So sweet how the boy named Albert was really upset about not being able to get the exact insect he wants and how patient the teacher was in dealing with his frustration. Teaching kids how to deal with the disappointment of not being successful is just as important as allowing them to be successful.
OMG! Yes! That really stood out for me. I was happy that he also used the opporunity to ask the female scientist and express his challenges getting what he wanted. So much to unpack here. I so respect all teachers and which those who are not as patient as the one here see the impact of their actions.
Dear Lord...it's Robin Williams.....I wasn't prepared for that....
Same!! :'-(
I did my student teaching at Clear View 20 years ago. They were always into technology and cooperative learning. Good to see it still happening. :)
He was such a great teacher.
This is amazing. I can't imagine that these are fifth grade pupils. Here in Uganda, the first time you interface with such technologies is when you are being prepared for final exams. I wish the governments in developing countries like Uganda could pick a leaf from this.
This is what we should introduce our children to. Project based is the way to go even in our Universities. We need to go more practical and industry-orinted. I am as surprised as you.
I think it all comes down to the teachers, if they could get out of their comfort zone and forget the syllabus or whatever its called and teach what matters, then trust me we wouldn't be far behind. take a case for gulu university, they have a lot of redundant desktops lying around and they call them useless. one person could just come up with a simple idea like lest build a super computer out of these junks. a cluster of those desktops could be a very power full server at that faculty. a team of good hardware, programmers and net workers could do that in a simple project. Denis I think your right. unless we all go full blown on project based learning, we will still be behind.
Surely, after all, I am considering a "Teaching" and not Lecturing role at
the University now. This the time we need to go practical and down to the
foundation of IT ---Programming!!!!. For those who are crazy enough to
change things will always do...We need to act faster!
I agree! Think of all the children and the ideas that are being "squelched" by not getting that technology into the hands of those children.
My high school does PBL - Project Base Learning, But i'm in Sydney, Australia
I wonder if Larry Page/Sergey Brin founders of Google heard 6:50 and thought 'hmmm, now there's an idea...'
I LOVE it! Also, did Robin Williams volunteer for this?
I mean, if ransoming his kidnapped pets from the people producing this show counts as "volunteering," then yes.
I LOVE it! Also, did Robin Williams volunteer for this?
Poor kid, if only the teacher would've known that a bee is a type of wasp.
Is that Robin Williams narrating? Cool!!
Yep, that's him. I have this on VHS video tape because I went to this school during this year. Robin introduces the video and makes a guest appearance. The entire project is sponsored by the George Lucas Foundation.
Respected teachers, I watched project based learning of your video. Really it touched my core of heart. It is needed for students to make them creative and dynamic. So we want to collaborate our school with your school. Please how is it possible?
Check out "21st century skills" type teaching. There is lots of info on it!
did this video take place in the 90s?
