I had seen Joe Pera in the past and watched most episodes, something about his soft demeanor made me feel safe. This last year I admitted myself to the psych ward, it was my third stay but it was the first time I had admitted myself before actually attempting something.
I was shook up and scared, tossing and turning, I didn't even want to turn the TV on because most of the time television upsets me... and it did. I turned it on and the tail end of a Rick and Morty episode played, but after it ended Joe Pera came on, and most of my fear simmered down. Adult Swim played 4 episodes back to back at such a scary time in my life and for a brief moment I cried and didn't feel so overwhelmed.
I don't owe my life to Joe Pera or anything, but like a good friend, he was there for me when I needed him most.

I listened to 'Relaxing Old Footage with Joe Pera' last night for the 1st time. He somehow escaped me until I very recently found this review of yours. Thanks a lot for introducing his content to me. You're the best. I swear, Adult Swim is full of geniuses. Mr. Pera reminds me of my grandpa/Papy, dad & uncles with how he talks. I can almost hear their long-lost conversations about grown-up stuff when I watch him.

This looks fantastic! I spent my early-mid 20's with the older shows on Adult Swim like Aqua Teen's first 6 or so seasons among some other shows airing in that time frame, and it's really great to see some young talent carry that torch of similar spirit to entertain the younger generation of 20-somethings today!

It’s worth mentioning that the show feels so authentic because in part, the topics featured in the episode often are thing the real Joe Pera is into. And apparently he’s a lovely person if you meet him. Too bad the show didn’t get a 4th season, Joe Pera said he would have liked to give it a more proper conclusion
Also, this is a wonderful composed description of why this show is so great.

I think what made this show standout of the others it’s the fact it is innovative in a sense that it’s not what the common general public is used to see (some super hero bs or something that’s has to be thought provoking or a action to be thrilling). It just a simple concept putted in a heartwarming character
And, to me, it’s more than enough and a breath of fresh air

Joe pera is one of the greatest shows I’ve ever watched. I have incredibly niche reasons for loving it. My family is from northern Michigan and the show takes place there too. Not the same region but the same vibe. And it really helped me through a pretty difficult part of my life mentally and it still does. It’s just incredibly charming and is set in the same world we are now and sorta is a head on take of nihilist thoughts and the strange modern world we’re in. His relationship with Sarah he has in the show is so truly charming and the shows end made me tear up a bit. It’s just such a sweet show that feels so real and is something you can relate both in easy or difficult times someone might be going through. Like he said it’s honestly not a very deep show at all. I’ve taken deeper meanings on it personally that makes me happy, but it’s just wonderful, and it is legit hilarious at times.

there's a channel called Townsends that's historical reenactment of the 18th/19th century, dude named Jon that makes old recipes and shows you how they made/did stuff back then. Joe Pera has been a guest in a couple videos, one where he reads an old travel journal and one where he helps Jon build a stool

as an autistic person, Joe Perra talks with you has been one of my favorite shows, it perfectly captures, to me, the experience of being autistic. people lament "a cold unfeeling existence" but really, my life is filled with joy for the mundane, and episodes of Joe Perra being me to tears nearly every time. its like, i see someone like me on screen for the first time. someone who loves live as much as me in the way i do, and yes! its comedy, its so goddamn funny it's its dry wit, but its also just, so good
