If you haven't you should check out Yungblud's song California off his first album because I think the chorus is referencing it. California was a song about not feeling he had a place and struggling very badly with his mental health and identity and just wanting to escape. Mars is about a fan who kind of felt the same way because her parents couldn't accept her gender but the song goes from being about her to calling out to everyone. It's about feeling like an alien and asking if there is anyone else living on Mars too (i.e. feeling like that) or are you the only one- and the message is put into a song designed to be sung by hundreds of people at shows proving noone shouting the lyrics is alone they are standing next to people who feel exactly the same way.
As a transgender man, I couldn't help but absolutely cry listening to this song. It's beautifully written and the lyrics hit home so hard. And the fact that he's such an underrated artist (compared to others, in my opinion) makes it all the more sad. So many people need this song and I feel he's doing such a good thing spreading so much awareness. You too, I'm so glad that you adore him too. Dom is such a talented guy and you bringing him justice has made me extremely happy, even if I'm pretty late to this video and the song. Congrats, you've just gained another subscriber. :)
i feel like the line "do you feel like you`re irrelevant, do you feel like you`re just scared as fuck" can be reletable for not just people who feel like they dont fit in, or they dont feel like they can be themselvs. i think it can feel reletable to teens today or just anybody with depression. i`ve been deppressed for 4 or 5 years, and i feel like this hits very hard. sometimes you just feel like you`r totally irrelevant to those around you and just in this big world. and how you`re just so scared of how what the future will bring. so i felt alot less alone when i heard this line. thank you.
