Thank you so much! :) I highly recommend if you are at all interested. Super fun stuff and there is always going to be more knowledge and skills to learn.
Very nice dynamics tool for mixing with a beautiful and well thought out GUI. Glad I picked this one up. One feature I’d like to have is a readout on the attack and release knobs in milliseconds. Other than that, this plugin is sick!
I'm so glad you like it! I really appreciate the support. I have actually planned visible readouts for every slider for the next update. However, I'm not sure yet when I am going to publish it since it's not urgent at the moment. :)
@@sixthsample I think you should do it as fast as possible on this and other paid ones since (for) Clips is a utilitarian plugin rather than a creative one like Deelay (though I really want to use this as a utilitarian one) or Cramit, the lack of detail readout is one of reason I didn't fully commit my purchase on this and other paid one (though I quite liking Deelay) P.S I request the readout precision as high as 0.01 (1/100 of milliseconds), it will replace a lot of plugin for me
@@muhammadarifjaya4542 Hi Muhammad. Thanks for the feedback. I actually released visual readouts for the sliders just yesterday as you can probably see from the comment above. :) Just out of curiosity, if you don't mind me asking, where would readouts as low as 1/100 milliseconds come in handy? With a sample rate of 44100 Hz that would be less than half a sample.
@@sixthsample no, thank you for these vsts! i hope you guys have alot more in store and im looking forward to them all. if you ever need and testers hit me up!
I just bought this and I love it! One thing I noticed when I loaded it in Bitwig though is that when I put it in multiband mode it doesn't clip the output of the track any more. Is this supposed to happen?
I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you for the support. :) The multiband and singleband (ie. multiband off) are two different modes if you will. So when the multiband is on, nothing you previously had will be processed, so you can tweak individual settings for each band. Let me know if I misunderstood your question.
@@sixthsample Ok that makes, this may be redundant becuase I mentioned this in a comment on the Cramit video, but I think from a producer and mixer perspective, what would make a lot of people happy is if you added a global hardclip to the output of Clips that is after everything including the 2x oversampling so that no matter what happens in the plugin it never goes above 0db. Maybe you can toggle it on an off but I know that I would always leave it on because I am never going to let it go above 0db anyway and a setting like this would just let me not have to think about it.
@@lawinter1949 The oversampling should not prevent the signal from clipping, but for some reason it does. Great catch! I will investigate what is causing this and publish a fix in the next update. As you said, I could also just add a constant global hard clip at 0db so there wouldn't be any surprises.
@@sixthsample I would love constant hard clip on the end personally because I use another clipper called kclip, which has this thing where it’s actually dual clippers with over sampling in between, but I just don’t have to think about it, I can just push it or switch modes and it never goes above 0db. But with yours you have all those other modes which would take that to a whole new level and it would be great to not have to have a separate clipper after that Clips in the chain. Saves cpu.
Thanks for commenting. :) The shape slider makes a large range of clipping styles possible from full-on hard clipping to *very* soft clipping. I don't quite get what you mean by "more dynamic style fx", but already the plugin has a transient shaper, compressor, and gate built into it, from which all are very useful dynamics effects. I hope this answers your question. :)
@@sixthsample the clipper goes from hard to soft... same digital algorithm that's it right? I'm talking about different flavours (like K-clip offers) + you mention there's more different dynamics fx that work similar w/ threshold etc = upward compression, downward expansion, etc etc etc would be pretty cool to add
@@boimesa8190 That is correct, the algorithm is the same. However, we wanted to keep the plugin as a dedicated clipper, and adding different clipping styles would be really just adding different distortion functions. Clipping is a form of distortion usually with input/output gain linking (ie when input/drive goes up, output goes down). But you are right, it could be cool to have different flavors to it. Regarding the dynamics effects, we had to draw a line somewhere. The GUI can very easily get cluttered if too much stuff is added and the main goal for this plugin was to be a great clipper after all. I hope you understand where I am coming from. :)
@@sixthsample I totally understand but you could "easily" do some kind of "variation" knob for the clipping and not go too deep into the technical side of things. The UI could change colour depending on the clipping variation etc ;)
Thanks so much for your kind words. We indeed could have made it free, but for financial reasons we have to have some paid plugins as well. Thank you for understanding. I hope you have an awesome rest of the weekend! :)
