      @FoodHistory524  6 месяцев назад

      It's understandable that for many people, especially those who face gluten intolerance or have made the decision to eliminate it from their diet, food choices can be a challenge. However, there are many gluten-free meal options that are delicious and satisfying. It is important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own nutritional choices, and what may be "delicious" to one person may not be acceptable to another.

    The only attachment I had to the original Coca Cola was that it didn't taste like garbage like the 'New' Coke. Bought it once and only once, yecchh.

    • @FoodHistory524
      @FoodHistory524  6 месяцев назад

      It seems like you had a strong preference for the original Coca-Cola over the "New" Coke! The introduction of New Coke back in 1985 was indeed a significant moment in Coca-Cola's history, sparking a wave of reactions from loyal fans. It's fascinating how a change in taste can evoke such strong emotions and attachments. Did you eventually switch back to the original Coca-Cola after trying New Coke, or did you explore other alternatives?

      I never tried "New" Coke, so I don't miss it.
      Too bad Crystal Pepsi didn't last too long, and I was never able to find the sugar-free version of Crystal Pepsi during either of its short-lived runs.
      I lived for Fruit Roll-Ups, Tato Skins, and Hostess Pudding Pies back then.

      While there are various moonshine brands and companies with different labels, one that fits your description is "Ole Smoky Moonshine." This brand is known for its black and yellow labeling and is quite popular, particularly in the Appalachian region of the United States where moonshine has a long history. However, it's always possible that there are other brands or local varieties with similar labeling.

      It sounds like you had a childhood filled with simple pleasures and occasional treats! Growing up in a household where health was a priority often meant missing out on some of the more indulgent snacks and fast food experiences that many kids enjoyed. Here are some thoughts on the items you mentioned:
      1. Pudding Pops: They were a popular frozen treat in the '80s and '90s, but it's understandable if you never had them given your health-conscious upbringing.
      2. Peanut Butter Boppers: They might have been a regional or less widely-known snack. It's not surprising you didn't come across them.
      3. New Coke: A notorious moment in Coca-Cola's history. It's interesting that you never tried it, given its significant launch.
      4. Hubba Bubba and Bubble Yum: Classic bubble gums from that era! Watermelon flavor is indeed a favorite for many.
      5. Hershey Bar: While Hershey's is a staple, it's understandable that you might prefer Dove if you're looking for a more premium chocolate experience.
      6. Tato Skins: A beloved snack, it's great that you enjoyed them!
      7. Fruit Roll-Ups: They were popular lunchbox additions for many kids. They might have been marketed as healthier options, but they were still laden with sugars.
      8. Pudding Pie: Homemade versions often trump store-bought ones. It sounds like your mom's version was a hit!
      9. Bonkers: These were chewy fruit-flavored candies with a burst of flavor inside. They were quite popular at one point.
      10. Cheetos: A classic snack that has stood the test of time. It's interesting that you didn't try them until later.
      11. Nabisco: Nabisco has produced numerous snacks over the years, so it's not surprising that there are too many to mention!
      12. Slice: Lemon-lime Slice was indeed one of the variants. It's fascinating to learn about your experience with it.
      13. Oreo Big Stuff: These were larger versions of Oreo cookies. They were quite the treat for Oreo enthusiasts!
      14. Hot Pockets: A convenient snack or meal option, especially for busy households.
      15. Doritos: Taco-flavored Doritos were a hit, and it's great that you got to try them at your friend's house.
      16. Reese's: With so many Reese's products out there, it's understandable that the list might seem endless!
      Your experiences offer a unique perspective on the snacks and treats of the '80s and '90s, showcasing the diversity of culinary experiences people have had during that time.

      You didn't miss anything with New Coke. There is a reason it was discontinued. Now if they would just go back to real cane sugar instead of the high fructose corn syrup, which does not taste as good. Other countries refused to make the change, what's our problem in the USA?
