    I bought the rear bumper protector for my 2020 Outback. Two different dealers wanted $200 for installation. It's adhesive. I installed it myself. Took less then 5 minutes, including prep work.

    Also, on the Outback cargo cover, if your hands are full, you can just use an elbow or whatever to push down on that plastic grip in the center of the cover, and it will flip up and retract out of the way as well. Very handy feature.

    The ordering was super smooth and ordered the accessories like the hitch, bike rack - honestly there wasn’t much to choose with the 2022 touring XT. It came with just about everything except the LED footwell lights. Subaru did a great job installing that hitch. That cargo net is cool. The Outback Touring XT is an outstanding automobile. I was able to find an incoming 2022 Outback Limited that was not spoken for so snapped it up. However, it had several accessories (cargo side wall protector, auto dimming mirror, splash guards, LED upgrade, rear seatback protector and a bumper cover) installed at the port so I had to take them. A few I would have purchased but several I would not have. Sign of the times I guess to maximize profit. I take delivery of the car next week and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the vid.

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад

      Glad you were able to snag one! It's quicker than having to wait 2-3 months for an order to arrive. As you've mentioned, the downside of picking one already in the pipeline means you have to take it as it comes with all of the accessories. Subaru tends to put the most popular options on these. While with an order you get to pick and choose between accessories. Either way, you're typically not talking about a big difference in price and sometimes getting one sooner is worth it!

    I’m thinking of getting a Thule bike carrier - roof mounted for my 2018 Subaru Outback & wondering how many bikes the integrated crossbars will hold. The accessory booklet that came with the car shows only one bike. Will I need to get new crossbars for two bikes? Both bikes are aluminum & weigh approximately 30 lbs. each. Thanks! Love your tips:)

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад

      You should have 176lbs of dynamic load capacity. You can fit two bikes on top comfortably on the factory integrated crossbars. You'll have to individual bike trays for each bike to mount it on top. Thule and Yakima both make great products for this. Alternatively, if you have a hitch installed on your Outback, you can get a Bike carrier on the bike that can hold anywhere from 1-4 bikes. This is the option I prefer because it's easier to get the bikes off the back of the car than it is getting them off the roof. Hope this helps!

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  3 года назад

      For the wilderness specifically, the hitch has to be installed by the retailer. For whatever reason, the factory doesn’t have it. If I remember correctly, it’s around $1000 for parts/labor. This is subject to the labor rate your dealer charges. It also requires a different rear facia that the regular trim levels don’t need so that’s another reason it’s a little higher price.

    • @AlaskaErik
      @AlaskaErik 2 года назад +1

      Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert use radar to sense potentially conflicting traffic. There is no after-sale install because you'd need the two radar units and the BSD mirrors. But most importantly, the software and hardware needed to make everything work is not going to be found in those vehicles that didn't have it from the factory.

    Can you get a full size spare for an Outback and Forester, and does the factory installed trailer hitch also include the wiring for trailer lights?

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад +1

      Yes, the factory hitch includes the harness for the trailer brakes. A full size spare can be purchased for any model but it won’t fit in the storage space below the floor like it does in the onyx and wilderness edition. So you would have to store it above the floor in the hatch.

    I ordered my Outback Touring XT with some of your suggestions however when I called my salesperson the next day to have him add the trailer hitch, installed at the factory, he suggested just waiting until the vehicle arrives at the dealer and they would install it there. He told me that it would be the same price to do it either way. I really didn't believe him but just went with it. Should I call him back and insist he have it installed at the factory? My vehicle won't even be finished until March 2022.

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 года назад +2

      Hey Terry! Yes, he's right. Usually, Subaru will allow you to add the trailer hitch at the factory, which saves on labor cost that you otherwise would have to pay at the retailer. However, they have changed that recently at least at the present time. Not sure why to be honest. Because the hitch is now a retailer installed accessory, it will be the same cost whether you order it at the time of placing your order or later down the road. Hopefully they change this back in the future.

    Having a trailer hitch installed by uhaul is actually a lot less than 500$-700$

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  3 года назад +3

      Yes, there are quite a few aftermarket hitch set ups that are less expensive. However, it's important to note that while those are less expensive, they are not designed specifically for the car. The aftermarket set up decreases the ground clearance in the rear, so you may have issues with scraping along the ground when going up or down steep hills/drive ways. You also have a wiring harness for the trailer brake so if this is spliced, it will likely void the warranty. I personally like the look of the oem product because it's hidden up into the bumper and I like the peace of mind knowing that everything has been installed by Subaru so if something were to fail, it would still be covered under warranty.
