Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

I watch Ben @ The Hollar Homestead on (YT). He has a system that he created to put the compost inside the chicken area .they scratch through woodchips, green material, etc and break down the compost. Might help you keep them busy with something to do. Do you ever brush out the goats?
they would love rummaging through our compost pile at the other property, so we'll definitely be incorporating some sort of chicken compost action here as well! We have tried to brush the goats but they weren't too impressed 😂
I’ve seen videos of chickens enjoying swings- a possibility?
I do this system,it’s brilliant and we call it chicken gold!!
They get finally crushed shells back in feed…more shells for gardens…
And they make compost…win win

For my taste Sweet Pea is the perfect name for this clever little creature! Amazing how she chose her real family! Really nice of you to spend money on her, so her ex owner is happy too. - All the best for Bee‘s knee! I had the cruciate ligament of my left knee torn 30 years ago, it was fine for the 25 years after the recovery, but in the meantime it’s a bit unstable and at times painful.
I'm so happy the goat is yours now, and I adore her name 'Sweet Pea' and think no need to change it. The workshop looks great, I would however want a peg board of sorts for the smaller tools such as hammers and screw drivers etc, that way it's always within reach and so easy to hang back up again and out of the way.
Hello Bee and Theo, I've seen you Bee clambering around like a mountain goat, did you forget you're a mere human and damage your knee? I think Sweet Pea is a perfect name for the new kid on the block it matches her nature. Good to see you out playing with your toys Theo, I was thinking while I watched about how many hours those toys save you, job done and no aches and pains from onerous manual labour. FYI CULVERT CLEANING: If you need to clear inside a bit of culvert, you can do that with a tyre on a chain. Pull it through on a winch, with the bucket or via a hitch. If you have a gap and can run a rope through with pole or an RC car of somekind, then you can pull the chain through. Kind of like fishing wires through conduit.

Great video. Sorry to hear that Bea’s knee is messed up but what a place to recover. The day to day things to do on the farm seem to be keeping you busy. You’ve got a great chicken coup and run but have you thought about a chicken tractor that you could move around their field so they could enjoy the lush grass. And your chickens look huge… omelets for breakfast. I’d love to see the leaf blower make a pass around the pond. It’s also getting close to time to build Bea a raised bed garden close to the house. If you keep stuff off the floor it will be easier to clean and if you drop anything you will find it. Also mice etc can't hide behind it.

Theo,,,,,,,have you guys thought about getting an automatic door opener on your chicken coop? Our daughter has one and it is programmed to open and close at a certain time in the morning and evening. Makes life a little easier. BTW, the shaved head is nice. 😊

Bless Bee, she is such a hero. I hope she can protect the strain on the knee joint and cartilage that, in turn protects the joint. The force on the knees when one walks is 3-4 times greater than body weight. This force will increase when engaging in certain activities, such as ascending and descending steps or bending over to pick up an object, as I can attest. I walk around my 53 acre property as often as possible to maintain the balance and even 'do the hill' for the goats that I haven't yet got, and I have less inflammation too. Be well, great content. Looking forward to the spring veggie planting.

Theo you should screw in some hangers on the horizontal 2x4s around the workbench on the two wall sides and hang many of your tools, get them off the floor - and you could add a horizontal 2x4 on the short side and have a place to organize your screws nails bits&bobs

The return of money when you bought the goat used to called "luck money" in rural Yorkshire and I think in parts of Ireland . It was given back by the vendor as a gesture to (hopefully) ensure good luck with the item that they sold. It seems they have the same idea in Portugal as well.

Your workbench Looks Great! You might want to build a 2 wheel cart with a rack that a tank of gas can sit on, your strimmer, your saw, axe, a shovel can all be fitted on then you can just tip up the 2 wheel cart, onto your ATV and go
