I am one of those people that thinks Cilantro tastes like soap. I didn't like it until I had a Cuban black bean soup. (Limes, bacon, and cilantro) www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/dave-lieberman/black-bean-soup-recipe-1916368 (hint: add more lime) After I tried the soup I didn't notice the soap tastes as much, I enjoyed cilantro.

I tried to grow cilantro 2 times but didn't work yet. I must have done something wrong but I will try your way and see if it works. I will let you know in few days what the results are.
So glad I found this video! First time growing cilantro and I made the mistake of growing it outside after I bought them at a nursery. Unfortunately they are starting to bolt. But now I can harvest the seeds and follow this and hopefully have a better outcome!
You can also plant it outside. It’s best to do it in the early spring or fall, so the weather it's still cooler. It will last longer indoors with a controlled temperature for sure. Good luck! 👍
12% of the world is genetically sensitive to cilantro , including me, but my hubby LOVVVVES the stuff. The mice ate ours out of the garden this year, so I will show this to him to try indoors... great idea!
i like how light green your Cilantro seems to be. yes, i was wondering about the temperature regards to ideally qualify a good grade range or results. maybe harvesting earlier if temperature is with higher range. lower range temperature can maybe be better for longer lasting light green windows of flourishing? thanks so much for sharing❤
I love Cilantrol/Coriander. It is a delicate herb and does not like harsh climate or direct summer sun. It likes moderate temperatures, and rich well-drained soil. It grows just as easily in water (atvleast 8" deep bottom container) as it does in the soil medium. In water, the seeds can be started on a thin layer of moist cocoa peat bed. It needs good feeding and nourishment. Therefore, adding few drops of seaweed (or fish emulsion) to the bottom reservoir, after changing the water every week, will promote strong roots and healthy shoots. I start new batches in my kitchen every 2 weeks, and never run out of the fresh herb even in winter.

Serious question. Why do people call the seeds coriander, the dried herb coriander but call the plant cilantro? Is this the proper name for the plant. In Australia, we just call it all coriander, but I have noticed other countries use both terms.
Here in the States, we use coriander seeds as a spice, you grind them into powder and it gives great flavor to curries and other dishes. The leaves grown from the coriander seed has a very different flavor and you use them quite differently. Cilantro, the leaves are mainly used for making salsa or for a garnish to sprinkle the chopped leaves on top of a finished meal. Calling them both the same would cause confusion. (Dried leaves are still called cilantro, not coriander, only the whole seed or ground up seed is coriander) “Honey, could you pick me up some coriander at the store?” Spouse returns with coriander seeds. “Honey, how am I to make salsa with these seeds?” 😜
My cilantro keeps dying. I grow it indoors in an 8 inch pot under a grow-light but it dies every time anyway. Cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Am I over-watering it?? How much water to use? Is it too much light?
Perhaps it’s the seeds? I’ve read you shouldn’t use corriander seeds from the spice section at the grocery store because they are typically sterile due to processing. Be sure your seeds are for planting. 🌱
This is great, but it assumes that there's no cat in the house to ruin your plants :) I wish I could grow cilantro, but the temperatures outside always kill my cilantro plants and the cat always inside destroys them or eats them :)
You could try planting them outside in the early spring or fall. The weather should be perfect then. Yeah, if you have any animal indoor, that's a little hard to control. Best wishes! 😄
@@CiCiLi that's exactly what I've tried to do, and I've just come to the conclusion that this climate where I live is aweful for cilantro. My basil plants do wonderful here but the cilantro just withers and dies no matter what time of year I try to grow it...
Hi Carl, after 6 days, when green leaves came out. I then moved the growing cilantro to where it will receive about 6 hours of sunlight. But can be shaded during the hottest part of the day.

We do a taste test in class and this year half my students had the gene which makes them taste soap.

Yes, absolutely. I'm growing some right now. As long as the room isn't too cold. It will be ok.

How do you water the cilantro? I water them and they fell off and died.

You 4got 2 tell us how to cut them, or pull them, and do they keep on growing after I cut them or do I have to do and repeat the whole process again?
You can harvest by cutting the top off. The leaves will grow out again. By eventually, the flowers will come out and go to seeds.
I have grown cilantro in my garden, very few leaves and it went to seed quickly. I will try the planter method with more seeds.

Yeah, cilantro bolt easily if the weather is over 78 degrees. Spring and fall are good seasons to plant them outdoor.

A tip for people germinate 80-90 degrees they will have sprouted about 1-2" tall in 3 days vrs her 6days

You must live at somewhere pretty warm. Basil loves hot weather.
Check out the popsicle sticks around the plant.

Leftover cilantro go bad quickly in the refrigerator so I want to grow the my own cilantro plant. You make it look easy. I know it is not. 😂
