Yes, low crime rate is important to me I have PTSD. I moved abroad and I feel safer in Turkey than I did in US. But I’m coming back to Wisconsin because of friends and family.
I lived in Rhinelander and Sugar Camp, Wisconsin in the 70's. Both are nice communities with wonderful people. The Oneida county Courthouse with it green Tiffany glass dome is so beautiful especially at night all lit up. I left to go out of state for college and decided to stay in Texas, but as I grow older the Summers are becoming unbearable. Though I live in the beautiful Lake and Garden District if Dallas in the White Rock Lake area, I miss the natural beauty of Wisconsin. Yes, the winters can be harsh especially in the Northwoods, but living in town makes it easier. Wisconsin is just a nice place to live
I'm a resident of Wisconsin, 4 miles outside the 3rd largest town population, less than 1000 people, in this county. We view a couple of those on the list as undesirable given any of the named aspects of the cities mentioned such as crime. We have no crime. Litter is literally a big deal to us....drop your trash and we become a kicked hornets nest. It's beautiful, safe, inexpensive, very rural and comfortable. I retired here, on the young side for that, and keep very busy
Hello. My husband and I are retired in S Nevada and wanting to move to Wisconsin after visiting his daughter,SIL, and young granddaughters in Janesville. They had moved there 2 1/2 yrs ago and totally love it…and so did we while on our visit. My husband is NJ born and raised and I’m California born and raised AND we both are small-town mentally and emotionally. We need this move…it’s time. I’m searching to buy and find myself asking anyone from WI lots of questions. Thank you for letting me share and for your comments.
Lived in Badger State for many years. Love these visits to communities I am not that familiar with. Only thing I would ask, is that you ask a native Wisconsinite for proper pronunciation of some of these city names, such as Menasha and DePere ... thanks again 🙂
Being in Janesville, I am not hating on Beloit but I think Janesville has less Crime than Beloit unless we are only talking about Beloit Township. Yes Beloit Township is nice.
@@RavenLuna89yep, even people that live in Beloit don’t feel safe when it’s nighttime in certain areas. Janesville is much safer, but this world is so crazy things can change. But Janesville is much safer than many cities in US.
Moved out of Rockford twice because of crime. We are again living in Rockford and moving to Alabama shores permanently now again because of crime and idiocy of democrats destroying this state . Democrats sacrificing American citizens for illegal foreign nationals to cheat on elections.
I’m sorry you had to deal with the crap of Rockford. It is a toilet full of crime I’m reading….I’m in the Las Vegas area of Nevada and it’s 100% the exact same thing. Prayers.
Property taxes are very high compared to other states. The lower cost of overall living, not taxing SSA & military pensions offset higher property taxes
My brother moved to Indiana. He was bragging about low taxes. Then he had to register his car. And the sales tax. And the monthly bill for his garbage pickup etc. The point is you're going to get it one way or another.
About a decade ago I dreamed about moving to Wisconsin. We used to own a property in Edgerton and I know Janesville like the back of my hand pretty much.
These are all nice places to live. However, I prefer towns half the size of those in the article. I’ve been in all of the communities in the article but as I said I much prefer those in the 3,000-6,000 population size. Some that I likes as I traveled in my job during my working years were Ripon, Waupaca, Mayville, Chilton, New Holstine, Sauk City, Richland Center and several others that are even , in my opinion better places to live and be engaged in the community. My top three were Mayville, Waupaca, and Ripon.
One caution on this video: Some of the scenic drone views do not represent the specific area being spoken about. One example: In the DePere segment, a view of the river with a rail line running alongside it is definitely not the Fox River in the DePere area. Otherwise, as a Badger born and bred (and St. Norbert grad), I enjoyed the piece.
Hi I really enjoyed your Video. The quality was good, the content was excellent. I am looking for exactly the information you have me. I found the video very helpful and I made a list of my favorite of your favorites and I'll be looking today online. Thank you ☺️ I'm from Chicago now living in AZ looking for me summer getaway.
My fiancé and I are considering moving there. Looks affordable and safe. Is it? Safety is big for us but budget isn’t very big unfortunately. We’d like to buy a manufactured home in a year or two in general area
I'm in Wisconsin and when we have beautiful weather my wife says l wish it could be like this all the time. My reply is, "yah, but then everybody would want to live here". Winter seperates the wheat from the chads.

In the early eighties I was in Menasha and gagged due to the air pollution caused by the paper mills. That same year when I was in Stevens Point I could not wait to leave due to the barrage of college beer drinkers invading the down town bars. I live in one of these towns. Nice short review. But keep in mind they showed pictures of summer. Winter is tough this far north. Its long and cold. Winter stretches into march, and its gloomy and cold all winter long.
lol, last time I checked winter officially ends March 21st so that would be appropriate. But yes, winter gets tiring around here, the constant cloud covered sky and low temps are a drain.
Winters are harsh and can last as long as mid April. The winters have been unusual for many years. When I was a child if it didn’t snow before my birthday it would absolutely snow on my birthday. I remember one winter it snowed in October 1 day and it did melt quickly then after Christmas it snowed and the snow stayed until mid April. My birthday is November 10th, but past few years no snow before or on my birthday.
Cold Winters? Light up that fire pit! Nearly every home in these areas have or you’ll have installed, a nice indoor fire place. Lots of outdoor fun year round if you’re willing to spend time doing it. Every family member will want to vacation at your place too! Everyone from Milwaukee gets excited about an “Upnorth” visit. Dozens of lakes, trails and hunting!!
