  • 🏨🌊 Exciting Developments in Saudi Tourism!
I had the pleasure of interviewing John Pagano CEO of Red Sea Global, the company behind the two prestigious tourism projects Red Sea and Amaala.
Here are some insights from our conversation:
🌴 The Six Senses Hotel will welcome its first visitors this year, with two more resorts, operated by Ritz-Carlton & St. Regis, set to open early next year.
🛫 The Red Sea Airport has already begun operations with bi-weekly flights from Riyadh, and they have plans to expand this service to five flights per week, connecting Riyadh and Jeddah. By the end of the year, they have their sights set on connecting with Dubai.
🏨 Amala is gearing up for a big year in 2025, with 8 hotels slated to open.
🌱 Funding options for the projects include green bonds, REITs, funds, and even the possibility of an IPO to support their ambitious projects.
💰 The overall cost of the first phase of Red Sea and Amaala is around 110bn riyal equivalent to is 27-28 billion dollars. To date, they have spent around $6 billion on Red Sea and $2 billion on Amaala.
Upon completion, the total cost of developing both Red Sea (expected completion 2030) and Amaala (expected completion 2024) will be around 200 bn riyal.
💼 Looking ahead, Red Sea Global aims to award approximately $10 billion worth of contracts between 2023 and 2024 for both Amaala and Red Sea.
🌍 But the excitement doesn't stop in Saudi Arabia. Red Sea Global has plans to duplicate their luxurious sustainable tourism model in other countries, with Europe high on their list of future destinations.
