I've been burning them up on the Biffle bug the last two trips to my local lake. There is nothing but silt bottom and WOOD. I really like the idea of being able to change the hook because sometimes I like to go with a larger hook, if the bait size will let me. That is a cure for short strikes. I'm using the Gene Larue heardhead in 11/16 oz. and it does a good job as long as I don't need a bigger hook.

Depends on what you want to do with it- if you're looking to deflect off stuff on bottom, like a crank- I would strat with 3/8th and adjust from there. If it's digging in and getting stuck too much lighten up- if it's wanting to rise too much when you reel- you keeping having to stop and let it fall back- you need a heavier head. But- if you're throwing a swimbait an want to keep it up in the column- you might need something as light as 3/16ths. From he bank , more often than not I end up at 3/8ths- that allows me to reel it pretty fast with a 7:1, deflect off the rocks- but not get bogged down in them. But I've had to lighten up to as little as 1/4 ounce to- just depends.

Yeah I agree with Stoney. 3/8’s is a great start hold the rod tip up just a little to keep it coming over the junk.
