If Tears In The Rains Was Officially Made By Toby Fox, Sans Would Be Weaker In The Fight.
I feel that this one needs to be a bit over powered because of his rage in this version because of the events prior to this encounter. In the others he wasn't going with rage but more of reason so he was careful with his attacks in both knowing what he has to do, but in this one he didn't think he would get this upset and confused so I think this one is only slightly over powered but it makes sense.
Exactly! It fits well within the universe itself, as in it doesn't undermine the genocidal version.

This version of sans isn't even angry... He is just tired, sad and confused...
To be honest he probably is mad, yes at the end he isn't but during the fight he was, that why his attacks were stronger, that's why he didn't plan to fight you then, that's why he threw a dinner table at you, and that's why his blasters were more powerful but broke once used.
Seems like in this fight he goes through the stages of grief starting at anger, since be probably went through denial before fighting us lol. You can see him bargaining by resolving to kill us followed by depression towards the end and finally acceptance when we hit him

I like how very different this fight is compared to the genocide run. There Sans’ attacks seem more calculated and precise in some points, while here it feels more like a blind rage and reckless mainly when he starts throwing objects.
It’s because the neutral route is kinda worse, because in genocide everyone is gone, nobody to worry or nobody to see that they don’t care about paps but in neutral. There’s plenty people and they just don’t care and his friends are worried about him, seeing that makes him enraged
I think that he isn’t as desperate to stop the human or i am dumb.
He’s angry you simply let everyone else live except pap, and the fact in genocide, he want to make sure you *die*

In the genocide run, he's lost everyone. He doesn't even have anyone to grieve with. It's theorized he even wauted until that point to use his KR abilities so it could dish out maximum pain. You get himmt by one clump of attacks, and your hp tanks. 1 damage doesn't matter there. You get the full surprise of how powerful Sans actually is.
In the neutral run, he hasn't lost everyone. Sometimes, he doesn't lose anyone at all. At least he has someone though. You're not as powerful, having slain less, so the KR won't work as well as it potentially could. Sans isn't on his last legs of sanity, having seen everyone die. You merely get a glimpse of what Sans can do, and it still doesn't do his capabilities justice.
To put it frankly, I can completely understand and agree with Toby keeping Sans out of combat until the end of the genocide route, but this is still an interesting take on what could have been.

Actually asgore is still alive when you fight sans in genocide so I guess he could grieve with asgore if he wanted to

Well yes but there are thousand of neutral routes possible and in this one he had hope that his brother would be spared because of frisk sparing everyone in snowdin,just to see his brother die,if I were him I would be more than mad
The person who made this is really good at knowing a character and that only a specific few natural runs would get sans mad, sans isn't one to let his emotions out but if you get on his bones in the right way you can get him to start to do things out of anger which would cause him to attack in a natural run, if you only killed his brother he would know too well you trying to get him mad so he won't fight you, but he can understand why you killed a few monsters in the ruins only papyrus in snowdin and a few in water fall. He would only know if he was the player and not in the position of only seeing his timeline and no other senses ones, remember a judge is mentally strong but not indestructible.

He also tells you to "Go to hell" on the neutral ending call if you kill Papyrus lol

What wouldve been cool, is when you eat an item sans would have a different dialouge, like the snowman piece, “you know, that snowman just wanted to see the world. See how non boring this world can be, but you had to eat him just for your health.

Holy shit i just realized why sans has 10atk. Thats his original stats, but because on the genocide run we are so strong, his attacks feels way weak, like it deals 1 damage.
though frisks def + current armor in this game.. the damage wouldnt really make sennse of why its that high. Frisks def at that level would be 13 excluding armor, and with cowboy hat giving 12.
the players def wouldve been 25.
This would make sans damage to 1-2 due to defense of the player compared to sans 10 atk, madjick has 29 atk, but does 7 dmg per hit to the player with 25 defense.

@@nullmiracles8538 Yeah, but remember. Defense reduces that damage up to a minimum of 1 damage per hit taken. With san's ATK being 10. compared to Frisk's defense being 25. That would mean sans would be doing a total of 1 dmg per hit.
No, that's not it: he trained this time to become stronger. The ATK and DEF values of your opponent have zero relativity to you.
@@bluphenyx They do. The ATK of your opponents refers to how much DAMAGE per HIT your opponent can do to you; the player. and the opponents DEF refers to how much DAMAGE can be REDUCED per hit taken. And the minimum damage allowed per hit is 1.
Even with sans 10 ATK, they will do a minimum of 1 damage per hit against someone with 25 DEF. However, sans DEF will mean they will take less damage. and thats a given if sans doesn't have 1 hp.
Stats in UT has meaning canonly. HP means how much health points you can lose before dying. ATK is how much power per hit you can do. and DEF is how much damage gets reduced. So they still have meaning regardless.
The only way sans to get 'stronger' is just to have more harder to dodge attacks, but thats more of strats and tactics than stats unless he gets more than 10 ATK, 10 defense and 1 hp.
The idea that sans is using everything at this room to attack frisk makes me imagine sans Catching ketchups from the shop while throw the tables and candles on frisk

@@haousupreme206 It's heavily implied that Sans has killed at least one of the other fallen children. Undyne has never fought a human before, not every human made it to Asgore and Sans outright says he would have killed you if Toriel hadn't made him promise not to.

@@haousupreme206 I don't know. He sounded pretty serious, especially considering he did that eyeless socket thing he only ever does when he expresses hatred. And it seems like a pretty elaborate story to tell just to scare a literal child.
Add to that the fact that the possessions of the children are scattered all over the Underground (with Sans being the only monster known to travel between them), Asgore not having killed all the children (otherwise their remains wouldn't be scattered everywhere) and Undyne not having fought a human before leaves us with few monsters who could be candidates for human extermination.

nope. and its not even cus of kr like everyone suggests, its his frame breaking ability that he loses thats detrimental. his damage per second easily exeeds 10 if he can break frames, at 30 damage per second because in undertale you run at 30 frames per second.

finally, not some "im level 100 and im overpowered as heck" battle and sans is actually tirek by using overpowered attacks that he cant attack anymore, original attacks and not just all overpowered version of sans's actual attacks, and not just bones

I do kind of wish the game had more neutral endings. I always thought it would be interesting if there were a way you could do a genocide run, but spare only Papyrus, and then he and Sans are both there at the end to stop you and seem a lot more confused and frustrated by the whole situation.

To be fair Toby wanted all the neutral routes to be able to be aborted at any times or be the same gameplay whise thats why Even if You kill undyne alphys helps You because she had no idea undyne died or else she wouldnt even want to get close to frisk or how papyrus remains happy and willing to help by giving phone calls Even if everyone died because sans lies to him telling him everyone is on vacations

The idea of Sans yeeting the restaurant tables as attacks is so rad. Gives into the idea of him loosing his temper.
The grammar and spelling in this aren't the greatest, but I really enjoy the graphics and the idea behind it, as well as many of the new attacks.

sans doesn't do anything except one thing in Undertale and that's try to be your friend. With some bad laughs and good food. sans and Pap will always be my favorite characters in Undertale. Skelebros for life

I like how this fight feels like a sans fight with it’s intensity and speed but it’s also on a lower scale then the genocide route which makes sense considering it’s a neutral run and plus the way sans keeps trying to understand why made it all come together

Sans' character is so much more evolved than most people can perceive, almost to the point of being... real. That's why sans himself is such a fan favorite, and why there are so many other AUs, is because he moves beyond the dialogue on the screen and the pixels he's made up of, this is all so amazing to see, that people can understand he's more than a sprite and textbox but an idea, that he hurts and feels too. This may seem extra and exaggerated but I just felt like pointing it out

That is the point of the deserved guilt trips the game puts you through, even if someone attacks first, it's your moral duty to not be like them, that's a, quote on quote, "good person's" duty to not attack back, and instead try reason and logic to change the other's mind, in the game's case, to show them what you want, to show them love, friendship or mercy, to get them to do what you don't want to, to act like you, to be better.
You are an immortal time traveller but a fly attacking you is sentence for death to them, makes sense.

Just joking, you did a really great job, pardner. I'm impressed, it is very well done. The sprites, the music, even the attacks are true to the original game. In Undertale, it seems that the attack goes on and on and out of nowhere the turn is cut, just like here.
The only thing that should be polished a little more is the speed of dialogue. For the rest, it is perfect
Also, being a neutral path concept, I'd like to see if Sans can be spared in the end.

Welp. I 100% can say, that in this game no mercy ending.
I have a critique for the developers of this fangame... (Cue the fandom shitting on me for saying what is essentially an AU is anything less than perfect.)
I would recommend finding an author or something to proofread and rewrite your game's script, I'm not saying it was horrible, (and I'm loathe to point this out anywhere on the internet) but there were a significant amount of grammatical and spelling errors and if you want to get a point clearly across, it's better to have a good understanding of the language you are writing in. Additionally, for, me personally, sans' reasoning for breaking the 'normal' neutral route by fighting Chara/Frisk kinda fell flat for me. However, I WILL complement the devs on their spritework and attack ideas, they were very smooth, and interesting to boot. Also, considering this fight's context,these attacks are possible and (from what we now about him and the Genocide route) likely, for sans to use.

However, what I specifically meant by "Sans' motivation for breaking the 'normal' neutral route kinda fell flat for me." Is Sans' motivation could've used a bit more fine tuning. 'I just got tired of seeing you do genocide runs' is all well and good, but I kinda feel like the player should have to do something extra to trigger this theoretical Neutral route Sans fight. (I.e. choose to be a jerk, and then only kill Papyrus in Snowdin.) Like, I feel like there's gotta be a 'straw that broke the camel's back' type of thing.
The Sprite work is too frickong beautiful
I like how his attacks are more unpredictable but coordinated. Good choice learning a few things from Papyrus. His fight is quite long and keeps surprising us. I really want to see Papyrus' full potential.

Uuurgh, the dialogs are so weak. It really shows how smart Sans was written in the original game, in there he is so blatant and... I'm sorry, but boring. The pacing of the text boxes being slow af doesn't help, I had to put the video at x2 during the intro sequence to stay awake.
It's a good idea but man do I miss Toby's writing.
It’s really sad how everyone seems to miss the point of his character. Him fighting you at all in a Neutral Route completely misses the point of his character

TLDR: This is a cool fight but it undermines sanses character of doing nothing because he knows theres no consequences
I really like this fight and the attacks it has are incredibly creative but I feel like it undermines the point of sans. Sans knows whats going on. He knows about your ability to reset and save and because of this hes fine doing nothing because it doesn't matter in the end anyways. All he has to do is judge you at the end of the game in order to feel like hes done enough. But in the genocide run he knows that the only thing he can do is kill you so many times you reset your game. The fact that in this fangame hes not trying as hard as he does in genocide just means that theres no real reason for this fight to exist because sans would never go out of his way to fight you if there were no real consequences to avoiding the fight all together.

Also considering this is a neutral run, i just assume they just attacked all the enemies that got in the way, no grinding.
Still self defense considering it wasn't done for the sake of murder, but to find their way out of a dangerous area, where your first experience was being betrayed by someone you thought you could trust.
Toriel, was introduced right after flowery, which already tried to betray you, which makes anyone untrustworthy now, it's justified that you fought back when they wouldn't let you leave.
Papyrus was dead set on kidnapping you, which is obviously self defense.
Undyne was clearly there to kill you. Do i need to elaborate?
I forgot the other characters, but if we talk about the regular enemies, they came out to fight you, not the other way around. Grinding is hunting, random encounters on the main path is self defense.

Opinion : There should be a neutral sans fight where the difficulty is based on how many monsters have you killed
I feel like it should be based off your LV, but yeah.
Honestly, the attacks get harder and do more damage until you get to LV 19, which is genocide. And I feel like the theme that plays should be based on who you kill. If you are under LV 10, then Song that Might Play When you Fight Sans should play. If Papyrus is killed or you are LV 11 or higher, Tears in the Rain should play.
And if you kill enough monsters, You get KR
im sorry but sans would never fight you for killing random monsters. he doesn't fight you for killing papyrus but if he did it wouldn't be very out of character. however fighting you for wiping out waterfall and killing undyne is. he sees it as self-defense and literally doesn't get mad at all.@@ahyesexistence1586
