I’m tempted to tell my principal that my male classmates exposed shoulders are distracting me and just see what they do.
do it!
Plz do and tell us the response
PiggyTube go for it
Please do😂
Do itttt!
Guys have legit taken their shirt off at my school. Like how is that not distracting?
Vanessa E D.a
Vanessa E some guy at my school went the whole day in just underwear and didn’t get in trouble
Once a boy rolled up his shirt to look like a crop top and did not get in trouble, but a girl had on a spaghetti strapped shirt that her hair almost fully covered and she got into trouble.
Our guys basketball team practices shirtless and the girls are allowed to practice in Sports bras and really short shorts for fairness
At my school every time the girls get dress coded the guys roll up their shirts. They never get in trouble.
I remember one day I went to school feeling really sick with cramps, so I went wearing pajama pants. They were baggy, full-length, navy with some sort of white pattern (maybe snowflakes), and most likely paired with a hoodie and a frown. I was sent to the office and told that they were inappropriate because they "made the boys think of bedtime".
Back in 2003, I didn't have the terminology yet to express why this made me so angry and upset. There wasn't a conversation yet about how it shouldn't be a girl's responsibility to hide any slight curve of her body, to hide as much skin as possible even on sweltering days, just so that boys aren't "distracted". This reinforces the idea that nudity and the female body are synonymous with sex, which is a huge problem in America, and why things like BREAST FEEDING are seen as "obscene" when it's literally the most natural thing in the world.
The reason why you got in trouble is the stupidest thing I've ever heard 🙄 bro any excuse they got they will throw at you
OMG I thought pyjama pants would violate "dressing appropriatly for daytime", but not that they're distracting to boys, WTF.
Think of bedtime? What? And how do they know what boys think? And we are always told to focus on what we are wearing to "not distract boys".But they never tell boys to control themselves. And some boys are uncomfortable woth those rules because they make boys look like animals who can't control them...
“MADE THE BOYS THINK OF BEDTIME” ARE YOU FR?!?! 😹😹😹😹
daisyvision YO THE BOYS ARE READY FOR BEDTIME I CANT 💀💀
The fingertip rule is not fair because everyone’s arms have different proportions to their legs😒
Am I the only one with this problem???
Yea so thsi is wierd ( sorry for my terrible spelling English wasn't my first language) one of my arms is longer than the other and I'm not sure if I would get dress codes for it when one of my hands is the right length but the other not
My arms are really short so I can wear mini skirts
@@helmi-marie isn't that for everybody? but yeah like what is that
Hey it's Hailey no
Yeah sierras arms are like perfect length for her shorts and my arms are too long so I don’t think shorts would look good at fingertip length for me
Her: “I followed my dress code for a week”
Me: “i wore the same thing for eight years”
Mia Espinoza high school is only 4 years middle school is 3 years for high school so .....
VLOGS WITH ME it’s called, “elementary school”
Gurl
Mia Espinoza same
I’m going into 9th grade and I’ve been wearing the same uniform (obviously different sizes) for 11 years 😑
My dress code didn’t allow ripped jeans. And once one of my friends fell on her way to school and ripped her jeans. So when she got there (she lives an hour away) they told her she had to go home change and come back ....
her mom lost her shit and went ham on the school
Léna JD lol those must be some cheap jeans. Its pretty hard to rip jeans.
And i dont it was a big rip so its stupid to have to go all the way back home :/
Grumpy Nayeon not that hard to rip jeans if you fall hard enough. I fell my last year of high school straight onto my knees. The knees ripped and my knees were bleeding so much. But my school didn’t care about rips
Léna JD poor girl how the jeans rip tho. Why the freek can you not wear ripped jeans
id do the same if i were her mom :)
Uh wait.. no sweatpants or leggings? Girl, I would’ve been sent to the principals office everyday
UmItzMaddy same, I wore leggings and sweatpants majority of the time
My school don't accept sweatpants and leggings as well lol
We had to pay 4 dollars every day we wore sweats
My school doesn’t allow leggings..but no one cares about sweats
UmItzMaddy same
When I was a junior in HS we had a foreign exchange student who was a girl who wore nothing but short skirts and high heels every day. She didn't speak very good English (Because she was from Cozumel) But I walked past my guidance counselors office one day and I had overheard my principal tell the exchange student that She was not allowed to wear those outfits anymore because IF SHE GOT SEXUALLY ASSAULTED IT WOULD NOT BE THE BOYS FAULT.
She took it to the school board, we never had another foreign exchange student and he was fired the the year I graduated. He was a piece of actual garbage. He moved him and his wife to another state.
Good riddance. Shudder.
Oh my goodness

That’s amazing😂
Nayyy clay this is AMAZING 😂😂

Schools be like "skirts must cover knees" "no showing cleavage, shoulders or tights" but come to school in Victorian inspired outfit that goes along all rules and they still have a problem with it smh
Pumpkin I bet you looked amazing 🤩 we stan fashionable queens
ikr smh
Wait that sounds so cool, now I need to see that outfit.
No "costumes," right? Like, because if you dress in clothing from a different period then modern it m u s t be a costume, right? *Eye roll*
Girl you just do you!!
I'm so happy we didn't have a dresscode in high school in Germany. As a Teenager you want to Experiment and try things out and not being punished for having a body.
Im moving to Germany
Lance R. Same
Totally agree! I‘m from your neighbor county Austria and I’m so glad we don’t have such dresscodes in most schools here too 😁
girls aren’t even allowed to wear shorts at my school... and we live in florida
also guys can wear shorts as short as they want 🤦🏼♀️🙅🏼♀️
emma luchsinger I had a gay friend in high school who wore booty shorts to class and my teacher looked at him, looked at me, and dress coded ME. I was so pissed off because he was wearing legit booty shorts and my shorts were exactly finger tip length. Best part tho was when they called my mom and passed me the phone to tell her I said “well they dress coded me even though I’m not out of dress code but not this boy who was wearing shorts up to his butt” and when I passed the phone back my mom cursed them out and I got to go back to class :)
How do you deal with that?
Thats bull
emma luchsinger SAMEEE
Same I live and Texas and they had the audacity to say over the intercom “even though it’s getting hotter, our pants should not be turning into shorts!”. But then a couple of guys literally wore boxers to school one day and got away with it 🤦♀️
Dress code in the Netherlands:
Make sure you wear something doesn't matter what!👍🏼
True story😂
Really? Not in belgium ..
In some schools are there rules about clothing like about croptops or shorts. in my time at school i didnt know anything about any clothing so they probably were not existent
this is random but when I was 6 i thought the netherlands didn't exist lmao
Yaëlle just don’t show up naked, but if you are wearing only a bracelet that’s fine, jk i don’t even live in the Netherlands 😂
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait WAIT no leggings? Wow. I would NEVER be able to go to your high school :/
You could probably wear leggings with a dress.
i wear leggings everyday
Same
My school district we couldn’t wear leggings either 😭😭
Issy Bee I got in school suspension for leggings and a long shirt that covered my butt.
*Dress Code*
Girls: No shorts, No cleavage, No showing shoulders, No Jean's with holes in it, No V-necks, No open shoe wear, So basically just wear a blanket covering everything.
Boys: Wear anything you want, come in with your underwear for all I care.
Schools: *Yeah, that's very fair.*
Bro you don't even know
Boys: Can't wear t- shirts with slogans or inappropriate picture
Cant obviously sag
Can't wear a durag (black people)
TR ROSE I know
@@MeWe-fh1lu Im 3 months late to this comment but my school isn't like that guys can just wear what they want
@TR ROSE I can't imagine how this would feel. The only good thing about the uniforms we have in my high school is that Girls and Boys are even
Blankets are forbidden at my school
In my country all the students have to wear uniform (public and private schools) and I actually got used to that and preferred it that way. The uniforms are not cute but you didn't have to worry about what you were going to wear each day lol perfect for someone lazy and unstylish like me
I agree, I use to wear a uniform in school and it was really comfortable. I didn't have to think about what to wear and we always found a way to style it. It was also cheaper, I didn't need to invest in many clothes.
My school uniform costed like £300 so it’s wasn’t very cheap but it’s fine. My skirt is way too long tho so I roll it up hehe haven’t been told off once. I just say I’ve got long legs 😂
@@lexieyarr9034 LOL! I used to do the same with my skirt! I also have long legs and the skirt reached below my knees and I was too lazy to fix it in any other way. My uniform was cheaper than buying regular clothes.
We had uniforms and girls got dress coded all the time for skirt length. We had to get our skirts from the school’s uniform manufacture and they cut the senior skirts too short in the back. Like it got to the point that it was pissing off the boys that we were getting dress coded daily. Some of them ran an experiment where they wore shorts that were too short and not a single guy got dress coded for it. They eventually backed off when the parents got involved, but it was a wild few months at first. Absolutely unnecessary. I haven’t been in high school for awhile, but I’m still pissed.
@@beautifulcolors7123 that would have pissed me too!
and i 100% agree curvy girls get even harder with dress codes than non-curvy girls
Ikr I was thinking that
Gracie R it’s true, I’m not even really curvy but I’m not skinny and I can get away with way less than a lot of the really skinny girls at my school
Gracie R yep especially for cleavage for me
Honestly it always made me so angry because I had a bigger chest than majority of the girls in my school and I was constantly dress coded just for "showing off" my chest. Even in a Tshirt because it was fitted. But yea I almost never wore dresses because I've even been dress coded in my chorus dress because of my cleavage. I WAS ON MY WAY TO CHANGE ANYWAYS!!!
Girls -
*walks into classroom wearing shorts that ALMOST meet their fingertips but not quite. They are also wearing a oversized hoodie over the shorts.*
Teacher- “OH MY GOD, CLARA! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?! CLARA! GO TO THE PRINCIPLES OFFICE. OH MY GOD. YOU ARE TOO DISTRACTING!”
Boys -
*boys walks into classroom with big tank top with armholes that go down past their ribs*
Teacher- “oh I like your outfit today!”
Phuong Le TRUEEE
I got sent to in school suspension for wearing Bermuda shorts. They literally touch your knees! Luckily that teacher didn’t even accompany me so I just pretended I went then snuck back to my drama class 😂
Kat Wilson omg I’m so surprised!! Like wtf !!!!! I can’t believe that happened to u !!
Megan Fothergill the dress codes in the video “ that her school had “ is RIDICULOUS I can’t believe they actually make students follow this !!
Phuong Le omg literally we couldn’t even wear shorts that go to our finger tips and they have to be like three inches above the knees. And the fingertip length isn’t even fair cuz some people have monkey arms and some don’t
Coming from Scotland, I always envied people who didn’t have to wear school uniform but this sounds even more stressful than trying to find clothes that followed our uniform rules. I would have ended up crying every morning before school rather than just once a year on school uniform shopping day 😂 xx
Yeah I’m from Australia and feel similarly, although whoever chose the female uniform chose it for very non-curvy girls, like the slightest amount of curve mean to avoid buttons and things popping your top had to be a tent, and you ended up with itchy red marks where your pants cut into your waist. On top of that, the uniform made me look bigger than I really was
Was about to say - yes I know a lot of these rules seem unfair, unrealistic or just confusing, but at the end of the day "boohoo! You get to choose your own clothes to go to school?!" I felt lucky to go to a high school that didn't have a tie or blazer and you could choose between a skirt or trousers
I agree
My mum want to the one public school in Edinburgh that doesn’t have a uniform (James galespies) and they had a dress code but it wasn’t anywhere near as strict as the American ones seem
Story time!! One of my friends wore an athletic tank and shorts to school and got SENT HOME for the whole day as punishment. Her big brother was upset that she got dress coded so the next day he wore the EXACT SAME outfit she got sent home in. All the teachers just told him he “looked cute” and chuckled as he walked by.....
Getting sent home is a punishment?! 😂
That sucks man. So unfair
how long were the shorts? were they longer than the knee and they still sent her home?
@@cschweitzy being denied education is a punishment dude
Court Schweitzy yes because then we are deprived of our education.
Literally there was this guy in my class with a semi-see through shirt and it didnt have sleeves and he didn't get dressed coded. But let me tell you that there was this girl that ALMOST GOT SUSPENDED because she had rips on her jeans and the rips were only on the knees like wtf 🙄
Gacha Cake some girl at my school got suspended for for a rip above the knee that was the size of a penny! A P E N N Y!!
I know!! Dress codes mostly angle towards girls whitch is unfair and also it can make girls insecure about there body type
We also have a rule that doesn't allow ripped jeans. Spring/summer at school is the worst cause skirts also need to be on the longer side, no shorts
There are a bunch of boys who have thier underwear hanging out but my bra straps is a sin
@@MaddieMP3 if above knee shorts were allowed. And it happened to me i low key would have just asked the scissors in the principles office and cut em completely.
Altho i never had a dresscode. And also didn't really like ripped jeans (still don't) i had to bike to school every day. Has 3 pairs in rotation all throughout the year and like cold knees and hating to shave my legs.
Same with midrif easily. Yeah it will sometimes pull up. But i got hair and scars on my stumach, my biggest area. It isn't flattering on me. Getting shirts that aren't cropped tops is actually quite difficult since i have long hips and a long torso but short legs.
I actually even have some shorts yhat would pass your dresscodes. Short ones would ride up and look like underwear which isn't a look even when you don't have dresscodes. And skirts. Well not a skirt person. Plus way too freaking clumsy for shorter skirts without shorts under em.
*Me, someone who developed a habit of mostly hiding her body:* Ha, I could pass this so easily.
*Rule 1:* No rips or tears.
*Me, an owner of 10 pairs of ripped jeans and 1 regular pair:*
andidisappeared and no leggings or sweatpants teachers and students: why do your jeans stink, when was the last time you washed them you: I washed them last week, teachers and students : wear other jeans and wash those. You: I’ll wash them but I won’t be wearing any pants that day
andidisappeared same;) but I have a uniform but sometimes when we have a free dress day people wear like really short shorts and crop tops
Tops I would be fine i only wear T-shirt’s and hoodies
Now the bottoms
Let’s see
I’d be wearing the same 3 pairs of jeans over and over and over
andidisappeared I could never go to her school I only own ripped jeans short shorts and crop tops lnao
Same. I love in Jean's and tshirts but all my jeans are ripped. I can wear ripped jeans to work so why couldn't I wear them in high school.
am i the only one who gets distracted by people’s eyes, like if they are a pretty color i stare into them for like 2 minutes
Vicky Medina oh my gosh yessss!!!!!
Vicky Medina YOU MUST WEAR CONTACTS TO HIDE YOUR DISTRACTING EYES. I could see that happening
YES. REMOVE THE EYES
everyone must wear sunglasses so that no one is distracted
Yall white people are weird
My school had a assembly since girls where dressing "inappropriately" so all the guys wore crop tops and got lunch detetion
That's awesome! Or maybe it's horrible, idk
Aww thats really nice of the guys!
😂😂😂😂😂
All of them are made of boyfriend material.
@@zombi3v ~ That was cute 👍😁.
When you showed your shoulder.... I almost had to click off
JK love you sooooooo much Sierra!!!!! 😂❤️❤️❤️😂❤️❤️
Yes it was kinda much for me, too
I literally got dress coded because I was wearing a tube top with a cardigan and the sleeve fell and that exact moment the principal called me over
FUCKING SAME
Tania Ramirez nose i was wearing a top with sleeves but it was cropped. the line of my pants matched the top so NO stomach was showing. i also had a sweater on. so my friends and i were in a hallway and i lifted up my arm to point at a poster and got in trouble. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE HALLWAY!!!
i...
I was dress coded constantly. I’m 5’9 so everything looks “shorter” on me. But I would be dress coded for “low cut shirts” when I’ve never had boobs... so that was ridiculous!
ugh yeah being tall makes everything so much shorter
As a tall girl, my skirts would be finger tip length but i would get coded because it was still showig "too much leg"..
Mikaela Oliver wow that’s really dumb. what did they make you do, change?
carys ohaim nope!😂 I would be like “its fingertip, that’s the dresscode, byeee
Omg I'm a tall girls too and that suckssss
Same, it is also impossible to find long shorts as well!!
carys ohaim if they made me do that I would not have a change of clothes lol😂
I was dress coded all the time at my high school...and I remember it was always on the days I felt really pretty and it would just ruin the whole day for me
Because I am also curvy, I would want to wear things that made me more comfortable with my body (because being curvy wasn't cool in highschool) but the loose clothing or pretty things that I felt I looked attractive in wouldn't pass the dress code... so I just developed a lovely hate for my body and clothing.
Amanda Germann that’s exactly what happened to me
in sierra's voice...
SpAgHeTtI sTrApS!
I'm so glad I live in a sane country where there are no dress codes.
@@thedemongod27 I live in Czech Republic and we DONT have dress codes, bud I mean... everyone just dresses normally and in my opinion dress codes are kinda like "Girls be ashamed of your body and hide it" so I am against dress codes like wtf its not the girls fault that the boy "Cant handle it" like thats his problem.
@@herman3376 lucky in Mississippi the dress codes are super strict
Hi Winter I live in the Bible Belt and my private school’s dress code is super strict
we don't have them neither
I'm from German. In my school there are no dress codes and I'm fine with 😅
When I was in high school, I got dress coded for wearing shorts. While a skinny blonde girl wearing shorter shorts walked in the same office right next to me and was just cool to walk out.
Your point about curvy girls getting dress coded more is 100% right. I have a bigger butt and thicker thighs than she did but my shorts were longer...anddd they were passed fingertips so they technically abided by dress code
Ilektra C just because she was blonde and skinnier doesnt mean she wouldnt get dress coded. This channel preachs body positivity. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS SKINNY DOESNT MEAN SHE DOESNT STRUGGLE WITH BODY ISSUES. you did not have to point out that she was skinny and you especially did not have to point out she was blonde. Disgusting
@@courtney4124 true shit man. Im a rather petite girl ( 4'11) and I get hollared at even just walking to Wal-Mart in sweatpants and a hoodie my dude
Dont matter what body ya got someones gonna say sumthin -_- which is dumb
@@courtney4124 It did mean that. Aforementioned skinny blonde girl did not get dress coded according to OP's story. It's not about whether skinny girls have personal body issues (most women do bc of how we're socialized). It's about the degree to which the bodies of young girls are systematically sexualized and policed. Most women that I know would be able to relate stories where girls with less obvious curves were allowed more freedom in how they dressed (and in many ways allowed to be children for just a bit longer).
Kiyo you are right, I only pointed out that she was skinny to prove that the reason I got dress coded was due to my curves. Women that are skinnier, with less curves usually do not get sexualized as quickly, they have more freedom in what they wear, especially in high schools. Just as you said, allowed to be children for longer. I was always sporty and worked out so my thighs and butt are bigger than most girls I went to high school with. If I were skinny myself, I would not have been dress coded.
Courtney honey please stop jumping to conclusions and feel free to read and interpret my comment above. I never said that she did not struggle with body issues, she might and she might not. I pointed out that she was skinny as that was the reason she did not get dress coded. I did have to point out that she is skinny and blonde, because in the Florida school systems that matters. They are in a way more free to wear what they would like, even if it is against dress code. However, curvier girls will get dress coded as their thighs are more noticeable. As far as her being blonde (a white girl), people are still racist, my old school included. The world is unfair, it’s as simple as that.
I live in Florida:
1. No flip-flops
2. Nothing open-toed'
3. No mid-driff
4. NO RIPS. ANYWHERE.
5. No leggings
6. Everything finger-tip length
7. Nothing too tight
8. Nothing "Provocative"
9. No curse words or gang stuff
10. Nothing sheer
11. No bandannas
12. Everything worn "properly"
13. No off the shoulder
14. No spaghetti straps
15. No halter tops
16. Straps 5 inches wide ( LIKE TF)
17. Nothing backless
18. No piercings unless one on each ear
19. No tattoos that are visible
20. No hats
18. No cleavage (NOT IN THE DRESS CODE BUT MY FRIENDS HAVE GOTTEN IN TROUBLE FOR THAT)
Again. I live in Florida.
I'm so sorry. How freaking miserable.
Just about the same dress code at my school! It freaking sucks.
Omg that‘s hard. In Germany we don‘t have a dress code (luckily)
That’s so sad.
So basically overheat and die or don’t get an education... that sucks! I’m so sorry for you! I bet the boys could show up half-naked and not get dress coded though 😂
If they had a no-leggings rule at my school, 95% of girls would be dresscoded😂
i'd be dress coded literally everyday bc leggings r pretty much all i wear 😂
Emily sameeee
All I wear is leggings
So relatable 😂
My mom is a teacher. She’d be coded.
The “no shoulder” was heavily applied at my school. That’s why during language school, aka Saturday school, I wear things that reveal my shoulder. My friends who are dudes just keep making jokes that “yikes it distracts us”.
at my school girls can't wear tank tops but boys can 🙄
Sarah K it's bc girls shoulders are distracting to boys😂😂
gotta cover those ~scandalous shoulders~
Sarah K so silly
that’s against the law, they can’t make certain rules for some people but not for others
that's some dumb shit right there
I don’t like the finger tip thing because I have really long arms 😂 we have to do 3 inches above the knee like what no one wears shorts that long
I do n_n
I do. Mind you, I'm 51. Actually, I should say "I would", because my legs are so long that bermudas look like normal shorts.
i do though... but im not stylish

Omg the British segment about the dress code almost made me spit my coffee out
Too funny😂😂😂
"and no off the shoulder TOPS!"*throws jacket off shoulders*
I guess I’m pretty lucky with my dress code?
Actually, we don’t even have one..
The only thing we aren’t allowed to wear are booty shorts.
Other than that, you can wear jeans as distressed as you want, crop tops, off-the-shoulder, etc.
Toxic Truth That’s actually reasonable. Your dress code is basically “don’t wear anything that can be classified as a swimsuit.”
Same!
My school was a strict dress code, yet if you were the principal’s kid, or one of her friends, you were fine
Broadway Lover That must suck!
Same! Thankfully, my dress code is just to dress respectfully.

we CANNOT show our shoulders, thighs, stomachs, whilst boys are like "hEy gUyS saasdsasdss MY SIDE IS RIGHT HERE"""""
??!?!?!
In high school all I wore was jeans and sweatshirts because I couldn't wear anything else. I think it really held me back from exploring my style. I really wish these dress codes would stop be so gender discriminating. It makes girls feel like something is wrong with them and holds them back.
Anyways love you and love this video ❤ Also love what you are doing with women empowerment
We have NO dresscode at ALL!! I'm SO happy for that! Btw I live in Sweden so thats maybe why I don't have dresscode!
Well thank the Swedish guys for that!!
We didn't have a dress code either, but then again, I've yet to hear of a Finnish school that did. Also, wearing shorts tended not to be appropriate (for weather reasons) until maybe a week before school ended, anyway :D
I feel like the only places in the world with dress codes at school are America and England maybe
I was always cold when I was in high school, so if it was me in your high school in Sweden, I guess I would go cover from head to foot anyway, LOL!
same here, in germany
And I'll say it until I'm blue in the face...THIS IS WHY I LIKED HAVING A SCHOOL UNIFORM. No messing, no worrying about impressing fellow students with my clothes, no stress about not being able to afford expensive designer brands. I know a lot of people hate informs but honestly it was so much easier!
Caroline Helson Aww i wish we had uniforms girls at our school judge everyone for what they wear
@@cloroxbleach4862 it definitely made my life so much easier! Sorry the girls at your school are so unpleasant
My school has a uniform too. I love it because there is actually options like skirt shorts pants and a couple different colors for shirts and bottoms. I completely agree with you.
Exactly!! Uniforms take less time in the morning and people only get dress coded if they aren't wearing it so it's wayy simpler
I have uniform #privatbritSchool
Germany be like:
Off shoulder crop top and booty shorts? Go for it
•limelight • I am moving to Germany now
Literally, as long as you wear any clothes at all you‘re fine. I could have honestly shown up in a bikini and no one would have said anything
If you would just wear a bikini top you would be ask to put something over it though. But in general you’re right haha
Same with Sweden ^_^
@@nannibunni Because a bikini top isn't like a shirt. It's just a bra with some print on it.
Am from the netherlands. Also no dresscode.
But if you were to show up in a sports bra and booty shorts, you would get judged. A few 11 year olds did that when i was like 17 18. We definetly judged em.
I remember guys would walk around with their boxers showing constantly & never got in trouble but I wore a tank top one day & literally the second I walked into class, before I even sat down my teacher grabbed me & sent me to the office. I had to wear a baggy Tshirt from the nurses office all day.
Dress codes 100% target girls & perpetrate the idea that boys can’t be held responsible for their own thoughts & behavior. & they say it’s because they’re teenagers with raging hormones who can’t control themselves & need adults to create undistracted environments for them, but then they graduate & get thrust into college where there are no dress codes or hand holding, & we expect them not to go nuts in this new environment where they feel like it’s suddenly a free for all.
My new school’s dress code:
“Student dress needs to be safe, weather appropriate, in keeping with community standards, and NOT serve as a disruption to the educational environment”
I can finally show my shoulders?!!!!!!
I'm so glad we don't have dresscode here in Germany 🤯
Johanna Wre Same xD
Not norway either, i think.....
Ugh lucky... I have to wear shorts below the knee.. like what?! Who where’s shorts below the knee?! You might as well wear capris
We do
My cousins live in Germany. How were they sad to go back after coming to the US?
You what is so unfair is that we’re told to cover up everything in our bodies, but no one ever talks about how boys should just have some self control and not let things like a shoulder or a thigh distract them, and boys can wear tank tops and basketball shorts and it’s socially acceptable.
and its really not like most guys would actually be bothered at all. It's just such a toxic notion that men cannot control themselves enough not to jack off in class over seeing a bra strap
Ilka .Waffy right. At my school we started a petition and most boys agreed with us and laughed at the fact that we couldn’t show our ‘scary’ shoulders
Natalie Moriah What on earth are you suggesting? That boys bear some responsibility for their behavior? That they demonstrate some maturity? That's just crazy talk! (j/ k!) 🤣🤣🤣
@@janetyamashige9573 haha true! And most boys would think it's stupid that they can't handle seeing a bra strap.
I had a teacher my senior year that dress coded me every single day even when I was wearing the same jeans as my friend. No rips nothing she just said the back was too distracting. It got so bad my mom (who never gets involved) almost came down to the school after talking to the principal.
I was the laziest student. I wore jeans and t-shirts, and sometimes sweatshirts all through junior high and high school.
Stevie Sanko same in 5th grade I think I wore the about 3 different outfits except on award day/picture day
School dress code is the worst lol
Ur first lol
wigconic yup
Your high school's dress code is so extra mine was never that bad and rarely enforced I guess we got kind of lucky
It’s still crazy to me that American high schools don’t have uniform... I live in Australia and literally all the schools here have uniform!
Also from Australia;
There was a Uniform in my Primary school but we didn't have to wear unless it was a sports day; and in College our Year 11-12 Campus had no Uniform.
Probably because we're in the country and not the city; And the Dress code for the 11-12 was almost nonresistant as long as your breast were not falling from your shirt, and your butt wasn't hanging out the bottom of your shorts.
we have uniforms in public schools. they’re very prevalent in majority blacks cities/areas
A lot of American schools do have uniforms! I definitely did, and sometimes I got dress coded while WEARING THE UNIFORM 🤦♀️
Head cinema
@@CiarlaArt wow! Are you from Tasmania? Ive heard a lot of schools there have no uniform... I’m from Victoria and I haven’t heard of any schools without uniform, but you’re right, it might just be in the city... :)
In high school I was in a club that I had to "dress nicely" for once a month. One day when I had to dress up for this club I wore a skirt because my high school was always very humid so I would've been sweating in anything else. Those of you who have a bigger booty can agree that you can't comfortably wear a skirt and a backpack at the same time without it riding up. So this day I was walking to class (with my backpack on, of course) and a teacher stopped me & said "EXCUSE ME YOUR ENTIRE BUTT IS HANGING OUT!" I was wearing shorts underneath my skirt & what she was referring to was my thigh. I was a bigger girl (size 16) and I guess my thigh was as big as my butt?? Most embarrassing moment of my life... went in the bathroom and cried afterwards.
i think we can all agree that teachers need to be more sensible. i mean it maybe wouldve been okay to take u aside and say "hey, your skirt is riding up, maybe you want to keep an eye on that" or something like that idk. it really gets to me when i read stuff like this, even though that this happened a while ago but i feel with you. gotta hate those teachers
wtf she nailed the Minerva Mcgonagall voice
No 😂
Danny Acosta she did and she didn’t at the same time lol
The dress code at my school was "if a student is distracted than they will tell the person." But that never happen 😂
1st: shorts too short
2nd: flowy pants might be considered pajama pants
3rd: cleavage
4th: bit of cleavage plus short shorts
5th: cleavage
Honestly these were pretty good and you could’ve easily hidden everything and most of my teachers wouldn’t have said anything
Also, at my school, the pretty/preppy girls never got tagged with violations, but other girls did.
Allie Dee I know I got coded for wearing the same tank top (3finger rule) one of the popular girls were wearing and I got in trouble because I had bigger boobs than her.
Joanna Torreyson that’s so stupid
I mostly got violations for having inappropriate content on my shirts (I was kinda punky, so like, dumpsters full of corpses and stuff like that) so all I ever had to do was turn my shirts inside out. I definitely saw what other gals went through though.
Same 🙄
Well, in Germany there isn‘t such a Thing as „dress code“. But some Girls dress like there were going to Party 🤷🏻♀️
Oh I'm from Germany too and my school also didn't have a dress code. But some of my friends who went to other schools had dress codes (especially catholic schools). :*
True.
Even if there is a dresscode, no one cares. 😂😂😂
I'm from Germany too :D I am so incredibly glad no one in my school cared about what I would wear back in the day. I experimented with clothes quite a lot and I know I could have never worn a lot of my clothes if I had gone to an American school
let people wear whatever they want without comments! no one is better bc of going to school with jeans or shiny skirts🤗🙏🏻
lou 4you it’s all about living our own lives. this is not a competition between us, girls. thank u for taking my comment into consideration 🤗
once this guy wore a button up shirt (unbuttoned) and he didnt get dress coded until last period while my friend ( a girl ) wore a kinda off the shoulder T shirt . SHE GOT DRESS CODED AT THE FIRST PERIOD
Wow, I used to show the outlines or the straps of my lacey bras, always wearing spaghetti tops and v-neck shirts here in germany. We didn't have a real dresscode, it's more like we made that up as the student body, like one time a girl showed up with shorts that showed her buttcheeks and of course she was the talk of the week, but she didn't get resscoded, but almost everyone agreed that this was taking it too far. So sometimes girls would do some risky outfits, but it was mostly just girls wearing whatever they wanted, sometimes to impress the boys but mostly just because we could. I'm feeling so sorry for all the girls getting dresscoded for things that are just normal clothes. I hope this will change for you someday soon and you can wear the cutest outfits you can imagine!
*insert sarcasm*
Boys: Yo, look at her shoulder. Those are some nice shoulders.
Me: 😑
Right?! The struggle is real.
....I never would have made it without sweatpants in high school.
Angie Carr we weren’t allowed to have any sort of loose pants, it was awful. Jeans or khakis only.
Where did you get those flowy pants from day 2??? They're so cute!!!!
in this video --> ruclips.net/video/DZaTXw9C-s0/видео.html she states therefrom American eagle, but they're also pretty old so might not be in stock anymore. I would recommend also checking Ardene or forever 21! Hopefully, that was helpful :)
We have literally no dress code here where I live so I could go to school in my pajama and that couldn't have say anything about it xD
i actually saw a dude get dress coded for his tank top... glad to say my school is better than most :)
had a uniform at my highschool.
anyone relate???
Stephanie k-12 🤦🏼♀️ good ol catholic school
Stephanie yep
Everyone watching from England can
Stephanie - they attempted that at our school but hallelujah it did not pass. I feel bad for you though. High school is when you are trying to find your identity and fashion is a big part of that for girls. So sorry.
Stephanie no
My high school has no dress code or uniform so I cant relate
But no leggins that is just harsh I only where leggings
I have never really gotton dress coded in high school dress code
At schools in Australia we had a compulsory school uniform. Soooo much easier!
sineadey Burns same in Ireland
Yeah same
0:40 'I'm sorry, is my shoulder distracting you?'
16-year-old me: *tries not to stare*
OKAY BUT WHEN YOU WERE LISTING THE RULES YOU SOUNDED LIKE MRS. DARVIS FROM HSM (probably not how to spell it but you get it)
Allie Lindon-Lake I knew it sounded familiar lmao
Allie Lindon-Lake that is literally what I was I was thinking
Omg yessss 😂
*Disney geek here* That teal top and brown short combo with your hair pulled back is giving me Cinderella rags disney bound vibes!!
Guy: *wears muscle tee*
Principal: “Put on a jacket”
Girl: *wears tang top*
Principle: “we are calling your parents, you have a violation for disobeying the school dress code”
When I wear a uniform and don't have to worry about dress codes
Samee
That’s the plus side of going to school in the uk
When I was in Catholic school, the dress code referred to only wearing the specified uniform keeping shorts, jumpers, skirts, and skorts no more than 2in above the knee, having no rips or strings hanging off the clothes, wearing solid black, solid brown, or solid white closed toe shoes that were school appropriate. And for dress down days we could only wear jeans and T-shirt’s if we gave a dollar for donations to places like St. Vincent de Paul. For dress up days, if we wore a dress with thick straps or no straps, we had to have a cover up or shawl for the arms and shoulders with no cleavage showing. And skirts followed the uniform guidelines with heels following the standard 2in maximum, but we could wear dress sandals even though it was open toe. There’s more to it but that was the main part of my schools’ dress codes.
We have over 20 rules and there is 2 rules for guys
I had a uniform 😂 I live in Australia so we all wore uniforms
Shelley Ellsworth wearing my uniform rn from Scotland
Shelley Ellsworth omg that was the easiest haha once we had a day where you could wear whatever you want and they were like no spaghetti straps and there were people who just wore it and no one said a single thing. Haha. Love Aussie schools
I remember all of those rules plus some when i went to school. We weren't allowed to wear flip flops (and i grew up on the florida coast). I also remember seeing guys walking around with low riding pants...Jncos to be exact, Tank tops anything. If a girl had shorts on that wasnt mid leg...bam...sent home. I always laughed because when the cheerleaders wore their uniforms or dance team wore their uniforms for a football game Friday. (School spirit day was home games varsity games.) They walked around all day with butts everywhere. Thank god i was a jeans and tshirt kinda girl.
I died when she said spaghetti straps 😂😂🧡🧡💙💙
Tide pods?
🧡🧡💙💙?
You reading the rules in a British accent is everything 😂 I could tell you were having fun with that
Most schools in the UK have uniforms so until I wear the uniform my school has provided,I'm good!😊
The flowy pants wouldn't work for my school because they don't have any pockets and so there for they would count them as pjs😢😩
Luckily for you, they DO have pockets!
I've had pajamas with pockets... I wonder how that would work lol
now I get the point of fake pockets on women's clothes!
I used to wish we didn't have to wear uniforms but after watching about these rules I'm glad we did 😂
Honestly, uniform alleviates a lot of stress.
Oh my gosh! Your strict British headmaster impression had me rolling!!!! Love you and your content girl!
My school has like no dress code the only rule is no tube tops. Girls be having there cheeks out smh🤦🏻♀️
wow.
My school is the same way, but you can wear tube tops
lyn ramos same but We can wear tube tops❤️❤️😂😂😂
The dress code in my school is just like, don't come naked and we are good.
Dress code in denmark is "we dont even care if youre naked"
Naja R. H. Pedersen what 🤣
The first outfit would get you dress coded at my school. Shirt is ‘too low cut’ and the shorts have to be less than three inches above the knee.
The second outfit is completely fine.
Outfit #3 would get you dress coded for low necklines.
The fourth outfit would get you dress coded for the shorts length and the shirt is agin, ‘too low cut’.
The final outfit would get you dress coded for the low neckline.
We also can’t wear leggings & skirts/dresses have to be less than three inches above the knee, along with shorts. Also, ripped jeans have to be to the same status of less than three inches above the knee, along with shirt necklines, being less than three inches below the collarbone. I’m just glad we can wear sweats😂
Carrie Phillips omg what are you wearing then, seems like everything is dresscoded
Maya Fink skinny jeans and tee shirts typically, I’m not really a fancy person anyway so I don’t mind. You can also wear spandex/black leggings underneath ripped jeans so that comes in handy. Sweats are aloud too so that’s great. But my best friend’s mom has a legging (&other things) company, which makes leggings that look like jeans, so if I don’t feel like wearing actual jeans, I wear my leggings & put a hoodie over top. I’m 4’10 though, so my height comes in handy.
At one of my old schools the boys were allowed to play basketball shirtless and even if the girls were wearing leggings that had a shirt covering the butt they would get in trouble
We can’t wear leggings because “modesty is everything” ?
All I learned from my school's dress code are the following
1) Girls alone are responsible for controlling boys primal urges
2) My body limits what is deemed "modest" and "appropriate"
3) If a boy does anything to you the first question that will be asked is " Well what were you wearing?"
Wow, I didn't realize how truly relaxed my high school was with its dress code! I can't even imagine my high school career without leggings or bralettes omg!! (I graduated in 2017)
I love the flowy pants!! 💗💗 ps you are so pretty 💗
I'm from the Netherlands and we don't have dresscodes.
You almost are supposed to have an entire closet of clothes that are only for school.
Maybe they should give all students some money to buy extra "school" clothes.
That’s actually true haha, like I’m from Poland and dresscodes here are hilarious (which is kind of funny since our countries r like almost neightbours and the rules are so diffrent), they obviously favor boys while girls get slutshamed all the time
@@zuzannaskonieczna2714 Wow i didn't know that Poland has dresscodes on school.
I thought it was the same as the schools in the Netherlands.
It's really not fair for girls that they get slutshamed.
To be honest, we had no dresscode and there where no girls that had inapropriate clothes.
All girls looked just normal and not slutty at all.
I work at multiple schools in the Netherlands. Most schools have some clothing rules. They are like "no clothes that hurt someone" and fit under the no bully policy, not a dress code.
I'm from The Netherlands 🇳🇱 to and your right but I would love if we had School Uniforms..... CUZ I GET JUDGED AS H-
I forgot 2 things that teachers don't like in The Netherlands: 1. wearing a hat/baseball cap in classroom. 2. wearing your (outside) coat in classroom. (jeans jackets and blazers are o.k.)
And no chewing gum.
Some teachers are more easy going than others, but i think these rules are acceptable.
I think that they are unwritten rules, just rules of being respecful towards your teacher.
@ThaGacha Minion, school uniforms can be good i guess.
It would have made it more easy for me to chose clothes the evening or morning before going to school.
But i guess that should have shoes too with the uniform, because if the kids wear their own shoes you still see which kids have the more expensive shoes and which kids have shoes that they get bullied for.
But it's really hard i guess. Because even scooters are a status symbols at school.
And also expensive phones.
Children can be very hard towards eachother.
But to be honest, i found out that adults do the same. I learned the hard way at work.
I remember when girls would sometimes get dress coded for wearing their jeans too tight
