  • Meeting new people was something I assumed would happen with the Iowa Gravel Series. Having people come back time and time again and getting to follow along with their journey was something I didn't think about too much, but it has been something I enjoy so much now. Jen Sheffield has been on the IGS podium a number of times. She's pushed through the challenges of getting started in the sport (being a self described "runner"), and then working through injury, and now she's working on balancing running and bike races and all the nutritional challenges that come with endurance sports.
    Since we've talked to Jen a bit in the past, we focused on her new experience working with a fitness coach and a dietician to help her achieve her goals. Lots of good stuff to learn here, but just remember everyone is different. Carbs, salts, protein, strength training, caffeine are all common tools, but it takes time to figure out the right combination.
