Check out Social Call - Veronica Swift and Benny Bennack III. You are welcome.
Hey, the old video was taken down, here's the new one: ruclips.net/video/_hL2dep4Wsc/видео.html
Some good, solid, steady jazz is probably the best foundation for some flow of straight-from-the-soul scat! She's got a great voice and rhythm.
Just discovering this now. The scat is really impressive but the singing/arrangement at the start is absolutely stunning!!
That bass playing is specrtacular
Specrtacular

Very thoughtful of her wearing some spare cymbals in case of an accident for drummer.

When you have a jazz gig at 7 but you also have a musical tribute to 60's rock at 8:30.
EDIT: Jokes aside, her voice and her scatting ability are fantastic!
😂
Lool
What in the Mel Torme is going on here. Those lines are effortless. This is fire. 👏👏🔥🔥
Wow this is really one of those ‘when you know bebop moments’!
God I love Veronica swifts voice

I just fell in love
i watched this concert live on pbs when it happened! lol
"I know bebop"
Morpheus: "Show me"
It's so nice to hear a vocalist who can scat interesting lines over changes. It's unfortunately rare.
Agreed. You see why I chose this title ;)
@@dirkhonders2009 Indeed 😊.
i like how she counts her rest using her fingers
Haha that’s cool I’m actually fingering like a trumpet - I used to play and that’s when you play and push down on tpt valves- helps me focus
@@VeronicaSwiftMusic I thought that's what you were doing but I didn't want to assume! That's so awesome! Thank you for responding
@@VeronicaSwiftMusic did you just respond to my video😱
Oh my, and there was me thinking this was about Bebop from the 'teenage mutant ninja turtles' :( . haha thanks for sharing and Veronica Swift is very talented :)
oh.....
damn
She really is wonderful
Its like my kid in 30 years if they stopped progressing in spoken language...
only less than a 1000 views to go man till 100,000 :) hope you celebrate it well man. i'm really digging all these veronica swift videos on youtube :)
There we go! ;)
@@dirkhonders2009 haha EXCELLENT!!!!!
There will never be another YOU!
And you and you
In the original video at 4:30 that groove is insane and that little piano run 😋😋
she literally has cymbals for earrings
lmao
A true musician
Great vid, maybe drop the original link in the description so we can check out the original poster as well?
ruclips.net/video/1qEZ3bpCoMk/видео.html I think it's this
Will do!
@@dirkhonders2009 sweet thanks! Much appreciated
Only natural that Hod O’Brien’s daughter knows bebop. RIP to a real one
Great ideas and time feel!
I love altos
The piano guy is doing serious stuff there. Bebop piano playing is a very hard skill in my opinion.
Shababdoo, dabwee, doodoodayoooh, bip bap, shabadabee, bing boobadoo, zababadabadoo
Woah
Bee bop bop bodop bop
Bop bop bodop bop
Bee bop bop bodop bop
Hi Dirk, is it possible to get the solo transcription from you? It doesn’t have to be for free, just let me know. Many many thanks
Hi, please email me at dirkhonders@hotmail.com !
damN!
there will be other nights like this but there will never be another veronica dooby do swift
Cool Cymbal earrings :D
Damn can you transcribe that bass? Sounds incredible
You like that "thum thum thum thum thum" bass? Listen to more hard bop/ bebop, it's everywhere!
Maybe someday;)
“Bebop”? Yeah, I know that guy
Ahh!! She ah bwe bwe dabadoobied.. ha!
Nice alto sound
Isn't the original song by Chet Baker?
It’s actually by Harry Warren. Chet Baker recorded it as well though
Scatman says go ahead.
yo whats riley reid doin over here
Veronica Swift
Wow, Sting plays the trumpet?
They removed the original version :(((((
I think someone else uploaded it again:) I’ll change the link.
I was here waiting for that scat and you just cut the video where it begun... nice edit Karen...
The rest is just sort double bass-like lines, not so very interesting... and not so hard to transcribe if you would ever want to do it ;)
I approve of her earrings
That first half is good but she forgot her lines near the end.
Space is the place right?
You forgot to give credit to Chad LB on the sax!
Thanks, added it;)
I'd love to see some John Pizzarelli
I recommend that everyone check out The old Black Magic by Rachel Price if you enjoyed this
Just enjoyed it! Nice recommendation.
@@dirkhonders2009 One of my favourite songs rn. Rachel Price is simply the best
bruh's name "dirk honders" lmao he won the jackpot bro
Still waiting for that😝
um, people a hundred years ago called that "scat"... this isnt bee bopping lol. even tho she is saying "bee bop a doo" a lot. just lol with titles sometimes.
This is bebop language isn’t it?
@@dirkhonders2009 the heck is "bebop language"? it is called scat.
@@ravensnflies8167 It can be both things. It is a scat solo using bebop as opposed to scat based on blues scales/riffs. Bebop language would be defined as something like (I quote): ''Bebop uses accidental passing tones, enclosures and chromatic ideas that help extend lines longer and allow chord tones to fall on certain beats as part of the vocabulary.''
Scuba-diddle-diver
her tone reminds me a bit of Sinne Eeg
why is this so short??
I thought this the part most interesting to transcribe!
how does one play the bass that fast
00:35-00:36 ♥♥♥
I m sorry, I don't mean to be that guy but this isn't bebop ^^'. It's "There will never be another you", it's a swing even CoolJazz with Chet Baker. It's just that it's taken from med/up swing to fast swing. (If I m wrong tell me why haha, i m open to discuss it) If it was a Bebop piece she would improvise more on the flat6 (Gb) for a passing tone. Or maybe dom bebop scale ! Great video tho, a shame you didn't put the walking bass skat with the trumpet improvising !
I want her to sing the five nights at freddy's song
ella fitzgerald right there
塊魂にこんな曲あった
Riley Reid?
Almost;)
she forgot lyrics or smth?
she's singing notes.. the voice is just as much an instrument as any other. in bach he uses vocal notes and lyrics.
That sounded like a robot lol .. gah?!
A very creative robot;)
cowboy
she sounds exactly like lady gaga
i love it
She sounds like Gaga in the lower end and more like Ella in the upper
Ah yes my favorite comedienne, Lady GaGarbage
@@Solo-vh9fm Yeah! I just feel like she kind of sounds like when lady does jazz!
I would think this would be in cut time no one uses 300 bpm
Both possible I guess, depends on how you feel the quarter note
@Person Gainable no, it has always been halftime. This is a jazz standard that has been used since the 1920's.
the bass is walking in quarter notes, and in bebop 300 bpm is fast but not crazy fast. In jazz you definitely see charts written like this. in this kind of straight ahead jazz the most common way of notating swing feel is to write it in 8th notes. writing it in 150 bpm would make it 16th notes which, at least to me is harder to read, and it's usually more fitting for example funk shuffle, where the feeling is more laid back and heavy. besides, veronica swift is counting it in 300 :)
@@gabrieldahlgabridahl yea… I kinda play classical music so I wouldn’t know
Firstly that's scat. Secondly those notes you wrote are way off.... but so was her pitch.
Not much hope for Veronica and me if I believe you ;)
Chopped off in the middle of a cycle. Uncool
Didn’t think the rest of the scat was so interesting
The black face was unnecessary but very good singing.
I'm not really into Jazz, but this was impressive and awesome! That bass player is on fire and the singer is incredible!
Glad you liked it:)
.
Agreed
………
Not a great fan of the genre but I gotta admit - she and the band got talent!
Title should have been: "When you tweek out on coke and forget the lyrics on stage".
I can do the same to drumandbass and sound like i know hindi.
Easy for her to say..
time to get off the tanning bed
what would Joni Mitchell do
At what point are you just bs'ing? Its just mumble rap jazz style in a pretty dress
She does hit those notes haha
If trolling, trash. If ignorant to improvisation, that's jazz, man. Plain and simple.
It's not BS or any sort of mindless riffing. Her level of technical skill is insane.
Jazz and scat can go do one honestly.
Too bad for you... ;)
didn't catch the second half
Sounds like Patti Austin.
