It worked without any problem, because it's a processor of the same generation, otherwise you have to update the bios to a version that supports it. Maybe it's obvious what I'am going to say, but the cpu must be compatible with the chipset of your motherboard you can't install any cpu and for laptops i can't reccomend installing a processor with a higher tdp of the preinstalled one

Nice. Glad to see others doing this. I did this a couple years or so ago as well; i3-2310m to i7-2820qm and a new mobo with the 630m. Massive difference. Hell, I was going to buy a T440p and upgrade that, but honestly other than the screen, there won't be much improvement.
@@juppe201 I used this unlocked BIOS successfully on 3 Acer Aspire 5750 laptops which I upgraded. It installed without any problems by running the Insyde exe. This BIOS was essential to access and activate UEFI control, which allowed me to install Windows 10 and a bypassed version of Windows 11. Only issue I found was that the laptop did not like being left with the f12 option (change boot device) left on in BIOS. That resulted in boot problems until switched off again.
No ma devi prestare attenzione a diversi parametri.

@@juppe201 Good question. I suspect you would be fine converting BIOS to UEFI without having to do anything to W10. The worst that should happen is that it won't boot into Windows, in which case you just go back in and turn it off again. There are two places where you turn on UEFI, once to enable it and once to boot from it. I think you have to have your disc formatted in GPT, not MBR, in order to run UEFI anyhow. I am using W11 on a GPT SSD. Works absolutely beautifully. I used a USB with one of the "Bypass" versions of W11 23H2 (probably made it with Rufus, can't remember now). Latest version of W11 is 24H2. When you changed your cpu, did you need to change anything into the bios or something else into your OS ? Or did it work directly ?

The Intel Core i7 Mobile i7-2820QM 2.3-3.4GHz 8MB L3 5GT/s Quad Core (8 threads) 45W CPU is also an excellent choice being almost as fast as the 2860QM and usually cheaper. There are slightly faster Socket G2 (rPGA988B) i7s in the series but very hot at 55W and were very expensive, so never bothered trying any.
Other improved wifi cards also work and improve over the original, such as the Atheros AR5B22 AR9462 Dual Band BT 4.0 Wireless WiFi & Bluetooth MINI PCI-E Card.

Is it possible to change this 1.21 bios to legacy mode instead UEFI?

It seems Acer links are broken and they will not fix them.
Trying to salvage this 5750ZG from ewaste bin.
i upgraded mem from 8gb -> 16gb and cpu B940 to 2820QM.
Yes. And I seem to remember that it gives legacy mode as standard and that you have to select UEFI. But why would you want to? Have you tried searching for the official 1.19 or 1.21 BIOS?
@@robincowley1497
Thanks for fast reply.
I currently have win10 installed.
Which indicate that i am on legacy bios mode.
If i update current bios to 1.21 UEFI one i was wondering do i need to do conversion of existing w10 installation to UEFI.
For that reason i was wondering can i keep BIOS on legacy mode and do conversion bit later.
Well worth trying; only potential downside is you have to do a clean boot and reinstall all your programs and data.
@@robincowley1497 Finally did this. Updated BIOS and it works without converting.
Thanks for support 👍
@@juppe201 It’s better to disable turbo boost on the processor and work at the base frequency of 2.3 GHz, because in 6-12 months the motherboard’s power lines may burn out and then the laptop will definitely go to the landfill. In my laptop, the i7-2760qm processor has been working well for 4 years at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, the current consumption in the load is 28-31W TDP instead of 40-45 watts with turbo boost. To make the laptop work quickly without turbo boost, install a SSD 480gb-1TB sata-3 2.5", divide the disk into two sections: drive C (150GB/Windows, programs, browser) and drive D (350-800GB/files storage, video, films). I use a HDD 500GB (disk E) only for storing photos and important information for work (projects).

Slavik Fedotov You seem to know this stuff pretty well, so... Mine is a 5750-6438, and I was thinking of trying upgrade it work as a Gaming machine (Be able to run Apex Legends, for example).
It came with the i5-2410M (I think that is a 2nd Gen processor) 4GB DDR3 RAM... And I think it's biggest problem is that it uses the Intel HD Graphics 3000 for its graphics/video instead of an Nvidia or AMD graphics processor. Is it worth my time and money to upgrade the RAM, Graphics card, and maybe even the CPU to attempt this..? And Is it even Possible? Or should I just buy an inexpensive Gaming rig somewhere?
@@RagnarOdinson You can add another 4gb of RAM, SSD and i7 processor to this laptop. But it will be a good laptop for the Internet, films.
For games you need a processor + discrete graphics card.
You need to buy a gaming laptop for games (i5 + GF gtx1650 / 1050ti (4gb) - 800-900 US dollars or buy a computer on the secondary market with Intel processors 4 generations (socket H2 / LGA 1150): i5-4570 / i5-4670 ( K) / i5-4690 / i7-4770 (K) + GeForce GTX 1060 (3gb) / GF GTX 780ti (3gb) / GF gtx 770 (2gb) + 8-12gb RAM (4 + 4/8 + 2/8 + 4) - it will cost somewhere $ 400. Instead of a monitor, you can use a TV (via an HDMI cable)
Slavik Fedotov Thank you very much for the response and the specific info!
And yeah, as I did some more research I started to figure out that this laptop would best serve me as a general use PC/laptop, and with just a couple relatively cheap upgrades it should be a pretty ok basic Laptop. And then with a bit more research and shopping around I might just be able to build "Minimum Spec Requirement" PC, but using parts and a build design that could be incrementally Upgraded relatively easy later on.
Thanks again, have a good one!!

if you want to keep this laptop for yourself, then you can put another memory bar on 2gb or 4gb so that you have dual-channel mode (+20% speed). Put the SSD 2.5" 3D*TLC 240-512gb under Windows 7/10 x64. You can put i7-2670qm /i7-2760qm/, but turn off the turbo boost in it so that the motherboard is not damaged.
