Two years later got slammed in the same side playing rugby and couldn't run anymore. Really debilitating.
The way I heard it, in the case which was adjourned to next month, they didn't have full and complete medical records for one of the injured guards. To be honest, that's not an entirely unreasonable request for an attorney to make, even if the defendant is a complete knucklehead.

Whenever you hear a defense attorney start by saying, "My client wants me to [verb] ...", you know it's going to be good. That is defense attorney speak for, "This is stupid as hell and almost certainly the wrong thing to do/say/request, but I wasn't able to talk my idiot client out of it, so here you go."
This is the thing that annoys me, the defendant will delay and delay for one reason or another disrupting the lives of the officers and any witnesses and then in the plaintiff or witness misses on time they want the case thrown out.
I'm surprised the state didn't make that argument against a continuance. Often the state will push back against delays out of courtesy to the witnesses, as it is super inconvenient for them. At least these officers get paid (probably overtime) for being in court, but still a hassle.
Why is this POS be allowed to control the court? He needs to be left in his cell, muted, and allowed to watch only. He also should lose any computer privileges since he stole the tablet and assaulted the officer. Crippled in a wheelchair but pins a huge guard. He should have been tazed. He has to represent him. He is not required to follow his clients request, but as long as he can ethically do so, he likely will. He wants to move the case along, and ultimately if his client is going to do time, then it is as it is. However, he has to make some type of argument.
