Great build!! To answer your question above about whether Marine Artillery used M198's in the Middle East. Yes, we did. I served in 11th Marines from 1987 to 2010 and served in Desert Storm and OIF. I have this same model and haven't started it yet. One thing I have never understood about this (and the other version Trumpeter came out with) is why they included the caster wheels on the trails. Never in my 23 years did I ever see an M198 with those caster wheels. Pulled guns out of depot storage, off of MPS ships and after depot level refits and NONE of them had these caster wheels. The technical manuals don't even show them. I have no idea where Trumpeter got the idea that this gun had them. However, you did a great job with this diorama. Thanks for sharing your work.
Thanks. I'm about to build a diorama around this model for a niece who is a battery commander in the army so wanted to make her something in this vein. This sparks a bunch of ideas and hopefully avoid a few problems.
I’ve just purchased this kit and am very excited for it’s arrival!👍🏽 Along with a whole variety kits. Most of the kits I recently bought are Military themed, awesome with outstanding details. A first step for myself to be diving into much more complexed kit bashing. Think I’m gonna need all the luck I can get, nahhh just kidding, just Patience, and a whole bunch of it 🙄💪💪👍🇺🇸✨
Good luck on your models! patience is really the key for great models, in my opinion, when rushing some steps during model making, it doesnt get as good as when you take your time most of the time.
A nice change from ships and a job well done on the howitzer and the diorama. You've given me some great ideas on a desert dio I'm planning for my Fiat M14 so thanks for that. Look forward to see what you are working on next.
Thanks very much! I really like desert dioramas the best! Sadly, the diorama builds arent as popular as the ships, probably because everyone and their dog is making tanks, but it is still a nice change in pace between ships which need much more concentration
Superb work on the Arty position diorama. Love the dynamic poses of the figures. Howitzer, crew, and base work are top notch creations. Keep up the great work. Bill
Happy birthday my friend. Peter awesome build again. The weathering and chipping effects were spot on. I really like how you do the dioramas, very realistic. And aslo the figures turned out great. Awesome work. Have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy my friend. 👍👍🇦🇹🤝🇺🇸
Hi Chris! Thanks, i am glad you like the diorama, i think it turned out really well! the figures look dynamic and engaging and make it more interesting to look at. Thanks again, and stay safe as well!
Fantastic! The attention to detail is just great, the diorama is like a snapshot with your eye drawn to each minute detail, then another and another..., very well done, thank your girl friend for picking this up for your birthday. And of course a belated Happy Birthday.
great like always!!!!😎...remember me when i done a diorama with 88 german cannon and german troppers!!!!!...tamiya maibe...but Peter is betters!!!!...peter one of the great of modellers!!!!congratulation, ciao Roberto
Hi Roberto! Thanks, but i am sure yours is at least as beautiful as this one, if not better! Have you read the recent post i made, about where you can send photos of your models per email and i make a video with all the photos i got sent? Maybe you could show us your diorama there!
@@funinscale2892hallo Peter, I have read your recent post about sharing some models with the community. Now i haven't got the german 88 diorama because a lot of years ago i have given it to my best friend as a present!!!🤗🤗... when i will make something interesting i will send you same photos!!!!...your project is very nice!!!!!😎👍👍👍👍
I am still trying to buy one that is not 300€; i have put it on reminder at my favourite hobby store which would sell it for around 250€, and if they get it in stock again, ill get it from there. Or amazon has another sale of it a little cheaper. I'm on it
Hi! I think from the camouflage of the uniforms it fits the the 2003 invasion of iraq of the us marines, but im not sure, actually... i didnt have any deeper reference in mind :)
True - the mortar team is somewhat fitting, i think, but a dedicated set for artillery would be really cool. I think a vietnam crew is existing from Italeri included in a howitzer kit itself, but ive never seen them separately

Semper Fi bro, what unit were you with? I was in Fox 2/11 88-92
1st battalion 11th marines here. I never saw those caster wheels one time.

Just started a build of the m198, and I got some great ideas from this awesome build. Used this beast in fallugah back in 2006.

This is an awesome replica! I was assigned to a M198 howitzer back in 88 and all of your diorama details are are spot on! Nice work.
Kinda surprised a kit as detailed didn’t have any powder or powder canisters. Great job on the build though.

Hallo Modelcomrade. Very nice work. Afghanistan campain?? Or Irak? I wish you a nice weekend. Greets from Christian

I really wish someone would come out with modern and Vietnam artillery crewmen, for both the towed and self propelled guns
