G'day mate, l revisited this how to video to check out a few things and to get some inspiration!! I finished doing the hoodlining and also retrimmed the inserts in the doorcards...all in black and looks mint. Eff those torx screws, tested the patience just a tad. The advice to use a piece of the material to smooth out whilst covering was on point ☝️☝️ Cheers bro, lovin' the channel.
Did exactly the same way but I did mine all black to keep it modern. The inside plastics, grab handles & visors were all NOS OEM from Holden. Great video for those who want to DYI & most satisfying!
No more circus tent roof! Rolling 1-2 sheets of sound deadening material onto the roof before refitting the headlining also makes a massive difference to acoustics and even as insulation!
Cheers bro for the how to video. I'm doing the hoodlining in my VU UTE. I purchased black velour off eBay, 2mtrs x 1.5mtrs for $45.00. Being a retired Upholsterer l have industrial contact adhesive which I'll use a compressor and spray gun to apply. It was good to see you turned the edges over all around for a better finish, it makes it near impossible for it to come away again. Keep sharing and enjoying your content.
Super satisfying. One thing I've recently did on my car for $25 was a stitch on leather wheel cover. Took a total of say an hour and a half and the results are amazing. As we all know the later V'series suffer from the wheels getting worn. Enjoying the vids, keep it up boys.
Did my ve ute liner, decided to be a tight ass and hand washed the original, found the glue/ foam came off really easy which lead me to squirting off the roof liner too, worked brilliantly!!!! Then used one of those plastic/rubber spray on aerosols, needed a few coats but worked out awesome Regards Matthew
Torx are used on the visors as they are considered a safety device.. and every Joe blow has a Philips head screwdriver. Stops people messing with them ya know. Good job big guy!
Thanks for this vid. I was gonna pay someone to do this for my maloo but turns out its piss easy and way cheaper to diy. Did mine this morning in about an hour
Hell yeah man! That's mint! Love when you guys get motivated to give it a crack and nail it off the back of one of the vids. Enjoy a well earned cold one mate 🍻
Hey boys good job, I just did my headliner on my vs clubsport, it had a non factory sunroof, I deleted it, patched and repainted and put in a new headliner.it makes a huge difference, I also put in a statesman interior light with the 2 forward facing map lights. Do you guys have any 304 parts like a block for a stroker build I want to do. I put a wanted add on gumtree and the only responses I got were from Sydney and Melbourne with big freight costs it's not worth it. So I thought of you guys, being close to where I am. A 304 solid lifter or roller I'm not fussed but a roller cam block would be great, anyhow keep up the great work and the vids. 🇭🇲👍
Amazing the difference a fresh headliner makes hey Troy? We've got a couple spare bits mate but they're all already earmarked for future shenanigans. Like you said, it's starting to get a bit thin on the ground, so gotta hold onto what you can!
Hard to say, without knowing the condition of your current fabric. Have seen people scrape all the foam off and reglue the separated material back onto the headliner, but the result isn't as good. If the budget allows, I'd 100% splurge on fresh material.
Great work Jordan. One thing I forgot to mention in the video, and the reason I used the Forch adhesive, was its heat rating! A regular spray on adhesive will never hold up to an Aussie summer unless the car is always under cover. So while it's fine to use a cheap fabric, don't skimp on the glue 🤙🏻
@@TorqHub $3 for the black fabric and $25 on a decent adhesive glue from supercheap. The new headliner look really good. Like you said it’s all in the prep work
Hey mate, we still have it! It's currently sitting in a storage shed waiting for its turn in the queue. Too many cars on the go, we may have been a little bit ambitious lol. But we'll get to it sometime in 2025 with any luck!
You won't find this problem in your Japanese cars or South Korean cars. I never owned any European cars, therefore, don't know what happens to them. However, the GMC cars (they say Aussie, I say American) have this terrible problem. Oh, how I hate Holden vehicles - dead elephants.

I'll be having fun doing the VX Wagon looks to be four times the length, thanks you make it look easy you are an inspiration!
Yeah will be about 3m of material for a wagon or thereabouts, but the process is the same. Hope it comes up mint mate 💪🏻

That sound deadener is definitely amazing stuff, but it sure is heavy!
That’s a crackin job Jeff well done need to do the roof lining in my new vy thanks for the tips mate keep the great work coming
Thanks Drew, get stuck into it mate 💪🏻

Have seen those wheel cover kits. Might be something to look into if we're feeling frivolous 😅
How rewarding is a fresh headliner! 👌🏻 I did my vs clubby and vt daily and couldn't be happier with the results! 🥰
A simple project that makes such a MASSIVE difference to the 'feel' of the car when you're in it 👌🏻

Nice work Matthew. Have seen people reuse the fabric without the foam before. Good budget fix to get you out of a bind 👍🏻
Great to demystify the process of replacing a roof liner… gives me confidence to have a go 👍😊
'Demystify', I like that haha. It's definitely the fear of the unknown, but if a hack like myself can do it, anyone can!
Torx are used on the visors as they are considered a safety device.. and every Joe blow has a Philips head screwdriver. Stops people messing with them ya know. Good job big guy!
Well there ya go, you learn something new everyday. Although it still seems silly, haha.
Great job Jeff…well done
Thanks Jason 🍻
Looking amazing nice job
Came up mint. Cant wait to see the new project
Cheers Matty 👌🏻
Awesome man I just picked up a bunky BF on the w/e that needs this doing to it, so I'll be giving it a crack myself, cheers!
Absolutely mate, no need to outsource if you've got basic tools and some patience 👌🏻
Thanks for this vid. I was gonna pay someone to do this for my maloo but turns out its piss easy and way cheaper to diy. Did mine this morning in about an hour

Well done. I'm tempted to do my VZ Crewman
If it needs doing mate, you'd be mad not to. Such a satisfying job once it's back in there 🤙🏻
Dude ur awesome loved your video helpful with just the right amount of humour 👍🏽
Thanks mate, stoked you enjoyed the content! 🍻
Cheers for the info man
No problem dude 👌

Good job mate, well done
Ole freeY is coming along nicely bud
How’s the list for rego looking ?
Thats the next mission mate, fingers crossed it's not too bad 🤞
Nice job, and you sorta made it look simple, but I’m still not attempting it 😂
It really is that simple Pat!
Hi do I need new fabric or will the old fabric do?

@@TorqHub Yeah I'll have to see once I take the fabric off
Black cloth would have been a bad choice as anything black gets very hot in hot weather.
Cost me $30 to redo my, good old spotlight 🤙🏻

You still got this ute?
Still got it mate! Have had other builds to get through but it means we've been saving our pennies and collecting parts!
This is getting a turbo 😉
@TorqHub Sick should do a offroad build I think that'd be epic not many lifted commys so would be different
So what happened to this car? No more vids on it
