Ryan's cousin here. This video was a great explanation for part of Marx's theory. Thanks for breaking it down into layman terms. 😄 Can't wait to see the rest of the series. 😎👍
an important thing is that a comodity is a comodity only if it is exchanged. so when someone produces a use value that they consume themselves it is not considered a comodity by marx. this is important because one of the points he raises is the comodification of everything under capitalism. that things are produced only for the purpose of exchange
@@aliteralparadox5998 Indeed, but that distinction is unnecessary. As far as I know, virtually all commodities are exchanged as soon they are made and are placed in the supply chain. Unless we just don’t count commodities that don’t reach a consumer.
@@ArtisticLaymanyeah in this video it isn't an important distinction but at 2:15 you say comodities can be used by their producer and i thought you should keep the distinction in mind when you come to comodification in later videos
@@ArtisticLayman also you say all comodities are exchanged as soon as they are made but that is only a feature of Capitalism, not of other earlier modes of production. Its a good video and i cant wait to see the next parts but you will have to touch on comodity fetishism under capitalism eventually, and how production in this mode is made for the express purpose of exchange rather than for their use value like in other modes of production. and so thats why i pointed out the distinction
A big myth held currently is that of barter. People didn't often barter within primitive communities. For most things they'd share as long as everyone was doing what they could. Again, learn about marxism from an actual marxist, not a homophobe: ruclips.net/video/lVWwwfcQ5FA/видео.htmlsi=HvTcO7XRZdfU01r9
Underrated channel. Fantastic video 👏🏻

@@aliteralparadox5998 Thank you. Of course this videos series is about demystifying Marx, and not repeating him.
Always good to see uploads from this channel!
So glad you're back!
Huzzah! I have been knowledged. Can't wait for the rest of the series!
A brilliant and well thought out/educational return from Sir Layman himself, Rockin vid ^^ The artistic illustrations are fantastic =^-^=
This is really good
where is the critique of Marx here?
@@bismarckfamily277 I plan to start that around part 4. More to set up first.
Interesting start. Looking forward to more.

What's a homophobe?
