If you want the pop of thing for flies do this:Hold down the SHIFT [ Windows ] or ALT [ Mac ] key and click Restore in iTunes simultaneously iTunes restore.

OK, here is my story: had the error codes 1611 or 20 depending; what ended up correcting the issue and unbrick my 1st gen ipod was 1-use windows 7 2-use itunes 11 3-use .ipsw file for ipod1: 1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore
