I use this all the time. This is my go to half guard passing strategy! Man… no one ever taught me how to do this, I just sort of figured it out on my own over the years through trial and error- and it worked really well. So now I feel extra super validated knowing that Chewy uses it too. 40 is a great age, because you can kick the butts of dudes half your age and they think you’re ancient when they find out how old you are. Soon, you become the stuff of legends about the ancient magical martial artist.
"Adam" lol. I love his look when you put the pressure on. Had the pleasure of training at your gym about a year and and can't wait to come again. Keep up the good work Chewy, and "Adam".
I call this the "look away from halfies" pass when teaching it to lower belts. The silly name I use in class just makes students laugh yet they remember it easier when I yell it at them lol. 🤪Love this move and the details you went over Chewy.
26 and these movements are my favorite. Especially in my division with all us younger smaller quick dudes it’s a pain in the ass to get us to stop on scramble. These pins are top tier
The only thing that would've made this video even better is if Adam would've done the jazz hands 👐 along with that facial expression every time chewy switched his hips into the pressure position lol
Yes. But everybody's journey is different. I trained 4 days a week and got mine in about a year, starting at 36. I've been training for 3.5 years now and just got my purple belt. My wife took 2 years. If you still have your white belt after 4 years, I would talk to your instructors and ask them what they expect from a blue belt, and what you need to work on. It IS true that it's not about the belt, but the lack of recognition for the amount of work you've put into this hurts.
@@DuckRiverHomestead to be fair I missed a handful of belt tests and had and injury - a nasty stinger. So I probably would have had mine in about 2.5 to 3 years.
@@GreatWhiteStoke Exactly. It's different for everyone. During injuries I'd still go to class, and either just watch or change my drills/warmups. Either way, talk with your coach and figure out what next steps are.
Adam's face while you explain everything in the beginning is priceless. :) Laughed so hard, it made my day.
"Don't look directly into the camera".. I need them to know I know 😂
So true
epic staredown

I've used this position for years, but I learned some new details in this video. Thanks!
Same same. For me it was the leg curl detail, to prevent them planting. Good stuff
Adam

How do you beat the knee shield when trying to scoop? Does this also work for z guard?
Noice
Would you consider 4 years to get a blue belt in your mid 30s a long time?
