So you wanna prep during the week with AT-2 Then race day just orange? We will mostly be on a medium track and hopefully a High bite track , Brand new clay this year.
Undrstanding your experience is dirt racing. is there a product you would recommend for asphalt that may help revive an old unused tire? A product to preserve and extend basic tire life? Thank you.
yes in short. Basically any type of tire rubber is subject to loosing its oils over time. And what you wanna do is re introduce oils back into the rubber. Something simple like wd40 or transmission fluid can do the trick in a pinch. But if it were me I’d use Track Tac Tire Tuff specifically designed to do just that. Hope that helps.
Question. Would you recommend Hot Rolling a tire with no internal or external prep just to get the tire to open up the pores and then applying an external prep and letting it cool down once cool Hot Roll it again and reapply a second layer? Just a thought.
You also can cut the black sand with acrysol when wiping at home it helps dry faster and it limited the chance of the tire becoming shiny like shellac. Wipe a coal 60%black sand 40% acrysol then wait 45mins if dry apply another coat.
So I'm swapping my son from a burris tread to yellow vegas. Most at our track run them. I'm told our track is low bite and it's clay. So do I use black sand and then orange? My son runs a Sr champ kart. There's a few videos on my channel of the track. I'm in PA. Thanks in advance for the help. I'm totally lost with this.
Sure you can try that. Just try wiping about 3 coats of straight black sand on the tires on Sunday before a race. Allow a good 1/2 hour between coats. Then let them cure all week. When you get to the track wipe a coat of orange on before each time out to bring the tire in faster. You can do multiple wipes if u want to bring it in faster but allow to dry before next coat or going out on track.
@@kart6t3_ben ok his races are only 10-15 laps. Thanks! Plus just clean the tires with the blue cleaner after each time out? Tire prep is definitely confusing. Do I need to scuff the tires or can the black sand go directly over a new tire?
@@MudMonsterRacing4 it can but you will have better absorption if the tire is scuffed. There is a mold release from manufacturer that’s shinny. And yes blue wash in between runs.
Stupid question ... I drive a reinforced Audi S5 (550hp/730Nm) on Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and have a grip problem when starting by using Launch Control, especially at 45-50°F. Could you please advise which Track Tac product should I choose to soften the tire and to improve the grip on the asphalt?
I’m not sure your supposed to use it in Radial type tires….. with that said SAA Grape will soften the tire or SQS will give it quick bite (on a kart tire). Both are made for cold weather sub 50 degrees. Again I have zero experience or knowledge wether it would work on a car tire (but I’d assume so).
Not a stupid question at all. Can you, yes. Should you? Probably not being your first year. Most road coarse type tracks have no prep rule (either at track or a sniffer so they can tell). I’d say just get use to how your kart handles and get competitive before playing with things like prep. JMO
@@kart6t3_ben Great advice Mr. Hairychin. Ain't nothing worse than seeing a newbie stuck chasing his tail simply cause he is trying to hard. Because if they do get stuck they likely never return the following year.
Thank you for all your videos. I purchased a bunch of used tires this winter. Most of them are 1 season old, are freshly cut/surfaced etc. My question is should i be doing anything with them over winter? I hear so many different things but im looking for info from a proven racer. Thanks
If your concerned and want to do something it’s ok. A real mild treatment would be to wipe some wd40 on them. I’ve heard about wrapping them in plastic wrap but I’ve never done it, so I don’t see the need. I’ve also heard of tranny fluid as a wipe to introduce oils to into the tire, but again without experience I don’t wanna say it’s ok.
Am definitely coming to watch u race in the "spring", Paradise ??
Paradise Speedway Geneva NY. Yes.
Thanks for sharing this. Very helpful.
Your very welcome. Any questions feel free to ask. I’m no pro but I’ll try and steer you in the best direction I can.

AT2 can be used at the track as well. But orange won’t drop the duro at all just fire the tire off. As I recall AT2 has a very slight duro drop.
@@kart6t3_ben So what would you recommend during the week
@@steeda9 AT2 is fine on a medium track. I also really like gk1 blue but that causes a bigger duro drop. Depends how soft you need your tires.
@@kart6t3_ben Thank you sir

Beards looking good brother
Appreciate it.

Absolutely works. Essentially you can do that at track with a torch or heat gun so at home will be no different
You also can cut the black sand with acrysol when wiping at home it helps dry faster and it limited the chance of the tire becoming shiny like shellac. Wipe a coal 60%black sand 40% acrysol then wait 45mins if dry apply another coat.
I try and limit my acrysol use as it tends to dry the tire out. But with 60% BS that would definitely work. Good Call! Thank you.

I use it all the time.
