+Reina Walker Same... I didn't really get the plotline, but Kalani definitely pulled my eyes more than the other girl.
The plot was about the rivalry between two famous ice skaters, Tonya and Nancy. Tonya sent someone to hurt Nancy, which ended with that someone hitting Nancy's leg with a tool or something and hurt leg before a competition. But in the end, Nancy ended up beating Tonya in a national championship. I dont know the details, but I think this is close enough haha. That's why at 0:36 she hits her leg and at the end Kalani (Nancy) was waving and Sarah (Tonya) was on the floor.
nina_luv_quirk what happened was they were rivals at figure skating and Tonya got her ex husband to hit Nancy's knees with a crow bar or a metal bar (I am not 100%) and she obviously was caught and was banded from figure skating for life. Just that Tonya was so determined to compete at the olympics that she went to the extremes.
Some of the details above are a little off, but close. Just do a quick search for either of their names on Google or RUclips and you'll find all kinds of information about it. It all happened surrounding the 1994 Winter Olympics.
this duet screamed Maddie And Chloe to me its like

ThomasProductions2000 I agree, except the other way around. Nancy was the American sweetheart, just like Maddie. Tonya was always kind of in the shadow, getting shade and hate for everything. Everyone liked Nancy better, although they were pretty much equally good. No hate to any of the dancers or skaters tho, they’re all very talented and great athletes :) nothing but respect!
Sera Simone Arda Yeah it's defiantly the other way around. Also Chloe looks more like Tonya so it'd only make sense.

I would say other way round because Maddie looks more like Nancy and Chloe looks more like Tonya.

You can tell how young some viewers are due to the fact that they don't know who Nancy and Tonya are.

I think this could of been a national duo if they actually shown more of the story then dancing. Yes I know it's a dance comp but in the last text Paige had like 5 seconds and had nothing else to do and the last text is a classic

Right! That's what I said. I also felt like had it been choreographed with figure skating moves in mind it would have been better. They should have danced as if they were doing tricks on ice. I also don't think it captured the rivalry between Harding and Carrigan.

Well it was still no reason to not place. They judge the numbers on technique, choreography, presentation, and level. It doesn’t really have to do with the story itself.

This is actually one of my favorite dances Abby has choreographed for Kalani. It really showed her technique and beautiful lines.
Despite the good technique, They didn't place because they didn't tell a story. I didn't feel inspired or empowered or get the vision of the Nancy and Tonya rivalry from this.

Tonya was always a piece of work, but in all fairness, she did NOT club Nancy Kerrigan on the knee. Too much of a stretch right from conception for me.

Well the movie was written from her side so I don't know if you can count it as a liable source. However whether she was involved or not the piece was beautiful and with just two dancers on the stage "Tonya" had to be the one clubbing "Nancy".. how else would they have done it?
The man who did the clubbing resently said that Tonya wasn't involved in the planning has far has he knew. but I don't know what believe other then Tonya was a scared abused and neglected individual at the time abit like a messed up kid.

This dance is a summary of why ALDC isn't as impressive as the other well-known studios with advanced kids. This is a duet about a famous incident in iceskating being preformed by two girls from a different studio. Does that seem like a top studio to you?

Don't you think they should have incorporated some figure skating type moves into the dance to make it a better story telling? My DD figure skates, and this didn't look anything like what she does.

The movie I, Tonya (which is about the story the dance should portray) is probably my favorite movie ever!!! Now I’m a huuuge fan of Tonya, that’s why I would’ve loved to see Kalani do Tonya‘s part😁😂😍
This has been my favorite duet so far this season!! It definitely told an amazing story and I thought the girls did great. Both of them are so talented, I thought it was wonderful!

I still think this duet deserved to get placed, it may not be the best choregraphy ever but they had amazing technique and control.

I'm not surprised that this didn't place. It was like they were doing two separate solos right next to each other. There was absolutely no connection between them. Not only that but you could really see Sarah's flaws when she danced beside Kalani.

someone who im close with trained with tanya and nancy AND NANCY TRAINED AT MY STUDIO FOR DANCING WITH THE STARS

I'm sorry but with Abby's mediocre choreography, Kalani's talent will never be showcased properly. Watch her solos choreographed by Alexa Moffett and you'll see how amazing she is.

I love how Nancy was better than Tonya so Kalani was standing up at the start and Sarah was on the ground, and then after Tonya hit Kalani, Sarah was standing up and Kalani was on the ground. And then Nancy got better so they were on the same level standing up. Pretty clever
