling to Helsinki in August 2017 on my own and came across your video while searching for things to do in Helsinki. The bike ride and kayaking look like a perfect way to explore the city and see the great outdoors of Finland too. Hopefully I can sign up with a group and go while I''m there. I have friends who live there that I'll be seeing for the majority of the trip and can't wait to experience a taste of Finnish lifestyle.
That is really cool to hear! August will be a great time to visit :)
Great job, thanks
Thank you!
I have been to Helsinki, seen those churches, the Presidential Palace, the Sebelius Momuments. Stayed a nice hotel, forget the name. Had dinner at Carlitos with a famous Financial advisor with my last name and a Lawyer named Markuu Laine.
I used to live next to that Salmiakkikioski when I was a kid :) Töölö is a lovely neighborhood, good memories!
Matias Kautto Very cool! Yeah, it is a great neighborhood. I miss Helsinki and I miss Salmiakki these days.
Well the city isn't going anywhere! You can always come back.
Matias Kautto , hoping to come back this summer or winter. We'll back in Europe again so it is on our radar :)
Enjoyedyour video :)
My friend, whom I am visiting in Finland sent it to me, so I could see some of things available to do.
I'll be going in June, just in time for the Festival of Light :)
Extremely excited!
Thanks for sharing :)
Anita Sisler Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful time in Finland!
Thank you for this amazing video! You really caught the feeling of Helsinki summer :) I work here as a tour guide and this is what I want all my tourist to see and experience
Maarit Liljendahl thank you! It's a very laid back, fun and sophisticated city in the summer. I'm curious to visit sometime in the winter :)
Samuel & Audrey Of course you can take a look around in winter time, but the weather can be pretty bad and depressing. If it's a good winter and cold enough it can be okay, but I suggest you head north to really enjoy the Finnish winter. Although Helsinki is much more north than most Canadian cities, the climate is a bit warmer, I think. But up north you can see some amazing landscapes if you travel around on skis, snowmobile or whatever you prefer. There's a lot of activities you can try out, and there's nothing like a good warm sauna after a cold winter's day.
Best winter months are late January or February. December is just dark dark dark and not as cold with a lot of rain instead of snow. Obviously, hard to predict next year's weather, but that's how it usually goes. Some winters are better than others. As Finland is not as commercially obsessed with Christmas as North Americans are, the decorations won't probably be as excessive, although it is one of the most important holidays. People just do their own thing. And go to the sauna, of course. In Rovaniemi, there's a Santa's Village, however, which should be open at least all winter.
You are one of the few foreigners who love Salmiakki !!
aspdeepak4yt Yes! I find it crazy more people don't like it.
The Salmiakki Kiosk apparentely is already closed. It only went on until summer 2015. I looked it up becuase i really wanted to go there. Well, I hope I will find Salmiakki products all over town anyhow. :-)
Oh no! That is sad to hear. You can find them at most supermarkets to be honest and the Fazer ice cream and chocolate are two of my favorites.
You should totally visit some other cities like Levi (a really popular ski city)and you should come in the winter too
+MayOnline Thanks for the suggestions! Hope we can visit soon.
If you come back, you could visit a few of the metrostations (Vuosaari for example) I think you were cayaking there at Natura Viva (Sorry for bad spelling) but yeah. Great video!
Nothing to see here! Thanks for the suggestions! We'd definitely like to come back to explore more of Helsinki :)
That was filmed while i was visiting finland too... damn i missed most of these places eith the tour.
You guys surely know how to make people wanna visit a place like Finland! :)
slimbeast thank you! It is our goal to help inspire others to visit places :)
Samuel & Audrey That's so cute. I would love to visit Finland! :)
Thanks for the nice video. You covered almost everything to see in Helsinki. Did you try the muikku? It is sardine like fish that is deep-fried and can be served on top of mashed potatoes. I tried it the Sea Horse Restaurant. It was pretty good.
Thank you! OH, we didn't get to try that.. It sounds delicious though.
In 6:43 from the 2nd house from the left thats where i live soo thanks to put my house in the video :)
jon Lindberg Wow! That's so cool :)
Good job!

That is great to hear! It should be a wonderful time of year to visit :)
Samuel & Audrey you came extremely good time, because its raining so much in Finland on summer :D Nice to see you got there bright and sunny time, i hope you liked finland as much as i :D (I'm from finland) And ofc i were on Helsinki, 4:57, i was on that Sokos Hotel Presidentti, that is on backround :P
The Rrandomm we certainly did luck out with the weather! I hope we can return again soon :)
Finland seems like an amazing country and you guys do a great job of showing it. I just hope i pass my exams so that i can live there. *fingers crossed!
JOKBO1 thank you very much! Best wishes with passing your exam so that you get to live in Helsinki :)
Thanks guys. :)
me to eagerly waiting to reach 2016 as a student
8:00-8:03 I think that's because Finland is so much farther from the Equator than Missouri, where I come from. Here in Missouri, the sun typically sets BEFORE 9:00.
That is true Brady! Imagine how long the winters must be!
Excellent place
Thanks! I agree with you.
Hello, this video is excellent! :) My partner and I are thinking of going to Helsinki next month.. I don't suppose you have any advice please? Also, where were you and with what company did you do the Kayaking? I'd love to kayak under the moonlight. :) Also also, could you tell me what your favorite things were to do and what your favorite islands were to visit please and how you got to them? Thank you muchly, Ni. :) x
Helsinki Cathedral only LOOKS all white. I spotted about four different (albeit gradual) shades of paint in there. Light greens, taupes and cremes
wonderful i think it's a good place to live for sure
Yeah, it is very relaxed for being the capital city.
Lol I love your videos. As a finn, I really enjoy watching your videos that are filmed in my country :) If you're still coming to Finland some day, it would be awesome to meet you :D
DJ LuFin And by the way, I think you should go to the cities of Tampere or Turku too.
DJ LuFin Thank you! We're hoping to return to Finland again this year :)
DJ LuFin Thanks for the suggestions!
Ever been to Australia? I want to go there soooooo bad!
Salmiaki is fine. I will be in Estonia for a few years and will be traveling to helsinki a lot of times. HAHA
You're gonna be eating a lot of it then!
hey guys, great video.... how many days do you recommend for helsinki... we have a layover and trying to decide if two days should suffice....do let me now (ps the wabble on the boat was the best part :P)
Krati Chhajer Thanks! In two days you can see a lot of the city. If you can spend more time definitely budget it; however, if not 2 days should be enough to see quite a bit.
Nice video guys! Looks like an interesting place. Sam sure does love his SAlMiakki & SAlMon. How about SpAM, SAMosas and SAMbuca? He's probably got a SAMsung phone as well....ha ha.
Jim.

Have you ever went to Korkeasaari? It's a zoo in Helsinki and the oldest zoo in the country.

Thank you! It would be so fun to go back in the winter. I would definitely watch a hockey game :)
I love helsinki Finland
Same here!
How well are you prepared to do all this ? Did you have an local helper while filming ? How do you find all these places...? SALMIAKKI was the BEST - someone else likes salmiakki - not born here. I didnt know there was any... Even Estonians dont like it !
markus holopainen We had been to Helsinki once before and we also had some really good advice from a few local friends :)
Dear viewers, espcially those who will travel in low budget. Ive been to Helsinki, and if you do everything they are doing in the video, youd have to use more than 100 euros a day. So... skandinavia. Everything too expensive. (+ sleeping, + transportation = approx. 130 a day in average)
Yeah, it is not cheap to travel in Finland but I think it is still a rewarding experience.
Not quite true. I'm from Helsinki, and for example, the public transportation is relatively cheap. And today, long-distance trains are inexpensive, eg. Helsinki - Tampere 15-18 €. You can stay at the hostel, they have offers like 20 to 50 € a night and they are nice and clean. All you need to do is some research in advance and you'll be fine. Housing prices are crazy here though...our apartment, 3 rooms and kitchen + bathroom with a sauna is worth 800K and we're living in Ruoholahti. Anyway, I love this city, it's an ultra modern city but still we have our historic center plus sea and nature nearby. It's wonderful 😊
how would i be able to get a private tour guide in finland
Next time you come to Finland, you should come to Pohjanmaa aka Finnish Texas.. :D Helsinko is so overrated. We have so muchh to offer here in pohjanmaa. Best place in Finland... ;)
+Elias Klemola Thanks for the suggestion! We're really keen to see more of Finland. Hopefully we can come again soon :)
You two are a gorgeous couple ! :)
Manutallu Thank you very much!
hey guys... am planning to spend 1 day in Helsinki before connecting my flight to Budapest and continue my winter vacation or after Buda and on my way back to Singapore. What do you recommend to do and see?
I'd suggest focusing in the downtown area where you can visit most of the main attractions on foot which are not too far from each other.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I agree. Have listed a few places to do. Thanks guys :)
When IS This ? Summer or Winter ?
Hi guys whenever you feature a food particularly a street food, please mention the prize. Many thanks.
Thanks! Sure! We've been better about doing that lately.

Why do you need free advertising at gofinland.info/?
The answer is really simple- there is no such thing as too much advertising.
We invest considerable amounts of money and time to make your ad visible to search engines and, ultimately, to be found by customers.
Please, make sure you name your ad the way it reflects the nature of the business and location. Example: James’s Cafe and Bakery in Brighton. Or, best restaurant in Helsinki.
My grandfather lives in the helsinki
Otto Tarvainen Very cool!

I live in helsinki
Cool to hear!
But winter season brings darkness and depression..
there is a reason why Helsinki cathedral is not elaborately decorated as most of the other European churches... its because it belongs to other religion branch. Finland is not roman catholic (very decorative churches), but evangelists (plain and simple)
Why the hell is the title and description translated with google translate that looks horrible
