This Non-Euclidean Mod is the Immersive Portals Mod if you didn't know, it gives of the non-euclidean geometry feeling, it was really trippy and weird!

@@Adam-zt4cn this does look cool!
@@treehousegames7903 Well this was fast :D :D :D
And BTW, that game is what *actual* non-euclidean gemetry looks like. The one in this Minecraft vid is just compound of multiple euclidean planes. Think of it like glued together flat sheets of paper vs. a smooth sphere.
And, I should warn you. If you get interested in non-eclidean geometry too much, you'll become a *massive* nerd, and start using spooky math terms like eigenvectors, quasicrystals and apeirogonal tilings. Trust me, I've already fallen victim to that.
@@Adam-zt4cn ooooooooooh, so a non-euclidian plane is an infinite plane wrapped into a sphere? Cool, I didn't think that shape had a name! Did you know that Minecraft takes place on a non-euclidian plane?
@@treehousegames7903 Eeh, not really, it's a bit more complicated.
Huge monologue ahead, be warned.
We only really care about "homogeneous" geometries. Homogeneous means that no matter where in the space you are located, the shape of the space looks the same.
For example, no matter if you are standing on the equator of a spherical planet, or a pole of this planet, the shape below your feet look the same. Therefore, the surface of a sphere is a homogenous 2D space. That's however not the case in the minecraft vid above. The space is warped around the houses he built, but normal everywhere else in the Minecraft world.
In 2D, there are three unique homogeneous spaces:
1.Euclidean
2.Elliptical
3.Hyperbolic
Euclidean is what we all know and love, you are experiencing it right now. This space has what we call "zero curvature", A.K.A. it's flat.
Elliptical is just a fancier name for spherical. It's pretty much what you experience when traveling in a boat around the Earth. Here, the Pythagorean theorem doesn't really work. Practical example: when you are standing on the north pole, you can go 10000 km south, turn 90° left, go 10000 km east, turn 90° left, and go 10000 km north, and you'll end up again standing on the north pole, where you started from. So, you just traveled along a triangle with three right angles...
In general, any triangle you draw on a sphere will have sum of it's angles smaller than 180°.
Notice that elliptical space is finite; It has what we call "positive curvature", A.K.A. it closes in on itself.
Hyperbolic is when stuff get's *wild* .
Brace yourself, this paragraph is gonna be a big one.
When euclidean space is on a plane, and elliptical on a sphere, hyperbolic is on a *sadle* . Or, to be more exact, the actual shape is called "hypersian rug". This is the shape of the world the game I linked you is happening on, and it's the space most people are thinking about when talking about "non-euclidean geometry".
You might want to look at pictures of what it looks like, maybe hold this shape in your hand. But we run into a bit of a problem, when we try visualizing this shape in real life: for one, it's infinite, so we can only visualize a part of it. Imagine this as taking scissors and snipping off a small part of the aformentioned saddle. Second, it grows *faster* than euclidean plane, in relation to it's size; If you try to build a larger part of it by adding more material to it's edge, it gets wrinkler and wrinklier and wrinklier, until you run out of space to add new wrinkles. This explains why the "field of view" in the game I linked you to is so low: if you tried increasing it a bit, it would add an absurd amount of objects that your PC needs to render. (BTW, the game draws what you would get if you squished the shape on a flat screen, similar to how maps of the earth are a sphere slapped onto a flat piece of paper, that's why it doesn't look like a saddle in-game.)
This is because the shape has what we call "negative curvature". It means that it "unwraps" itself as you build it, and explodes in all directions.
Here, the pythagorean theorem also flies out of the window. The sum of angles in a triangle is *less* than 180°, and can actually reach near *zero*, which results in a very thin spiky triangle.
I've given you a small glimpse of the mind-bending, maddening insanity that mathematicians have to deal with. You're gonna need to understand it if you want to play the game I linked you. (But only if you want to play good. You can get pretty far by just going straight and killing enemies whenever you bump into one.)
Thanks for coming to my TED talk, which will probably only be seen by you and me. Congratulations if you reached reading this far.

This isn’t actually non euclidean geometry, that would be much more confusing.
@@dnr-vs1lk this is definitely non-euclidean. Portal is not an euclidean thing, it is violating core principles of our space. Non-euclidean isn't only uniform spherical and uniform hyperbolic, it's literally anything that isn't euclidean, that's in the name.
You don't know where the idea that "portals are not true non-euclidean" originated? I see it everywhere and it's just not correct.
I bet even the creator of this mod would be like "I was not expecting this", you really pushed it so goddamn hard, it's incredible.
When you're looking for the exit of the cave
for those of you wondering how he's doing this, he's using a mod called immersive portals where the transition between nether portals is seamless. he also retextured obsidian to look like oak planks.
I have that mod, but I have a hard time using it because my laptop has very little in the way of graphical power:(
Or if ur in 2015
ruclips.net/video/WwMZg0aRKIM/видео.html
Nope, he didn't re-texure the oak. He used portal helpers, then removed the blocks and replaced it with wood.
So it's still euclidean?
@@buzzlightyear6960 Obviously, you can't actually do that in Minecraft. It's just a really good illusion

They use alot of the same framing devices and examples as a video by RUclipsr codeparade who did the same thing using OpenGL rather than Minecraft. The second I've mentioned involves the existence of different outcomes and can be determined via the double slit experiment, proving there are equally valid different outcomes we simply can't percieve. Cooper, here, was seeing different outcomes at once and was watching things change as he acted, hence he was therefore seeing both the fourth and fifth dimensions in addition to the three spatial.
