  • Psalm 1 gives us a contrast between a good person and an evil person. What is central to the difference between the two is how they handle the Word of God. The evil scoff at it. But those who delight in the Word of God-who meditate on it day and night-can stand strong during the tough times and be a light in the midst of darkness of the world.
In this message, Pastor Lutzer helps us to understand how we can learn to meditate all day-24/7-on the Scriptures, and why it’s important to do so.

I love quoting scripture. A preacher told me when I was a teenager that some day I may not have a Bible and would have it in my head.

Meditate - to focus, concentrate on with intended purpose. Job loved the Word of God more than his necessary food.

    Psalm 1:2-3
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
@8:13 It is really taking from the word of God something that you can have in your mind all day. Ask yourself questions like this, is there a promise to be believed? does it teach me something about God? does it tell me something to do? It is the person who meditates in the word of God day and night… that prospers.
Praise the Lord! I think this point @8:13 is the key for this sermon.
Thank You O God for Your Holy Word, which teaches us not only how to live holy, but also leads us in the way we should go. As Jesus said,
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Thank You, O God, that You have shown us the way in which You make us righteous. Help us Father to submit to You and to always let You have Your way in us one step at a time, one hour at a time. Please grant us faith to be used by You for Your glory?
You, Father, are the Lord of heaven and Earth. You will someday triumph over our enemies. All things are possible with You, Father. You only want what is best for us always. Help us Father, to choose to suffer as Christ suffered? Help us to receive suffering as a gift from Your hand and to have the same attitude as the Lord Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane? For it is enough, Father, to know that someday You will ultimately bring us to victory which be for ever. Even though we may not receive victory in this life, help us to be content to know that someday we will. Let this be the life of faith that we live? And let this be the source from which all of our good works flow, Father? For we belong to You, Father, and You love us.
We love You, therefore, Abba Father. We love You Lord Jesus. We love You Holy Spirit. We praise You for Your word! Help us O God, I beseech You, to trust and obey, no matter what, and as difficult as it may be, when there are droughts? Because we are sinful people, Father, and we need You every hour. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
