Thank you for continuing to react to The Singer competition. Uptown Funk wasn't his best song, nor did it get great reults, but you can see how much fun he had with it. With his accent, don't forget that he didn't speak English at the time. He sang all the English songs phonetically. And he does do pop, but later.
Sadly you left out Autumn Strong. This was the first song he sang in Mandarin. He was so grateful to his Chinese audience for welcoming him so warmly that he wanted to say thank you in this way. He only had a week to learn the lyrics and the correct pronunciation. That was very important to him. A really tough job. From the reaction of the audience you can see that he has mastered it with flying colors. Many Chinese reactors also said that his pronunciation was almost perfect. The song is very emotional and I recommend to take the link on Gloria Wu’s channel as it shows the background story. Autumn Strong is a song he always sings in his concerts. Every time it is a very emotional moment.

You can't comment on Dimash's English as a Kazakh speaker and then as a native English speaker say 'pronounciation' instead of 'pronunciation'. Naughty.
Here Dimash is participating in "I am a singer" China 2017. He presented a very varied repertoire and received a standing ovation. The public (500 people) was also the jury who voted in each presentation. There were 14 or 15 presentations and Dimash rose to stardom from the broadcasts of this contest. Dimash being the youngest contestant was also a foreigner for this reason he would not have won first place which was reserved for a local Mandarin Chinese speaker, as I read in a comment on the web.
This is, I think, his poorest performance of a song in this competition and is likely the one which lost him the competition by the smallest of margins. He is very used to singing this with his music buddies and they sound good when they do it but for some reason it didn't quite hit the mark for this audience (the 500 judges!). I think they really enjoyed it but didn't think it was as vocally impressive as his other performances. Still a good effort, a good cover and great energy.

He only started learning English in China & was learning Chinese at the same time! So difficult!! We Dears like his 'Dinglish' as we call it lol! This proves he can sing ANYTHING & sound great!! Another great reaction 👏 😆

In his concerts he runs, jumps & dances for 3 - 4 hours & always sounds great. He swims in an Olympic size pool regularly to increase his lung capacity, hence the extra long notes & the ability to sing even when puffed.
Many Dears do not like this performance, do not talk about it and would prefer to make it disappear. Dimash couldn't pick most of the songs himself... but he did a brilliant job on this one too. I think this achievement is great. A real entertainer. There aren't any opportunities for Dimash to show off his vocal prowess, but his entertaining side does. He knocked the audience (they are the judges) and the competitors out of their seats and everyone had endless fun...this is art!!! Sometimes it's all about entertainment.
His English wasn't available in 2017, but the song doesn't need that. It was a competition though, so he didn't get many votes and almost got kicked out of the competition. In the next episode he sang adagio and took first place.
And this was his "worst" performance on the show. He did not like the performance as well.

Also, he has gotten a lot better at dancing, for his Dears.
Not good ,Voice is too high pitched and need to slow down the tempo.Funk is not his wheelhouse.

You skipped episode 4, Autumn Strong. Its the first time he sings in Chinese and he learned it in a week. I've watched Chinese speaking reactors and they say his accent isn't bad. Chinese Mandarin is one of the hardest to learn, cause one small wrong inflection and it can ruin a verse. Hope you are enjoying the Dimash journey.
Daididau is also a great song, its in his own language with traditional instruments.
