Boo!!! The G9ii has gone back to Panasonic today 😢 What do you think of it's results? Please note some of the video clips shown were shot on the original G9 :)
I bought the G9ii after having Canon for 15 years, so a complete swap of system. I looked at the OM-1ii but the fact that some features are blocked unless you have native, pro lenses really put me off. I have not had a single regret moving over to Lumix. I bought the Leica 100-400ii to replace my Sigma 150-600 and the combination is really powerful and so incredibly light in comparison. Yes the battery life isn't brilliant (my 90D gave over 1100 shots in a single charge with CAF in use!), but, like you said, a battery block makes a difference, also I did invest in an extra battery and a couple of Neewer batteries as well. Loving the photos you got. Also nice to see another Norfolk photographer!
@jimwalker760 Yes it's quite annoying that OM do that! On the flip side I think they have a better collection of pro lenses at the telephoto end so it's finding what works best for you day to day :) It's weird because I managed to get through a whole day of shooting in Texas on less than 2 full batteries but one just seems to die almost instantly! I think maybe at times I'm a bit heavy on the 60fps and 20fps modes and I think I got better at nit shooting at such high burst speeds all the time in Texas! Next video will show K&F's batteries and charger and with the discount code works out at £33 which is mental value! Always good to hear if another local Lumix shooter! Although I doubt I'll be out much this Autumn as have way to many things on the go it seems!
@joesjourney9986 Oh yes it's one of my favourites! I have another much older video on the channel showing the location a bit better if that would interest you ? :)
That was gorgeous. I love the Real World. Thank you for sharing and congratulations - you're a winner! (PS: i'm not one of the ppl who don't think about Lumix 'as much as they should'. I'm one of those who never think about Lumix. Is that wrong?😂)
@@JoeMaranophotography Ah yes that can be a nightmare journey especially in the school holidays. We had a wedding to attend in Cornwall but we were pushed for time so we flew which was easier I think.
@SkylarkFields a few of the clips were with the original G9 but yeah I had an absolute blast with the G9ii and when it was in my hands I felt like any shot was possible. I'm back to the original now so I'm going to have to work even harder like I used to have to lol
@Ryanswildlifephotography As always the wildlife is the star of the show and without them we can't do what we do. I've had plenty of downs this year but brute perseverance and stubbornness has gotten me some results I'm very happy with haha :)
@@carlpalmer6095 Thank you very much! That's really appreciated! I took so many that it was hard to start seeing what was good and what was less good! Hopefully I picked the best haha
Well done Joe, really shows what the G9M2 can do in the right hands, I even got sweaty palms when you were close to the edge! Shame it had to go back eh?
@andyr9734 I have to admit I had to really check the ledge out from the other side to check if it actually had rock underneath supporting it. That said I was very conscious that even one trip or slip could result in a nice long drop to my death so I think I was a bit overly cautious compared to what I might have been a few years ago 😅 These hands will now have the original G9 in them for a bit longer. It is what it is haha some people can't even afford a camera so maybe I should just check my privilege lol
Great vlog Joe, when i saw the intro to the vlog I instantly recognised the spot where the puffins were as Id been to bempton just at the end of June. Then got to the section wjere tou said "im risking life a bit" it took me right back. Ive never been to Skomer but for me Bempton has something special about it
@@KurtBevan haha yeah that's quite a scary drop down there isn't it 😅 I've not actually managed to get to Skomer yet - ferry was fully booked for when I had time off! One day!
@JoeMaranophotography really, 422 10bit or prores?. I've had no issues with it so far. Like literally none. Tried black magic raw the other day, and I won't be doing that again in a hurry. Beautiful footage, but insanely large files
Nice pictures and video! I haven't seen puffins in such detail before! Did you upscale or use Topaz on the images or are these straight out of the camera?
You certainly have mastered the G9ii and it shows with your shots / videos. Bempton is a great place to visit and you have done it justice here. Shame that you had to give it back, but I'm sure Lumix will watch this vlog and let you have one on loan to produce more vlogs like this.
@@cynical1952 That's very nice to say! :) I feel like I didn't focus on video enough but I also think that everyone already knows how great Lumix is for video and I wanted to prove that's its equally as capable for photography as well! One thing that slowed me down is I didn't customise the camera for my liking because I felt it would then feel like "my camera" which would then suck when I had to give it back 😆 You never know, I might have tried to get in touch with another brand (or 2) to see what results I can get ;)
@@JoeMaranophotography I can definitely recommend the Nikon Z8. The AF system is superb, with many options, including bird eye recognition. You would love it 🙂
@cynical1952 Well that might or might not be one of the 2 lol I'm not sure I would get along with full frame as much as I do with M43 but for sure there's going to be many situations where it would be a bit better as well. One issue is the cost - I'm never going to afford F4 or F2.8 lenses which means I'm basically back at M43 quality anyway!
@robinhill9439 I can't really say for sure because I was hybrid shooting a mixture of 5.8k open gate video as well as C4k and using high speed burst modes. For non wildlife shooting I dare say it would last a lot longer! I personally would recommend 3 batteries at least for a day out which is what I would also recommend for the original G9 - this just has even more processing requirements (autofocus, fast bursts and so on)

Shepherding sheep in Somerset as well as gardening still. We've got some good bird sightings here too but not puffins!
