I agree, this would have been real nice if it was a game pack. The Sims Medieval is amazing, but it's a quest-based game and it is very limited if you wanna do like a legacy gameplay, where you have generations of royal families, a crown prince/princess, an heir/heiress, and much more. So once you finished all the quests, there's really nothing else to do, and the build/buy is also fairly limited with the doll house view from the player, and the sims only has 3 lifestages: baby, child, adult. And your child doesn't even age, unless you die. Plus it's pretty odd to have your child seems to be the same age as the other living parent, and their other siblings could never age. But then I guess it would have been too ambitious for sims 4 to make a medieval looking world, with one existing main castle (and maybe other smaller castles for nobles) and a village. It could either be an old school kingdom from the 13th century, or a modern one like today's royals. There could even be a premade royal family who are famous and are constantly followed by paparazzi (if you have the get famous pack, of course).
“Where can you actually build a bloody castle in this entire game?” In silly places, obviously. Satch has inspired me to change Bob and Eliza Pancakes’ house into a fabulous fortress. They won the lottery in one of my saves, so it’s the only logical thing to do 😌
I think sometimes British people forget the US was once a European colony and we do have castles here that were built by Europeans. We also have Spanish, French and British forts. Southern states were once Spanish colonies and those forts are still there. French ones in some northern states. Castles aren’t just in Europe lol.
I remember a very intensive history lesson on medieval castle structures and we had to create our own little models. I enjoy Satch's videos, but the stereotype of Americans are dumb and don't understand traditional things has gotten old for me. Especially when he called his own field trips to castles boring. 😅
I would love this kit .. if there were a game pack to go with it. But look at what they've done to my thinking. Shut up and take my money please! I got church vibes from it too! But anyway, you did a great job making a quick little castle to show off the kit! 🤙
i hope we get more kits and maybe a pack related to this. Id especially love it if they gave us a rococo pack where our sim explores a new worl but it feels like another time.with rococo clothes powdered wigs and new jobs suchs as duke/dutchess lord/ lady, king/queen with a choice of living in your own chateau cottage or live with other richy rich people in the sims version of Versailles
A lot of castles we have here in Europe are now empty and their owners have to find ideas to give them a second life. Maybe a challenge with this kit could be to use a medieval ruin (use just the shell) and turn it into something like a museum, a contemporary house, a restaurant, a billionaire house or events place. We don’t have to literally play game of thrones just because it’s medieval
Im gonna use this with realm of Magic so its a fantasy castle world type of thing. Also we just got romantic garden for free that will pair nicely too. I’m having a lot of fun with it but im a big fantasy person so.
Exactly. I'm a bit of a completionist, which is frustrating because I don't want to buy all of the packs/kits when they're inevitably not as good as the price suggests, but this could have been amazing. The outsides will look brilliant, but you need multiple other packs to fill the entire interior with a castle vibe. It shouldn't be that most people need to buy other packs/kits to enjoy this one (or any other); they should be full and replayable on their own. This with even just a few furniture pieces for a lounge/dining room could have been enough to at least start someone off with just this and base game.
Guys I’m not being funny but even with all the elements this still looks WAY less realistic than the Sims Medieval which came out years ago?? Did they just sack every member of the development team who had visited Europe?
Ahh, that's so lucky your field trips were to castles! Here we didn't have any cool field trips really. The only one was in the 5th grade as a skiing trip. You could skii or snowboard and of course I chose to snowboard. 10 mins away next to SnowBasin which was used for the 2002 SLC winter Olympics (I live 20 mins away from that ski resort). It's amazing living in the Rockies but I'd still wanna see castles!
I think the best trip I ever went on was to Catalina Island off the coast of California. I hated zoo trips after that, like no. Even if not a castle, I think taking kids to see something DIFFERENT that feels otherworldly but still educational is the best experience to give them. I'm 26 now, but my first proper time in an ocean and snorkeling will forever be engrained in my mind.
Now I want a Frankenstein house patched together out of all the niche kits. It’s gonna be a medieval castle on the exterior, with a North African courtyard and a cozy book nook on the interior.
Back when thr vote was out someone argued we didnt need the future pack because we already had future stuff but i thought its better to have more from one theme than barely anything from another... i think this pack is only good if you use mods cc and have packs like vampires and get together and even then they arent the same style lol
I haven't read all the comments, sorry in advance. But I think it suits Henford very well. There are large lots without an actual driveway. And with this kit in combination with the ruins from Cottage Living you can build very nice public spaces. In general, I pretty like it! :) Thank you for your work Satch, you are awesome! :) Love from Czech republic (PS: Marlenka is our invention :D )
You know, Cult of the Lamb, an indie title maintained by a smaller team than EA, literally just had a huge FREE update adding so much gameplay and features. Meanwhile, EA is still charging us premium for bite-sized content packs that feel like they should be an SDX drop...
I mean it probably would've been just as underwhelming. At least we have some furniture that matches medieval stuff but futrue styled furniture very lacking
@@zoommiesbay yeah. I guess I don’t really care about the future style but I really like medieval. I’d be less disappointed because I would be less invested. That’s an entirely self centered reason, I know.
This does seem pretty barebones for the concept. What's there looks decent enough but you're right. The lack of interior + clothing means you can't really live out the fantasy. Not until they make a new DLC to charge more money to complete said concept... which will probably be buggy as hell somehow... I could maybe visualise a castle in the Cottage Living world, atop the hill where most inland castles would be for the high ground but I'm not sure there's a big enough lot up there and I'm too lazy to go and look. If there is, it would make some sense with the town down the hill and farmland around. But other than that, it's not really fitting in to most of the TS4 worlds...
how many extra sales they could do if they implemented spiral stairs to this kit because for modders it's a base for making other ones, of various styles and we have to buy this pack to use them anyway
i think the freezes are meant to resemble freezes in real life castles... i know that sounds dumb but hear me out.. okay so when attacking armies would battle, they would need to get past castle walls, usually by climbing them or breaking down the main gate. at the top of their ascent, they must "freeze" and work their way in a almost upside down manner to get over that portion of the wall, allowing the home army to kill them/fight them at the freeze, slowing the opposition. if irc i mean. so i hope that clears things up
tbh, combined with other packs I could really have a lot of fun with this kit, I love building in the sims 4 because it’s quite litteraly the only good thing that’s in this game
This kinda just makes me want a medical sims more and more XD but i do love this pack personally because i play my sims in medival times with all the supernatural packs DX but thats obviously just my play style
It fits beautifully in the Cottage Living world and it would make a great place for an old university. However I agree with you. There is some basegame stuff you can filter on (victorian for example I believe) but still... I rather have it fleshed out as well
4:35 their giving Notre Dame like you know that famous big flower stained glass at the entrance? I feel like thats what they were going for with the shape above the main part of the window but didn't do it justice. The narrow one is also giving Notre Dame but basic window no special stained glass (I don't mean to offend the french, I went to Notre Dame before the fire and it truly is a huge loss to european history and I honestly thought it was the most beautiful building I ever set into and I'm not very religous)
love your fort and castle wallways! upload to gallery! this kit was made for me, if i didn't know it was coming out... wouldn't have ever downloaded ts4 content.. from the free base game to th 54.99 for rent pack duh
This is why I thought the Sims community was stupid for voting on a Medieval Kit. Obviously it's not going to contain nearly enough items to build a castle or play out a medieval story. Them voting on that cemented us not getting a bigger pack with anything of value. The people who voted probably want at least a game pack's worth of items, world, cas, and themed gameplay. I don't know what people expected out of a kit
If there was a kit that could have been made into a stuff pack it was this one! Instead of butlers coming with Vintage Glamour, they could have come with this and we could have gotten Royal outfits (i cant believe we still don't have crowns in the sims 4 lol), furniture and more build assets (more columns, gargoyles, fancy rugs, curtains, chairs, tables, an older looking kitchen set, specifically appliances, a new "bush" fence, etc) . There was also so much potential for some regal looking landscaping and terrain paint. We could have even gotten a Royalty system (similar to the fame one), or a "Castle" lot type with some special traits, even if it was just boosts for skill gains for having a massive "house" (like an opposite system to tiny living) Id even be happy with a "Royal Guard" rabbit hole career, at this point... I'm actually so upset because this is a fraction of what this could have been. And i think its quite fitting for how the Sims 4 has been lately. So much wasted potential 😭
I would love a sims 4 world that’s medieval, where they lock the world so Nancy landgraab and other sims won’t just turn up. That would be cool. Maybe even like a Scottish/castle theme would be so cool.😊
Yeah, this would’ve been really nice as part of a royalty, game pack or expansion pack. They did the country kitchen followed shortly after with the cottage living EP. So maybe…
It's victorian medieval (France, watch bbc Merlin for an example or loire valley, chauteu) But it gives vibes of this is what should be an expansion pack. Journey to the past. (Romans would actually also be cool) Oh vampire church is being updated.
Im Sorry im french and this isnt victorian AT ALL Maybe gothic but victorian hell no And we dont see this style of castel in france with flat roof and all, maybe british but absolutly not french
Snatch, just to let u know, some of the base game furniture would be pretty good for a castle. A lot of the furniture in the goth house (in different swatches of course) can fit for a castle
I wish they would have sold this as another vacation world. And then maybe somehow, with the new 4 Rent capability, they could have gameplay where you can give tours of the castles.
Okay, this video convinced me to buy the pack, lol. I enjoy this channel, but I'm the opposite kind of player, who really likes the whole 'create your own adventure' or virtual dollhouse aspect of the Sims 4. To me, the windows read as less American and more as simplified heraldic stained glass. Going to start a save where I bulldoze the entire island in Windenburg and make a castle complex using all the lots. EA could throw us a few grand fireplaces and beds, though.

Your little cackle sends me every single time. Never change!
dear satchie, please never stop youtubing. thank you
I agree, this would have been real nice if it was a game pack.
“Where can you actually build a bloody castle in this entire game?”
In silly places, obviously. Satch has inspired me to change Bob and Eliza Pancakes’ house into a fabulous fortress. They won the lottery in one of my saves, so it’s the only logical thing to do 😌
Your Castle is cute. I wish I had to take 'boring' school trips to castles!
I wish they made a royal pack. Where the sims could be royalties and where we get spiral staircases.
Castle Living EP coming soon! 😍
I have to add as well, considering you're not a builder, Satch, this was a really nice build.
i hope we get more kits and maybe a pack related to this.
Finally I can make an accurate home for Mr Wemmick and the Aged Parent!
My entire PhD is in castles and I’m loving it- a lot of my PhD is also about assumptions so watching all these kit react videos is so much fun!
Im new in the channel, and i just wanted to say that i love those laughs 0:10 LMAO JKHNFDGKSAD the comedy timing is so good 💀
oof i love the battlements fence on the circular though ooof looks good
For me it's additive to things like... the Magic and Vampire packs. Allows me to make a more castle-vibey thing along with those sets, which is nice.
You did a great job building the non build, I like the stones with the grass sticking through as well.
Back when thr vote was out someone argued we didnt need the future pack because we already had future stuff but i thought its better to have more from one theme than barely anything from another... i think this pack is only good if you use mods cc and have packs like vampires and get together and even then they arent the same style lol
Castles suit henford on begley beautifully. I’ve just been pretending my sims restored old abandoned castles like on the restoration shows lol
This is why I voted for the future kit. Because I knew the castle would be underwhelming. Plus, I was hoping for a larger pack than just a kit.
Honestly this would really nice for a wedding venue.
Britchester is about to have a glow up🥳🤩.
how many extra sales they could do if they implemented spiral stairs to this kit
because for modders it's a base for making other ones, of various styles and we have to buy this pack to use them anyway
that would be so great if we could use that rounded towers for climbing up and down using spiral staircases
that would make sense of that towers
i think the freezes are meant to resemble freezes in real life castles... i know that sounds dumb but hear me out.. okay so when attacking armies would battle, they would need to get past castle walls, usually by climbing them or breaking down the main gate. at the top of their ascent, they must "freeze" and work their way in a almost upside down manner to get over that portion of the wall, allowing the home army to kill them/fight them at the freeze, slowing the opposition. if irc i mean. so i hope that clears things up
tbh, combined with other packs I could really have a lot of fun with this kit, I love building in the sims 4 because it’s quite litteraly the only good thing that’s in this game
Omg I apsoutley adore you. So real and hilarious. Best personality. Keep posting!! 😂❤🤗
Vampires and Get Together both seem to be required to complete the aesthetics of both of these kits, huh?
This kinda just makes me want a medical sims more and more XD but i do love this pack personally because i play my sims in medival times with all the supernatural packs DX but thats obviously just my play style
It fits beautifully in the Cottage Living world and it would make a great place for an old university. However I agree with you. There is some basegame stuff you can filter on (victorian for example I believe) but still... I rather have it fleshed out as well
9:40 But only the old timey church shell because there's no buy items. The closest thing to a pue is the outdoor stone bench.
You’re one of the few honest simmer these days, everyone is on EA’s payroll 😪
Hit the nail on the head with the entirety of the sims 4 to be honest, ‘I don’t want to pretend, I want to play’
Can’t wait for my first Royalty pack to go with this 😬, yes it was definitely hard to furnish with just base game.
the stone staircase can be stretched to be huge and very grand! ❤
If anything you’ve convinced me to buy it for the grassy swatches off stuff 😂❤
4:35 their giving Notre Dame like you know that famous big flower stained glass at the entrance? I feel like thats what they were going for with the shape above the main part of the window but didn't do it justice. The narrow one is also giving Notre Dame but basic window no special stained glass
(I don't mean to offend the french, I went to Notre Dame before the fire and it truly is a huge loss to european history and I honestly thought it was the most beautiful building I ever set into and I'm not very religous)
love your fort and castle wallways! upload to gallery! this kit was made for me, if i didn't know it was coming out... wouldn't have ever downloaded ts4 content.. from the free base game to th 54.99 for rent pack duh
We do have a cool Knight costume that could be fun with this though. I might finally use that costume now with this. Lol.
So maybe…
It's victorian medieval (France, watch bbc Merlin for an example or loire valley, chauteu)
But it gives vibes of this is what should be an expansion pack. Journey to the past. (Romans would actually also be cool)
Oh vampire church is being updated.
Im Sorry im french and this isnt victorian AT ALL
Maybe gothic but victorian hell no
And we dont see this style of castel in france with flat roof and all, maybe british but absolutly not french
Victorian? 🤨
Snatch, just to let u know, some of the base game furniture would be pretty good for a castle. A lot of the furniture in the goth house (in different swatches
of course) can fit for a castle
Omg I want a Vladdy Daddy castle makeover in Forgotten Hollow 😂 I definitely look forward to this than the goth kit 😂
My first get growing medieval castle oasis glamour expansion pack - coming soon guys 😍🤪
