  • This is the final video in a short course where I talk about what a horoscope is, what is in a horoscope, and how to move around it a bit. I also talk about some of the basic tools we use with the horoscope such as planetary periods, sign periods and transits. This is the course for people who are completely new to astrology.
    Discover the fascinating world of Vedic astrology and its incredible tool, dasas! In Vedic astrology, dasas refer to planetary periods or sign-based periods that activate different aspects of your birth chart. With countless dasas in play, these periods awaken specific planets and signs, bringing forth their unique effects. Unlike Western astrology, which has largely overlooked this concept for centuries, ancient Greek and Persian astrologers also utilized similar systems. The most common dasa you'll encounter is Vimshottari, spanning 120 years as each planet cycles through its awakening and influence. Join us as we delve into the intricate timing work and predictive power of vedic astrology's dasas!

    Ernst, great video. What I am still trying to make sense of is the antardasha cocept and how that relates to the mahadasha. For example, I have your kala software, and according to the Vimshotarri system, I am currently running Jupiter/vEnus/Saturn/Venus dasha. How does one interpret the effects of each sub antardashas and such?

      There are several things you have to examine between the two planets, too much to tell in writing here.

    Thank you Ernst for inspiring and clarifying about dasas...
    Sometimes I get depressed interpreting with Vimsottari dasa, other times excited, now I understand!
    Definitely You are my Jyotish Guru. if the supreme Lord wants in the future I would like to study more from you.
    One question, what's the book on Vimsottari dasa you mentioned?
    Namaste!

    Interesting! Ernst, do you use Ashtottari dasa too? And do you use it as a supplemental dasa or the main one (and ignore Vimsottari)? (I mean the cases when Ashtottari dasa applies, i.e. Rahu is in quadrant from Lagna Lord, but not in Lagna; daytime births in Krishna paksha and night time births in Sukla paksha)?

    • @ErnstWilhelm
      @ErnstWilhelm  6 лет назад +1

      I use it just as a supplement, in fact, I prefer rasi dasas of Jaimini in general and so don't use ashtottari as much as I used to in the past.

    Hi Ernst! I noticed after going on your website that the dasha periods are different on the site from the "Ernst wilhelm" setting on Kala. Do you know what would be causing the discrepancy? And, which one is correct? They are off by quite a bit.

    • @ErnstWilhelm
      @ErnstWilhelm  5 лет назад +2

      They should be the same, check to see if kala is using nakshatra year or saura year for nakshatra dasas, should be saura.

    What was the book that Ernst mentioned about Vimsottari Dasa?

  • @myplacidcave
    @myplacidcave 6 лет назад +1

    Hi Ernst, at the start you said vimshottari works better on sidereal. So if one doesn't have access to Rashi dashas, or say you personally when you look at vimshottari, do you look at sidereal zodiacs just for that purpose? Or it's perfectly fine to use the vimshottari given in Kala? I hope it's ok to use the Kala dashas as given on your site. Is it ok to look at Jaimini karakas, and look at vimshottari to see when it might come to fruition. If the DK planet is in the 7th house, and you're about to start the pratyantar dasha of that planet in vimshottari, is it safe to assume some results pertaining to DK may be actualized in that period?

    • @ErnstWilhelm
      @ErnstWilhelm  6 лет назад +2

      No, everything works better on tropical rasis. What I said is that sidereal calculations are required for Nakshatras which are used for calculating vimshottari.

    Don't you agree that there's actually only 360 Birthdays over 364 days per year that are shared by billions of people scattered over the entire surface of the globe and those candles and balloons come out every day of the year? It's so totally amazing how different each person is, even though they all share the same birthdays.
