I'll pose one question: Who produced the original "Family Affair" track before it landed in Dre's lap by way of J.Redd at MCA/Geffen and he replayed it and took credit?? Cuz I was in the original session.
Dre came up with the beat and sent it to Mary over the phone. That’s what she told Carson Daly on TRL Live back in ‘01 when she was promoting No More Drama. They went back and forth with Mary’s brother Bruce and his homegirls getting some credits as writers. Kirk handled the business side of things cause Mary kept on getting dogged out by her record labels. I think Jeff Redd was A&R for MCA by that point cause he’s the one that discovered Mary after hearing her karaoke tape.
