After making the pudding, lay a piece of plastic film wrap directly on the surface of the pudding and let it drape over the sides of the bowl. Make sure all the pudding is in contact with the plastic wrap. This keeps the air out so that a skin won't form on the surface. Then chill it overnight. It has to be fully cooled when you put it on the also-fully-cooled cake.
The cake will always rise. You should just take a long bread knife and level off the top before adding the pudding layer. If you would have let the cake bake longer to get the inside done, it would have burnt on the outside. Cut the recipe in half or use bigger or more pans.
I personally like strawberry pie (or torte) over cake. Strawberries are awesome no matter how you use them! 🍓🍓🍓

Your friendly pro baker here. Invest in a hand mixer. When you cream the butter & sugar you want it to be a lighter color because this step adds air to help the "rising" process. Also when you bake cakes please don't scoop or disturb them...lol You are knocking the air out of the cake making it sink instead of rise. This is why your cake looked darker and was denser. You are correct that it needed more time in the fridge. Maybe let it sit overnight next time you attempt it. Other than the scooping of the partially baked cake that made the baker in me scream good job!

Sloppy slap dash methods in the kitchen backfire more completely in the baking process than in other types of cooking.

What is the difference between a "Kuchen" and "Torte" in Germany?.It´s simple is basically the baking difference.
Baking "kuchen"by using a sheet or baking molds. And you bake the toppings with it.
"Torte" you add the toppings, fruits for example afterwards and its made with a lot of whippcream and fillings to become a fluffy textur. "Torte is for hollidays or birthdays, because you need more time and ingredians.

    • @V100-e5q
      @V100-e5q 3 года назад

Torte is like building a wall: you put bricks and mortar together to form a structure. Brick = sponge cake, mortar = buttercreme or other fillings which solidify when cold.

Mit dem Rührgerät dauert es 2-3 Minuten und schaumig bedeutet die Zucker/Buttermasse ist fast weiss und das Volumen ist ca. ein drittel mehr als zuvor und fluffig. The endresult looks quite ok eventhough the coulor of your dough shows me that this is not completely baked thru. If you want a better result stick to the recepie its that simple.....

The ready-made ones have simply stayed too long on the shelf. And in order to preserve it there is no moisture in there any more. So if you do your own sponge cake it has to be like the cookies ones. And fresh from the oven it will be still somewhat moist. Just like all dough. I separate egg white and yellow. The yeallow sugar and butter gets thoroughly mixed first. Then the whist wisked nearly stiff with a machine. With a ladle the yellow part will be carefully mixed under so that the white does not loose all the air that is in it from wisking. So only slight movements to mix the two batters well enough.
To make the pudding keep it shape it needs to cool down fully. Also it should be poured when stil warm. Otherwise you will destroy the cured parts inside it that have already formed. It should cure completely in the final form.

    ...and it's a success.

Hallo Deana and Phil! I know this question is unrelated to this video, but I am from Germany! My boyfriend and I live in USA at the moment and we are looking to move back to Germany. How is the Corona situation down there? Would it be difficult to move there now? And are you able to go if you are not vaccinated? Thank you!

Is it really strawberry season in Germany already? All the strawberries in the shops here in Vienna are imported from Spain or Greece.

lol funny video! The hearts and the cake looked good though and the pudding is a great match with strawberries.
But after realizing you had used too much batter, you could have baked it and just made a nice Erdbeertorte. :)

Strawberry cake sounds out of the world delicious...LOVE strawberries....and cake is wonderful,of course...just wished there could be more sugarfree alternatives-recepies out there for desserts like this...That cake has a heck of alot of sugar...thats the bad part...not good for us diabetics, and those that arent can become with that kind of food...very unfortunate that. One have to remember that the strawberries will by its own give sweetness to the cake. But it looks lovely, and Im sure,it tastes that as well..Personally,I would have prefered whipped cream there instead of the pudding over the cake, but,im sure it was good this too. I would have liked to see you guys doing this with reduced sugar too.

First try was strawbarry cake Bollywood style: everyone was dancing untill suddenly 💥🍰 the cake appeared.🤣🤣
Try to add more philadelphia and less pudding to get a firmer consistancy.
Looks great for a 1st try.
    Greeting

Question: would a recipe that works in the US work in Germany or is the elevation there different and then of course it won’t work?

I want to say: Interesting ...
Some very unusual techniques here (fork instead of a whisk, scooping out half baked liquid dough for muffins ...)
I think "interesting" is the right word.

The Rezept is good, but the Kuchen needs to "set" longer in the Fridge, for the Pudding to congeal. Cooked Pudding takes longer to set than instant. It looked beautiful the way you made the pattern. Mahlzeit!

Give it another try. In this big form the butter needs 45-50 mins in the oven. Put a toothpick in the cake. When it comes clean out the cake is cooked threw....
