I used to tape a Sony 8 handy cam on top of my MX helmet for Moto footage! Felt like a brick on my head! LOL Now i can wear 5 cameras and not even know they are there!
Super cool. I would love to see you run lap times on a track like this with both nitro and brushless cars and see how they fair against each other. I own multiple of both, but I'm not nearly the driver that you are. I quit racing 25 years ago. 😁 I just do my best not to break parts every ten minutes these days.

I used to race in the hay day in the late '70s through the late '80s of RC! I wish we would have had to GoPros at that time! Incredible video what an incredible almost driver seat view of what it's like to do four times what a real car would do in speed you got to love scale gas thank you for the video exceptional!

I said once and I will say it again. You are an ambassador for the hobby/sport we all love so much. Always in the leading edge of videography. One question thought. Do you feel the difference in weight adding a GoPro onboard? And have you ever tried going with a naked GoPro. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the kind words and great question. Yes I do feel the weight. I always raise front ride height 3 turns when I put the GoPro on. It is felt more on off cambers and higher grip tracks. Lower grip tracks I don’t feel it quite as much. One negative of the Hero 10 over the 8 is that the 10 is bigger and heavier. I haven’t tried the naked in this application yet. I’ve abused the 8 and 10 a lot but not sure if the naked could handle the amount of abuse. But I’m sure it would be less noticeable on the car. If this video get to a million views I’ll get the naked and give it a go. 👍🏼😁
This is also a good way for him to tell which way the car wants to lean in the air and if its staying true and probably a little more downforce in the front never hurts , its insane how good he is he makes this look very easily people and it isnt if he could see that view during a race itd be a clead advantage but u cant and its not easy too look ahead and watch ur car at the same time the actual driving is easy its the view u have from your racing standpoint that gets most
Videography tech has evolved so much over the years! God that final straight just activates my neurons. But man I have to nag about the wiped clean tracks...At this point we can go race on carpet directly, it"s the same.
For sure the GoPro Hero 8 really changed the game for onboard on RC cars. I personally agree on the onroad track with jumps. I do prefer the now ‘old school’ real offroad tracks.

I noticed your car seemed to pick up speed after a couple of laps. Is this a function of the engine coming up to temp? And maybe also as you got more comfortable on the track? Anyway, nice to see a run on a track that is not blowing dust, lol.
Yes I only got these 4 laps to run as the track was closed after the A final. Engine was still warming up a bit and I had to learn to drive it with the GoPro on it it as it affects performance.
Not that I’m aware of yet. Because cameras capable of quick instantaneous feed transmission don’t have the good enough quality as the GoPro has yet. Couple more years and hopefully tech will be there.

Yeah offroad can still be rough and loamy but now many tracks also use track glue of some sort to keep the surface hard and compacted.

Mayby 65-70 km/h not more. Nitro RC not so Powerfull as Electro RC Cars.
Approximately 65 kph.
Actually if we also ran Ebuggy at this race we turn nearly the exact same lap times with nitro or electric.

how do you drive that you would need a very high speed video live feed or to be standing up really high above the entire track?
As you can see in the cover frame. That drivers stand in the left of the picture is where we stand overlooking the track.

Kind of off topic but I raced in the BMX world finals in 09 and it was also about 80% packed dirt and 20% concrete as well.

Surprised we don't see so much ballooning of the tires. Even in slow motion the tires look like they are staying pretty flat.
This track required much harder tires. You will see ballooning more on the looser tracks that require softer compounds.

It’s off-road but I understand your question as I prefer the true off-road surfaces.

We do not. We race from a stand about 20’ off the ground overlooking the track.
