The "Football doesn't matter..." things was a protest of Legia Warsaw ( football club of the polish capital ) fans against a decision of the UEFA ( ruling association of european Football ) in 2014. During a qualifying round of the UEFA Champions league, the Legia defeated Celtic Glasgow on the pitch but was later kicked out of the competition for having fielded an uneligible player ( the fact is the guy played only 2 minutes as a substitue at the end of the game when he was supposed to be suspended for a red card received the precedent season... when he came to play, with only 2 minutes remaining as i said, Legia was 5 goals ahead of Celtic... so it was a stupid mistake, not any kind of cheating ).
Wether it's true or not, Legia's fans thought their victory was denied with the first possible pretext cause they are a poor and not well known club in comparison of western Europe clubs.
Hence the words saying UEFA care only about money.

Haha yeah man. I'm an American who grew up in the South; I've lived in Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky. Growing up, I was a huge Florida Gators fan, so I went to see games like Florida v Georgia, Florida v LSU, Florida v FSU, and so on. I also got to see some Iron Bowls, some post-season bowl games in Atlanta and Orlando, and stuff like that. I've been to see the Saints, Broncos, Bengals, Buccs, and Falcons in the NFL. So yeah, I basically felt like the Iron Bowl was probably the best atmosphere I'd seen in America outside of the Tebow days at UF. Then I went to see some soccer in Germany. Dude, for me, there is no comparison. Jumping and singing and chanting for 90+ minutes with the passion that they show over in Europe was phenomenal. I remember coming back to the US and going to my first American football match after that. Instead of these specific, creative, passionate songs, people were just singing "we will rock you," "DE-FENSE," and stuff like that. Even the unique chants over here just pale in comparison. The Denver Broncos do this cool thing where everyone yells "IN-COME-PLETE" when a catch is dropped. It does sound awesome, but it's so short and fleeting in comparison to this passion that just persists throughout a football or basketball match abroad. Even after the matches people are singing in the streets and it's just so cool.

In europe we laugh a lot at the "DE-FENCE" chant... For example let's take my favourite team: Liverpool, from United Kingdom. THey have 1 official anthem (YNWA), 1 unofficial anthem (dua lipa- one kiss) which is because 1 player was rumored to be dating the singer. And then they have some 15-20 chants (some of them unique to the team), there are some 7-8 players who have their own songs (If salah scores a goal... they sing his song) and then on top of everything on each game they have some diss-song to take the piss on opposition. Yelling about the opposition's coach to have a large belly, about the opposition's country to have a large nose, about John Terry to have sex to some of his colleague's wives, on Adam Johnson for his sexual scandal, etc. It's a pleasure to watch (even on telly).

Ultras are the super fans of the teams. They go with them wherever they are playing, they support them no matter what. Flares are usually not allowed in stadiums but the Ultras sneak them in. You have to realise that football isn't just a game to a lot of supporters - it's a way of life. Supporting your team has been passed down from generation to generation and it's it's tribal almost. There are rivalries going back over a hundred years which is why sometimes you'll hear the fans chanting that they will defend their city. I liked your reaction, nd you should check out more European/South American ultras but with English translations.

The reason for the switch between both football and basketball is that for some of the teams they both have successful teams in football and basketball, so many of the fans that attend football matches, also attend the basketball games for the team..
And they bring the same passion and chants from the football matches into the basketball games.. so it’s quite something to behold and when some of the European basketball players come to the NBA, they usually have played against very hostile crowds, so when they are booed heavily in NBA, they aren’t affected by it, because they have experienced another level of hostility..

    A few sidenotes/Background-Infos for you:
    - Ultras: Ultra-lifestyle is an own culture connected to mostly Football (european one), but (depending on country) also Basketball, Hockey, Handball, ... Ultras originated in Italy and the Balkans (those two are arguing about who started it really), and are own "supporters clubs" whose lifes completely spin around their club (and with that I mean everything. Real ultras choose their jobs (if they even have one), partners, living conditions by which gives them the best possibility to not miss out on anything club related). Most Ultras (or at least sub-groups) are at every single match of their club, be it in the next town or on the other side of Europe. They think about those amazing choreographies you see, the chants, etc. Now this is the positive side. The negative side: They are radicals in every sense of the word. Depending on country (some countries are known to be more extreme than others) If you go to a match in the colors of a rival team (lets say you go to a game of AEK Athens wearing the green of Panathinaikos) it's pretty much like walking through Lebanon waving an Israeli flag. They are willing to fight (and if necessary die) for their colors (which occasionally leads to war-like situations surrounding the matches). Also, they have strong opinions on what is best for the club and are also often willing to use force to get stuff done. It often happened that a manager or player was released because he couldn't get along with the fans. (Currently, nearly every German first league match has long interruptions because all Ultra groups are protesting against a shady decision by the league to sell out to investors; They throw tennis balls, use RC-cars, etc. etc). Some of them are also heavily political with extreme positions. E.g. The Lazio Ultras make Trump look like Marx, while Marx would be considered center right if you compare him to the Ultras of St. Pauli or Celtic Glasgow.
    - Flares: They are basically emergency flares like you have on ships (magnesium, copper, etc. depending on which color), and they are forbidden pretty much everywhere. But if you want to bring something like that into the Stadium, you'll find a way (and when it's in form of Choreos, the guys burning them usually know what they are doing)
    - The Ultras in the video: I personally think that at least 2 (BVB and Celtic) are waaaay overrated. Yes, situational they can be immensely loud, and especially Dortmund has its "yellow wall" (the Ultra stand, which is the biggest One-tier fanstand in Europe), but most of the time its just 2-3.000 that make the noise. I was there twice and was heavily disappointed both times. IMHO even in Germany, Clubs like Eintracht Frankfurt or Dynamo Dresden (they are playing 3rd tier at the moment!) have way better and louder Ultras

    • @nilswettlin2012

And several teams in each of them. 1st, 2nd, 3,rd depending on how big the club is.

The Ultras are the most Fanatical Supporters you can meet, as they will Support the Club's team not only in a Football game but in any Team Modality in which the Club participates!

Loving your last couple of videos, definitely think you will find an audience for your channel. Best of luck to you. Ohh btw, you need to choose a team to support! I’m from Newcastle upon Tyne. We are Newcastle United. The Toon army! We just changed owners after 15 years of hell. Got champions league last year (finishing top 4 in Prem). Haha everyone is very passionate about the game! Best of luck!
Ps. You could do a shorter video checking out football chants at the games. That might be popular and funny for your channel.

The Ultras have a specific stand just for them and if you're not an Ultra or go with one, you do not buy tickets to the Ultra's zone.
The other parts of the stadium are pretty much safe, and you can enjoy the game, without passing out from the smoke, get beer all over you or being elbowed during the chantings... unless one of those very lights gets thrown off.

Recipe for good European Football chant is to take any short well known song and change the lyrics to be about one of the other team's scandals, or anything controversial that is impactful for large enough crowd. Now to Americanize it... Take a well known folk song and change the lyrics to something that is PG on the surface no matter how dertey it is underneath the facade.

You really start getting stumped when they name the same place twice.... Zante is the same place as Zakynthos. Those crazy Greeks loves to mess with you! hehehe. However, I only had good times out in Greece - cant say that for Portugal, France, Italy, Spain - or UK.... football is NORMALLY fun, but over-excitement can easily get ugly. A good fan moves light, always has water and if you're preped, a small first aid kit - even just a few bandages and some glue. Yes, glue. You can patch someone up in the middle of a riot with a bit of cotton and some glue. "MEDIC!!!!!" hehehe....

so since u dont know : this is not "normal" on a football saturday, atleast in germany. mose choreographys are planned way ahead for special dates or matches and there are fines for all firework stuff. sometimes they try to ban the whole stadium for a match or they fine from 10k to 100k. me as a supporter of frankfurt it is always beautiful to be at the games when something like this happens, the atmosphere is amaizing and traveling with 30k ppl from frankfurt to barcelona for example is one of my live memories i will never forget. i recommend you some videos about the german scene, since they show up 2000km away with 10k+ fans away and buy tickets for up to 1000€+ on the blackmarket to support there team non stop for 90 mins.
