I just purchased one for my 93 Evo Heritage after doing some research and there are a lot of guys been using them for years with no problems. To each his own. We’ll see how it goes.

Think it's a great idea. Less filters going in landfill and if you are someone who changes your own oil it's not that much more work. Besides who doesn't like working on their bike. Thanks again for another interesting topic and your doing a great job. Look forward to your videos!

Made and edit read to the end. All I have is bad to say about them. I had a book of things but the short list. These have been out since the 80s. Clue number one if they were that good 40 years later everyone would have one. 13 years building racing motors tested a few different ones and never had a good result. It is a product we call looks great on paper. I will also say hanging out around a few bike shops never heard of anyone using them. My opinion is they look cool and it kind of ends there. Those cooler fins do about as much as peeing in a pool to warm it up.
I had a book typed out and said cliff notes is good enough. Now they do have a place just not in this application or pretty much any regular use application.
I was talking to some friends who are in the biz to see if these things have changed over the years. The short answer is no. I was hoping that I was wrong. That maybe things changed in the last 10 years. If your designing a motor to work with that type system yes. They are awesome in aircraft and race motor situations. Now those elements are cleaned with a sonic cleaner. You cannot get all the particles out with brake clean.
Now with all that with its a Harley Motor and it may not matter how good or poor the filter works. The choice is yours. I have no issues with a spin on filter.

My two cents. lets think about coffee we all like coffee. if you drink coffee you have more than likely heard of the perma filter. If you have ever used on of these filters you have noticed that your coffee will have a small amount of sediment in the bottom of the pot. If you use you paper filter you get no sediment. thats because the paper does a much better job of filtering. Now with a perma filter your coffee will have a much more full bodied flavor with just a little grit at the end. But we are talking about oil here and let's face it your motor wont like a full bodied motor oil. i agree with Chuck metal filters have been out for a long time, home air filters, car filters, motorcycle filters, heck even coffee filters. If they were that good everyone would know about it and there would be no need to even discuss it.
