The Minimalists are so good and we need to continue to hear you talk about downsizing your life, etc. I think it's fine to watch you on RUclips and gain a lot of information to put to use in my own world.
You're absolutely correct that people need to shut down social media at least for a while, however, a lot of people are so addicted that they could never do that.
Some people can't even be alone by themself and be comfortable.

I agree SM is not healthy for my mental health so it wouldn’t bother me if it all went away tomorrow. More time for me friends and family and volunteering at the homeless shelter

Put an ad in the local newspaper, then get the newspaper to put the ad on social media. SM is good for connecting local communities if events are created for offline. Australia’s biggest music festival was just cancelled due to low ticket sales - so need to create local music in your neighbourhood. The Salvation Army played on the back of a truck driving around the streets.

If you hang out with your best friend 24/7 you eventually get sick of each other. And thats your best friend. Social media puts the whole world in our face 24/7. People need space from one another.

Nice to see you here Griffin! Just saw you play in Boston in Feb. I think your minimalist approach to making music allows the realness to shine, whereas over-produced music lacks that human artful element. Do stay on social media at least to announce shows!

In terms of music gear, fortunately, we now have a lot of options that provide a ton of versatility, specially in the digital realm of things. Guitars for example, you can have 2 or 3 types of specific guitars and that'd give you a ton of different sounds and tones and give you the capability of playing a variety of different type of music or genres.

I sold my entire studio and all instruments and minimized everything to a laptop, 2 speakers, midi keyboard and an audio interface
My music income tripled in 3 years

"...we're getting rid of social media. We have about four million followers across all platforms and it could be a terrible business decision ..."
This is an easy-ish decision if you have already 'made it.' If one already has an established business one may not 'need' to post cat videos or publicity shots. We see it all the time by 'famous' actors scrubbing their accounts or not having one at all. George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Craig, etc etc. But if you need the 'free' advertising ...

4:14 I’m curious why RUclips wouldn’t be considered social media? I agree at first it wasn’t but with reels and shorts it’s just another SM platform no?

The desperation of RUclipsrs chasing the algorithm to stay relevant is so obvious. It’s becoming a bore.
As a GenX-er I’m burning out on social media. I’m not seeing the younger generations feeling the same way. I hope so but I don’t see it yet….
