I feel like obsessing over appearance is something we're plagued by as society in general. I've recently re-watched Vanilla Sky and thought it addressed that very well. Building your self-esteem entirely around physical appearance and self-image is a trap a lot of us fall into, especially when we're young. But in the end, without a spiritual foundation we're vulnerable to collapse whenever anyone even looks at us the wrong way. Kudos to you, it's one of the toughest and most vicious battle we all have to go through at some point. It's so liberating to just not care.
On a deeper note, you are NOT your vessel (body), the driving force behind the vessel is the spirit, having said your appearance should not take precedence over your overall self-perception, confidence stems from being secure in one's self, how do you attain self-assurance, simply by becoming more acquainted with your true self, getting back to your virtues, those CORE values that define, dictate and govern who you are as a spirit and lastly accepting and appreciating one's self in it's entirety, meaning your flaws and all, but always seek to improve upon your imperfections to become a better human being, so the event those imposing thoughts tend to fester or become intrusive, which is what it means for someone to pass judgment, you'll have already gained the strength to endure which comes from self-assurance or self-confidence.
I don't know how I ended up getting recommended your videos, but thank you. There is not enough videos like this out there, the algorithms show us what it thinks we want rarely what we need. Stay awesome.
i've got to say that in fact looks do matter, i lived both sides of the coin from relatively ugly to somewhat handsome. it did boost confidence though the perception of how people treat you for looking a certain way left me with a negative opinion of people and still i struggle with that
I understand. However, it seems like that “confidence” you had was still coming from outside of you, such as compliments and feeling accepted by others. The confidence which I am talking about is knowing who you are and accepting that fact EVEN in the face of contrast☺️
Added to my playlist: "Becoming Better." Thank you for this!

i would imagine that people who have always looked really good reach that conclusion much earlier, specially women
