I bet you have more cuts in this video than cables in your studio.

You gotta understand that the more profesional you get the more it gets expensive and you get less. The Blackmagic studio camera 6k pro was designed for small broadcast vans or production and has to be used in chain with Blackmagic studio converter and Blackmagic ATEM Camera Control Panel. Its a budget solution compared to Grass Valley or Sony chain that can cost 20000+ USD. The lack of documentation and training is a bit of a problem, but most of the broadcast productions know what to expect from an equipment (Video out, return in pgm/teleprompter, intercom, audio in, tally, camera control). And i dont see a problem with recording. Either you use internal recording on SSD, "budget" hyperdecks (1 hyperdeck per camera) or use a video production server like industry standard LSM EVS that can cost around 100000 usd. Simply you were not their intended customer.
edit: These days not alot of video production companies do UHD due to lack of demand. I know that some UEFA matches and Olympics require UHD. But rest of the clients i work with are fine with FHD.

True, and we should say UHD, not 4k in the broadcast world

So to cut Your Message short: I should not buy it - because You do not know how to use it properly? 🤓

Never said you shouldn't buy it. Just be ready to spend a fortune if you want to upgrade your studio and have all your equipment cooperate in the same ecosystem. 😁

I’m not familiar with specs, it may be a good fit. But I would rather go with something that has SDI output

You can easily record externally to an SSD with the 4k

Cables! I recently switched from SDI to HDMI for my home studio because I was using the same gear at church which I had run SDI cable so I just needed to setup the cameras G85s mostly and the converters and off I went. Now the church is using NDI PTZ cameras and I was looking into Blackmagic Studio cameras when it became clear they wanted their own proprietary design. No NDI even though it would make sense for the consumer, just add $1K to the cost of each camera for a SDI based system. I have just switched from their excellent Decklink 8K Pro to the Quad HDMI recorder since I no longer need the long SDI cables or the converters. Now to get this to work I will be back to using SDI cables even though the strength of the system would have been just running everything off an ethernet cable. I would be ok with the studio converters if they at least had NDI.

Man, this video is all flash and no substance. The matter of fact is you bought a product and tried to use it an a way that didn’t really fit your work flow and budget. The camera worked fine it just didn’t fit your work flow. Which is fine it happens but to get on here with a video titled “don’t buy” is just click bait and a huge let down. Plus your editing reminds me of a Sham Wow commercial….
