Thanks for your video! Re Lubricant: lamp oil from hardware store (which is paraffin oil with no odour, and quite cheap) freed mine up that was stuck from previous owner using vege oil. Also that switch.. the new ones have a magnetic switch that switches to the off position if power is lost. Considering that kitchen staff may not be high IQ this is probably a good idea. They are quite cheap in 2024 from places like Aliexpress
a hint for the hex key issue you were having at 22:57... try a torx bit, iirc t20 is the one that usually works. this goes for everyone else that's ever struggled with a hex key rounding off screws - torx will get it out.
This meat slicer looks like a professional one, we have them here in Belgium in all foodstores to slice meat, cheese, charcuterie etc.... You can tell the amount of cleaning when you bought some cheese that is sliced with such a slicer, when they open a new piece of cheese, and the cheese gets signs of white mold after a few days, then the cleaning was very pour. Regarding the penetrating oil in the beginning for loosing screw, you can try the DIY version of penetrating oil. This contains 50% Aceton, mixed with 50% Automatic Transmission oil/Power steering oil (red colored oil). The Aceton has a very good capillary effect, and Transmission oil/Power steering oil contains lots of cleaning additives, thix mix makes it one of the best penetrating oils you can get. You mix those in little oil handpumps (the ones that look like the oil pressure light in your car :-) ) , a good shake before applying and you are good to go.
So I have an old fleet wood 12 ef … it worked when I tested it and I cut a half of stick of pepperoni through it.. when I got home I took off the blade/guard, and sharpening mechanism and now when I try to turn it on nothing happens. Where would you start?
This is off topic, but would you be willing to do a networking video. I have very little knowledge about networks and I saw on LinkedIn that you have your A+ certification. I would greatly appreciate it!
thanks for posting! I'm working on a Berkel right now, but power is not making it through the control board/pcb/transformer. Motor runs when voltage applied directly... any suggestions? thanks!
@thelonelandlord unless it's the latest, these all run off 120V mains. The power switch is a known problem. Connect a lead to Neutral - near the cord, and work your way towards the power switch and motor if you keep getting 120V then reverse, connect to 120V Line (black) and probe the neutrals all the way to the motor. - of course all tests should be done with the blade removed.
I know I am probably in over my head LOL my grandparents gave my mother their Berkel meat slicer from my grandfather's restaurant when he retired. My mother kept it in her kitchen and uses it two or three times a year for the last 10 years. She called me about a week ago and said I flipped the silver switch up and it doesn't come on and yes dummy it's plugged in LOL. What would be the troubleshooting technique for the quick things to look for to figure out why there's no power to the motor? The outlet is hot. The blade is under tension. It has the silver toggle on the right and then a two rubber push button for on off that are colored white or sort of a opaque clear with a red power light
Or just IT topics that a beginner biomedical should know. I know in one of your previous vids you talked about how you think junior biomed’s should get their CompTIA A+ cert. I have no knowledge of IT. I guess I might know some of the hard ware questions but that’s just from my electronic classes. As far as networks and software I’m totally in a funk for those I feel.

I've got a old fleetwood AS 275 slicer I'm working on and can't figure how they got it together.

@@shaneboyd8788 Always check the fuse and power switch
Disregard… I had the pin for the blade to tight.. soon as I loosened up that back pin it turned on 🤦♂️

Is there a finished video? Would like to see the finished slicer.

@@BetterBiomedChannelthanks - it’s an older unit. I was confused why it has a pcb at all? The switch is wired in low voltage to what must be a relay.

How can you get a stuck shaft out
Which shaft? The linear slides for the thickness or the slides for the slice tray?
