Your videos are very genuine and fun to listen to! I look forward to continuing your series. I recently began solo roleplaying as a means of reconnecting with my inner child in a way that feels guided and authentic. As a kid, I always played pretend games with nothing but my imagination, whether it was with friends or alone. Now as an adult, I find it difficult to rekindle that creativity and passion for telling stories, and have turned to solo roleplaying. I can justify it to my logical brain as saying "nah, we're not playing pretend - we're playing a published game system and using a GM emulator to help us make a story to provide context to the game". I am still very new to the solo roleplay hobby and hope to experiment with it more and find my comfort zone. So far I have exclusively used the Mythic Game Master Emulator v2 in conjunction with DND 5e (though in a Weird West setting) and The Warren by Bully Pulpit Games. I plan on also using the emulator alongside the Heroscape skirmish game, as a way of creating a narrative and giving me ideas for unique scenarios to play with the fan-made solo rules! Do you plan on filming any play sessions? I would love to see what tools you use and how you interpret oracles!
What a wonderful way to deal with your inner critic. (Mine is named "Frank.") I haven't planned on taping any gaming sessions, as they're not very 'performative' or exciting to watch, but I might do some "Here's how I handle stuff" videos for sure. Thanks for watching & I look forward to keeping our conversation going in future videos!
Great take on all the benefits of doing Solo Roleplaying! I 100% agree with you, this is not only a viable, but an incredible way to experience these kind of games that is VERY different from traditional in a GOOD WAY, allowing for tons of customization and experimentation as well... And why not get the best of both worlds by still doing traditional too for the social? Also, this is my official request for a future video with a Tarot demonstration leaning into your background and expertise and thoughts about how to best integrate it.
Thanks for the thoughts! And I'll be moving my Tarot video up a few spots in the production pipeline; thanks for letting me know you'd like to see that.
Are you team solo yet?
