What a great old home movie! Thanks for sharing that with us! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
love the houses with their porches and awnings. Some people know how to spend their money.
Great video Scotty! Thanks for sharing!
Those homes are outstanding. I could ride around for days just looking at those old houses.
me too
Love the houses! I learn a lot from your recordings, thank you!
You were an adorable lil guy! I really enjoy old photos and films. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Scott, I am not a reseller just a collector that loves you videos and learn alot from you. I have one particular Goodwill that the "lounge lizards" hang out all day. They go crazy when the carts come out. I too find it more enjoyable when they are not there. I have met some resellers like you that are a joy to interact with, in fact I helped one of them find more pieces to a dish set they were looking for. We had a great time! I loved you trip to Kentucky and Ohio. I live in southern Columbus, Ohio and shop at alot of those places you and the gang were at. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you for understanding how I feel. Honestly, I avoid thrift shops when I know for sure that the resident "lounge lizards" will be holding court all day long. It makes it no fun for me because there are certain "staple" items that they are ALWAYS going to grab from the carts as soon as they are wheeled from the sorting room. I NEVER hang out in stores and even if the fresh carts are wheeled out while I'm shopping......I refuse to make a madd dash like a wild animal who has not been fed in days. I don't mean to sound harsh or judgmental but it really gets my goat. Thank you for your kind words.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 I could never imagine you sprinting to the rolled out carts Scott. 👍🥂
Our local Salvation Army used to be my favorite, but it is now owned by the lounge lizards!
Hi Scott another great shop along video always injoy the history you tell and all the useful information you gives us on the pieces you look at what a cool home video thanks for sharing always injoy watching take care
Sweet film clip. Adorable.
Beautiful homes tour. Houses were so big and the lawns were immaculately manicured.Thank you for posting these.
Can't miss a video because we never know what you'll bring us! Thanks for sharing and I'm with you let me see it on a map.
You bet!
Thank you Scott! You always have such lovely happy videos 💗
Glad you like them!
Lovely scenes from the Jersey shore. Thanks so much for taking me along.
Glad you enjoyed it
There was my mom's coffee pot; wow. Which I have now. Love the song, On the Beach With You. Sea Bright: what a lovely town. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoy your vacation hope you find beautiful treasures.
Thank you!
Very informative! ❤️ - And I LOVE the music you play! Ga-roovy! 😁
Thanks for the giggle re: Goodwill Gatherers... I laffed out loud.. so true,,, about them hanging out like that.
Fun shopping and beautiful scenery. I love those little two and three story beach front cottages.
Well weren't you just the cutest little tyke! You DID get a bearskin rug picture, just without the rug! LOL. Have a wonderful vacation.
Lovely video Scott!
Epic video, Scott. That opening was amazing. Such wonderful memories you must have.
Growing up in Jersey....the shore is just a part of your life. So blest to always be a stones throw from the north Atlantic.
Loved the video. I especially liked that little ditty "on the beach with you" 🎵🎶😀
Glad you enjoyed it
My goodness what a gorgeous day! The sky over those mansions was beautiful!
Yes it was!
Hi Scott what another awesome shop along video always injoy the history you tell and all the useful information you gives on on all the treasures you look at what a awesome home video thanks for sharing take care
What a fun video Scott! Brought back memories going to the beach with my mother. We'd spend the whole day there, munching on a cooler full of goodies, and pepper and egg sandwiches 😋😊
Thanks so much for sharing 😊
That is awesome!
Thank you for the lesson on the Jersey Shore , a place I would now like to visit 🌊 . Sweet memories w/ family on the beach ⛱️
Glad you enjoyed it and I am delighted to show off a bit of the shore that most folks have never seen. Come for a visit!
Thank-you for filming while you were driving.Wonderfully green with houses of quality The amazing theatre.
Glad you enjoyed it. Also just to mention that the camera is held fast against the glass with a plastic thingy. I always have both hands on the wheel. Thank you for watching Helen and for always taking time to type such lovely comments.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 I know you well enough to realise your would use a mount. Its a joy to watch the variety you post.🤗🤗
Love that beach footage of you, at the beginning! ❤
Scott! U are so entertaining and informative.. thx for taking us along. 😊
The home movie is terrific
Lovely Beach in New Jersey. Used to visit it often when I stayed in Danbury, Connecticut for a year. The part of the Beach i visited was beautiful .... Even in the Winter !
Very cool! Let us know if you are ever back in the states!!!
@@oldcuriosityshop265 Yes, of course I'd let you know ! Loved visiting New Jersey, adored the place. The Fantastic Fish Restaurants there will live with me forever ! Very Happy Days and Happy times 🇺🇲👏❤️
Scott .... "The Dudes" 😅🤣😂 ..... I have never, ever heard a better explanation of that Catagory of individuals described in such detail from anyone !!! They are just Exhausting ..... As so often with you Scott, i just threw my Head back laughing with you there 😅👌😉
Oh yes Mark......I hear you......that category of "dudes" is quite tiresome.
Love traveling and shopping with you. Always fun and educational. 🙂
Glad you enjoy it!
Love seeing you and your family ❤ you and Vinny should open a brick and mortar store together, he could have a 50’s and up section and yours could be 40’s and back ❤😇🙏👑💪 It looked like operation guy on that building or the pringles guy 😂😂😂😂
Unfortunately not a productive day for you, but I love the views of the water & sky!
Good evening Scott ❤
Loved the geography lessons and the ride-along - especially the Gatsby-ish houses! ❤ Pretty pink dish, too!
I agree about travel clocks being loud.Hooray for mobile phones
Your daddy was a handsome man just like you. Does it glow? 😂 Can’t wait to see the boardwalk. I love a good boardwalk. Thanks for sharing your travels.
Scott! You nailed it with the name “Goodwill lounge lizards”! 🤣🤣🤣 I do not enjoy suicide mission thrifting either. Love the pink dish you managed to get. I have my great aunts in amber but LOVE the pink. The Jersey is beautiful. I had no idea it was so vast. The old homes were spectacular to see. You were adorable. Loved the old beach film.
I appreciate the maps! Thank you for taking us shopping, and the nice drive.
This was great. Brings back memories of growing up in NJ. YES, show the viewers how beautiful NJ is.
You were in my area and as soon as I saw you were in Hazlet I thought, “Oh , why didn’t Scott go to Atlantic!”
I was premature. 😀
So sweet those memories “down the shore” 🏖️. Being a Maryland girl I understand; it’s in my DNA as well ⛵️. Have never ventured beyond Cape May myself, so thoroughly enjoyed this field trip. Another home run Scott! 🎉!
Down The Shore!
❤ Superb love, loved this video Scott. My treasure came today safe and sound and yes, I see why the shipping job was a big deal, oh my goodness. Thank you so much.
Wonderful!
Jersey Girl here, great adventure Scott.
My sweet memories were, when we had enough sun, my Aunt Carol and Mom would get us in the station wagon and we learned about antiques on Rt 9, I would dare to say I knew every tiny antique shop, flea market and special places, where we were told, “put your hands in your pockets and look with your eyes “, by the age of 12. Still can spot any piece of Ironstone in a blizzard, and pieces of pastel butterfly Mc Coy 😂😂. Have a great week, keep finding those treasures. 😎
Hey jersey girl!!!!
There’s a Jersey Shore in the middle of Pennsylvania!
What beautiful scenery and historical bldgs!! Wow!! Huge big homes- Mansions!!!
I enjoyed the maps and ride along. Those Goodwill lounge lizards...how tacky!
Loved the old movie ❤️. I think you showed it once before awhile back. So lucky to have it 🙂. We really do have some beautiful parts to our state 😉.
We do Donna!
Loved the old footage of your family at the beach. Laughing 😂 imagining in my mind what “goodwill lounge lizards 🦎 look like😂. Loved the pepper shaker. Someone on you tube suggested putting old hat pins in the holes of single shakers. ❤️your videos dear Scott
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for another fun video! I love following along with you while you shop. It is annoying that there are so many who will descend on the goods before your average Joe can take a look and grab treasures for their homes. I hope you have a great shop/vacation!!
Thanks for watching!
Those homes were so perfect looking they didn't look real!!
Nothing like a working vacation. 🤣
😂😂😂😂the Goodwill lounge lizards
What a beautiful picture of you, your dad and brother! Living in PA my whole life, we used to go camping twice every summer at the shore. Mostly in southern NJ but also down the east coast. Now we are moving to SC! Looking forward to warmer winters. I’ll still be following the Old Curiosity Shop!! TFS 😀🌸💙
I do love maps. My great uncle and his wife, of fond memory, had a little place in the Winslow Township area which they called "Dunwishin'". Wonderful tour and fun thrifting, thank you.
Amazing, thanx for the geography lesson. How little those of us 'westerners' know of our eastern states!---Wow, who lives in those stately homes???---Never heard of Wonder Bar!
I am happy to show a bit of the "Jersey Shore" that most folks don't think about or know exists. The TV show was fun (I guess) but really didn't tell the story of the lovely Jersey coast. Thanks for watching, Alana.
I really had my own vision of The Jersey shore. I was greatly misled by the fine makers that produced that show.😄
Hi Scott. I have been watching your videos for a few years now, you are a hoot! I look forward to them every time you post. You make me laugh every video. Lounge Lizards, we have them at the Salvation Army. I dont go often because of them. Love Love Love your thrifting videos (the underpants one especially) and many others, too many to mention (oh the naked Barbie dolls was another good one). Just thought I would let you know. I live in southern Ontario Canada near the warter, well not that close but I just wanted to say warter. Thank You for making me laugh!!!!
I am so glad you enjoy watching and thank you for such a nice comment.
Ahhh....the front porches on those gorgeous homes! Thanks for taking us with you!
Just love the shore views!! TY Scott.....and beautiful Salem at the end.
Enjoyed the trip, Scott. Had to laugh at you losing your diaper, but your dad handled it well.
I think the lounge lizards should not be allowed to "loiter". Makes it unfair for the unselfish folk to find nicer things. Oh well, we do the best we can. Love your channel, Scott. Its always filled with good things, and I get an education too!
Just loved this video, relaxing, fun, loved the map parts, driving while showing those amazing homes. Loved both pieces you bought too. Thank you for sharing with us ✨✨✨✨✨
Coppertone advert of a baby losing there bottoms.Jodie Foster was the model apparently.1960's.Yes its on You Tube.Happy memories.
Fun video! It was thrilling to see the gorgeous multi-million dollar homes! The beaches look so inviting! Your home video was so much fun! I assume that was your Father and brother with you. Which beach is your favorite? 🏖
That was my father and older brother. Ocean City will always be my favorite.
''Lounge Lizards'. I'd call them 'vintage vultures', and how annoying a behavior is that! I enjoyed your geography lesson along with the hunt today. As a California 'girl', everything East Coast is fascinating to me. BTW, I wish you had purchased that lawn chair repair kit. The Vintage Trailer crowd LOVES finding stuff like that to create a vintage camping vibe on the outside of our 'canned ham' home-away-from-home on wheels.
Remember Asbury Park as a child. Nothing like walking on the boardwalk in the evenings.
Beautiful drive reminds me of Biloxi & Gulf Port MS along Gulf of Mexico. Never wanted to visit NJ went there as a kid but think I do want to visit the Trift & 2nd Hand Stores!
Thank you for the lovely neighborhood tour, well manicured and lovely homes. My husband loves Cape May, however I spent my childhood summers at Cape Cod.
Cape May is lovely!
LOVED! this video. My family were Point Pleasant lovers, my whole life. The Atlantic Highlands Goodwill was ways one of my favorites....but that was 5 years ago now. I don't know if you are familiar with the big thrift store "My Unique".....Unique Thrift. There is one in South Plainfield, one in Union, and one in Elizabeth. Last time I was there, they had gotten very expensive, but they are huge, and the Elizabeth location, often had OLD things. Thanks for another great Jersey video.
Thanks for sharing!!
I’m in Wisconsin, on the Mississippi river bordering Minnesota. So I have no idea about the jersey shore, much appreciated the geography lesson 😊
Oh I would LOVE to see the Mississippi some day!
What lovely footage of you ( cute bottom) with you brother and Dad, what a treasure! I don’t blame you for your rambling rant over the “ lizards” , there’s nothing that can be done about it though. Just know we know you are too classy for that! What a hoot, asking you if pink depression glows!😂. Loved the map references too, thanks so much for that! Great tag along as usual! 👏🇨🇦
Love the beach been going down since I was a wee little one
Thanks for taking us on your. Jetsey shore trip. Amazing houses
i am familiar with the Hazlet store. You are absolutely right about that bunch that hangs out near the door the carts come out of. There is also a woman, dark curly hair, who is there with them every time I've been -- which is not in months.
Love your pepper.maybe next time you'll look for a new cap.Thsnks for the tour
I prefer single lamps. I've never bought a pair of lamps and I collect art glass lamps, Lotton specifically.
Scott are the beautiful homes private residences? They are just beautiful and so well maintained. Thank you again for sharing. Nothing like that in the Nevada desert.😊
Yes they are!
What a cute kid you were 😊
Love that pinky pink! I just picked up a Lancaster footed bowl in the same pattern.
I wish i grew up in afamily like that.
It certainly is precious to have video of yourself as a baby. I dunno why I’m so amazed by that. Lol I was born mid 70s and the earliest video we have is from the 90s.
🥦🟦 Salem reminds me of my son's cat, Rosie, who is asleep on the foot of my bed. She's in her canvas storage bin which is labeled, "black cat".
I drove by your area when my daughter was in submarine school in Groton. She did her 5 years and is beginning her 3rd year of college. My, how time flies.
Omg Scott, thank you for coming up my way!!! You should have gone a few minutes up to keyport to A Family Treasure. Great prices there. I was just there in hazlet at the goodwill and I agree those people are always there. But I’m glad you went to the one in the highlands. Better things there. Thanks for checking out my area. Don’t forget next time hit keyport and Red Bank. Btw I have the same footage of me on vacation at the beach in Italy showing the loss of my diaper in the early 60’s!!!
I LOVE it! Thanks for the tips and I hope to run into you when I'm next "up Jersey"!
@@oldcuriosityshop265 - I’ll be happy to make your acquaintance. Please let me know when. I’ll try and meet you and thrift and give you more tips. Fabulous video you took and that is Ocean Ave not Drive!! Lol!!
Took my children to Avalon, it was fun!
Those same guys are in our Goodwill bins. Probably about 20 in the group. They work assembly line style. One bunch grabs armloads of items and piles the carts full from the new bins (clothes) as another group sorts those items. They throw the useless stuff back and they do that all day. They also use up the majority of the carts. I mostly resell clothing.
On a nicer note, loved your home video!
It's so special those special moment's can be captured in film!!! Fun day with your Dad and brother!! 🤭 Something always happens, 😂 such as the slip of the diaper. Just precious!! Looked like you had a loving Dad and he loved his boys!! NJ looks like a fun place. Thanks for taking us along!! Take care... 🏄
Yes! Thank you!
I grow up at the Jersey Shore in Point Pleasant moved to the Maine Coast in 2003 and my sister still lives in Point Pleasant NJ
Hey Scott, Guess what i learned that i dont need a Paypal to shop with all you guys. So guess is starting to shop.... I will be on the look out on your videos! Already bought my first item from Dave and Tammy the other day... So excited to see your Deco and MCM stuff you bring to your sales :)
Thank you Gerald! Yes......even without Paypal, you can check out as a guest. Super safe and easy. Thanks for supporting David and Tammy.....they are lovely!
this canuck says woodbury heights is the best
I call them the ‘fresh basket buzzards’. You just have to laugh. We would see Mary’s car at the estate sale, she had already cased the joint and tried to talk her way in days before. Peeking in all the windows, ringing doorbells, talking with all the neighbors. She called the phone number listed in the classified ad. Her story would always be, I just can’t attend that day. I am burying my Mother that morning. Poor Mary. I remember quite well Mary’s estate auction. I gazed into the sky that day and shouted, ‘Oh thank you Mary, I always wanted one like this.’ Mary has all the thrift stores she can shake a stick at in that great junk store in the sky. R.I.P.
Rickey.....I LOVE it! Mary is my nemesis for sure!
That was ocean ave in Deal, NJ with the large houses then Allenhurst and Loch Arbor. All three have multi-million dollar homes.
I quit going to a local Goodwill because there were men that would follow me as I tried to shop. Some would lean over my shoulder to grab something off the shelf. If you touched anything and put it back, they would immediately pick it up. I got the feeling that they were resellers without a lot of vintage/antique knowledge and were just there to make a buck. I found it unnerving and vintage/antique shopping is my fun time.
You see on the map Willingboro I lived across Rt 130 edgewater Park. Yea that's home love your videos.
Very cool!
Fun video! Loved seeing those grand homes along the shore. More geography welcome. I never experience anything other than the highways on my way to Maryland for work :)
It was so nice to see you Dad playing with his boy on the beach 🏖️. I visited the Jersey shore a couple of times during the 80s and 90s when I went down to Elizabeth New Jersey to visit my brother who has lived in New Jersey for 15 years.😊 In the 90s hi became a police officer and in the year 2000 he moved to the island of Puerto Rico and today he is a homicide detective 😁.... I laughed so hard when you said the Goodwill lizard 🦎😂🤣
Well I enjoy from Europe,,!
But I feel that people have a reason to go out to make a difference in their day ,, it is a lot even if they are not your type,,!!!!
❤
Hazlet! my son lives there. I drive out from Michigan a few times a year, and never once have I seen the Goodwill there!. He knows I go thrifting almost every day, so we'll see about that place the next time I'm there. Every time I'm just about to his place in the summer, all of NY decides to be on the Parkway at the same time as me, heading for the Shore.
It's where Toys 'R Us used to be, if you remember that store.
Oh yeah! The book bins! Mean men they descend upon the new bins like flies onto fish! They will grab books out of my hands! I then become not too nice!
Oh, droopy drawers, I forgot to say your Dad was a hunk 😆
I once was standing next to my cart at a thrift store and a man started rummaging through it. I said this is my cart. He said that it was a good thing HE hadn't found anything in it then !😡
Looking forward to seeing the Asbury Park boardwalk again since all the recent revival I have been reading about. Except for a couple of times passing through I haven't really seen Asbury Park since the 80s.
