Reference understanding for Cas and all the others who do not understand that reference:
That reference was to the Back To The Future Trilogy, more specifically the first one.
The DeLorean is the time machine they used to travel, and it required Plutonium to give the 1.21 gigawatts of power to be able to achive this.
So without plutonium the DeLorean is pretty much useless in the first movie.
Until later where Doc goes to the future and is able to find another way to get the DeLorean to travel without using a radioactive element. 😅
