the game has changed. the true #9 role is slowly becoming a thing of the past. wingers cutting inside and popping off shots are the new "strikers." Messi and Ronaldo are perfect examples of the winger turned scorer.
For those that are saying RVP is lying, watch Raul and Vinas interview on the Arsenal channel, they said it themselves that the past management was poor and let a lot of contract run down to their final years. DON RAUL said it himself

Let's not forget fans pays thousands to be able to watch the club playing, whereas the players gets paid hundreds of thousands to play for the club. So a bit loyalty goes a long way. The prime example would be Francesco Totti. I am sure RVP would've loved the same endings like Totti, so would all the Arsenal fans. But he would have to settle for less pay and no league wins in his life. RVP is a far too ambitious and less sentimental person for that to happen.

RVP, a gentleman and a true professional. Watching Utd during 2012-13 season was an absolute joy. A fitting end to a wonderful season topped off with an RVP hat-trick against Villa (3-0) to win the EPL title. The second goal of that hat-trick was the pick of the bunch; a sublime volley from a through ball over the top by Wayne Rooney was a thing of beauty and skill. I'm grateful for the time RVP was at Utd, I only wished he would've come earlier.
Despite of how his marriage with arsenal ended he still made the best moments as an arsenal fan during our decline and it was good while it lasted the man was a genius with a hammer of a left foot !
I'll never hate him for leaving the club. He wanted to win things and he knew that Arsenal couldn't offer it to him. Plus what he said, Arsenal didn't offer him a new deal.
Top 4 for years, with cheap players. That new stadium ruined the whole club. Debt, no big signing policies, profit over big achievement, wenger managed to keep such a hard challenge with such a small team, yes he makes some mistakes in terms of signing players. But with that amount of budget, there was never really something to do to be a title challenger, if there's anything to blame, i'd blame the board, idk if they even care about the club or not. And gazidis... man even ruining ac milan rn
He only became one of the best strikers in the world 1 season before he left arsenal. Before that we had faith in him and helped him to grow into the striker he became
I get the impression RVP isn't opening up entirely on why Arsenal never offered him a contract. It might have been something he said in those 'meetings' he had with Wenger and Gazidis about the club's ambition and probably demanded the club to sign X, Y, Z players to compete for the title. Not sure but after a season like the 11-12 season, you'd think the club would have tried to keep hold of their most prized asset.
I still remember that Van Persie's goal against Spain in Brazil world cup 2014, where his flying header equalized the score 1-1 for later in the 2nd half Spanish defence was destroyed by Van Persie and Robben. What an unbelievable football match
He's always a gunner to me. Shouldn't have let him go (like we've done with so many players). He Definitely stuck up his middle finger when he more or less single handledly won utd the league the next season. RVP is still an Arsenal legend.
It's good that RVP came back to Emirates and said the Truth. Maybe it wasn't his fault entirely but also the old regime under Wenger and Gazidiz. -Arsenal fan
I remember his transfer to United was predicted to be a flop as he was “old”, had only a left foot and was very injury prone. Arsenal fans said it was no loss to their team. I am shocked to read how “upset” they all were. Up till the last day of the season he was still hoping to stay at Arsenal. Then the phone call from SAF on the last day of the transfer season....the rest is history!
The day he signed for United … was truly heartbreaking for me, he was the reason I got into watching English futbol and eventually becoming an Arsenal fan.
I am a Liverpool fan. I have been waiting to see RVPs interview for such a long time. Thanks to bt sport for hiring him. He’s one of my most favourite players ever. He was so special in his prime. Arsenal fans can’t really be mad at him cause he still gave 8 years of his life to this club. Keep it up RVP.

I'm a huge RVP fan. Arsenal fan and half Dutch so I've always followed his career. However there are alot of things he leaves out. RVP was asking for more money not a renewal. When players started earning 200k+ Robin wouldn't resign. Arsenal were still paying off the stadium and the board didn't want to give him what he was asking for. Man U agreed a 300,000 deal and Arsenal sold United the Premier league title for 24m. RVP also stated many times that he wanted to win the league which is something he didn't think he could do at Arsenal, rightly so at that time
Arsenal’s problem is they only have two or three good players at a time. Van Persie and Fabregas, then Sanchez and Ozil, now Lacazette and Aubameyang. They need a whole team of world class players to win titles.
Can't really blame him, Arsenal and contracts don't mix!!!! Should have fought for him, was having a amazing season that year. He basically carried Arsenal for his last couple of years at the club.
ima arsenal fan and RVP had ever right to leave, couse arsenal was selling they're best players left to right and arsenal didnt have the ambition to win trophies ,so i salute u my man
Van Persie is trying to get back in Arsenal's good graces. He left Arsenal to pursue a Trophy, which he got. But once his career ended, he realized Man U fans never looked at him as being one of their own. He was just a pawn piece to them. The fact is Van Persie's best years were at Arsenal. If he had stayed, he would have been viewed as an Arsenal legend. He would have been praised for many years way after his career was over. Now look at him. In my opinion, an FA trophy with Arsenal would have given him more glory than a Premier league trophy with Man U.
It's not that hard, he left because he wanted to win the title. If we showed a little bit of ambition and spent some money to improve our squad then maybe he would've stayed. Why should he stay at a club with no ambition and not win anything when he could win a pl title at another club. He could've left earlier, but he wanted to change how arsenal did things and told them to improve the squad so they have a better chance of competing. Obviously arsenal didn't want to spend any money or improve the squad and van persie new we weren't going to change our ways and show intent to win things, so he left before it was too late.
RVP at Arsenal was one of the best, most lethal strikers on his day. We found it so difficult to replace him, but hopefully now with Laca and Auba we have the cutting edge we lost back then.
It’s interesting how 4 different players ( Patrick Vieira, Adebayor, A. Cole and RVP) had the same reason of leaving arsenal ”they never offered me a deal”
I must say I do miss watching this guy in the PL. he done things as a striker that others can only dream of doing and made it look effortless. Fantastic player
The fact of the matter is that Robin was very ambitious and he was very outspoken about it when he was interviewed when he was interviewed by Dutch national media. Arsenal were selling their best players and were not willing to upgrade contracts during that time. Which is why Robin decided to look elsewhere. He wanted to win trophies, which wouldn't be possible anymore, because Arsenal was losing a lot of quality and determined to think they could manage it with talents from their own academy plus transfers not worthy of wearing the kit at that time. So I don't blame him for leaving Arsenal. Just look what happened to Arsenal after he left. It kind of justifies why van Persie left.
Van Persie last two seasons at Arsenal and his First season and United was simply unforgettable legend 💯💯

Robin was an incredible player and underrated imo. Still miss him at United!
I think he's rated well
When he speaks, I can hear the anger in his voice.
It is surely there. He really wanted to win the league, albeit with Arsenal
Yea, the way he says the side of things private shows that he probably would have stayed. But he respected Man Utd as well, who gave him a chance to win the EPL.
Funny. I don't hear any anger.

For those that are saying RVP is lying, watch Raul and Vinas interview on the Arsenal channel, they said it themselves that the past management was poor and let a lot of contract run down to their final years. DON RAUL said it himself
Share the clip in which Raul categorically talks about the Van Persie case
Yes management was poor doesn’t change the fact that he refused a new contract and the lil boy in him wanted United.
That doesnt mean arsenal didn't want him. Anyone who believes RVP right now is simply an idiot. Yes the old regime were stupid to let his contract run down BUT he was offered a new deal, besides why would Arsenal extend his contract in those injury prone years? Dude missed whole seasons! He simply didn't want to stay because Arsenal didnt match his ambition to win the league and he made that clear at the time. This new story is complete bullshit, no club is retarded enough to NOT offer their top goalscorer a new contact. Wether the player accepts the contract or not is a different story, which RVP clearly didnt.
yup
He wanted to win the league and with Arsenal and Arsène Wenger it aint happening. No hard feelings tho
Van Persie was just breath taking for Arsenal.. he was my hero growing up as a teen supporting Arsenal from 2005 onwards.. i would always debate fiercely that robin was the best prem striker if not for injuries.. and when he for that injury free season and proved me right it literally broke me when he left.. sad day but he deserved that prem title.. it was what he deserved as much as it hurt
Joe Cole is spot on. How many contracts they let run down. Mugs. RVP is 100% right also

@@gunner0479 I won't begrudge RVP pursuit personal glory. Most arsenal fans still love RVP. The amount of wonder moment he brought to the club is enough in itself. But I think a lot of fans would have worshiped a player whom loyal to the club like the fans themselves.

I’ve no hard feelings about RVP leaving. We were going nowhere under Wenger and he was carrying the team.
Still can't blame him if true. Man wanted to compete and management didn't give a toss about winning.

-Arsenal fan
As an Arsenal fan I have no hard feelings towards RvP. I stand by that firmly.
They wanted to replicate signing Sanchez, but seems he's already retired.
The day he signed for United … was truly heartbreaking for me, he was the reason I got into watching English futbol and eventually becoming an Arsenal fan.
Van Persie's style improved a lot over the years in England from when he first stepped into Highbury
Keep it up RVP.
he only gave about one and a half, two years to us. The rest of the years he gave to the infirmary.
Still remember being country side where i was accessing internet once in 2 days and i saw this news couldnt believe it ..even when he played it never sunk he is a man utd player... Always made it feel like he was an arsenal player... Amazing goals and a trophy in his first year ❤👌🏼👌🏼
I'm a huge RVP fan.
RVP also stated many times that he wanted to win the league which is something he didn't think he could do at Arsenal, rightly so at that time
Cant blame him.. so many arsenal ex players which were very good end up in rival team..
The club management failed short..
He was injured for ages, had 1 good season where it was "now we have Van Persie" and left.
He basically carried Arsenal for his last couple of years at the club.
ima arsenal fan and RVP had ever right to leave, couse arsenal was selling they're best players left to right and arsenal didnt have the ambition to win trophies ,so i salute u my man
He told wenger and gazidis he didn't agree with the direction of the club and they didn't offer him a new contract because they got offended

Robin van persie the best striker gifted in all angles ...the best premier league ever produced
