My girl gifted me that Casio watch 2 years back and I actually did not know that many people are looking for this watch now here in my region and people do approach me about the watch and I have no idea how she brought this. Now I feel that I have some rare watch.
The Skmei illuminates the lcd elements in color rather than illuminating the background like Casio does. I've only seen the lcd illumination on cheap watches, which is strange, because it really is a better way to read the watch in the darkness. I have a watch which illuminates lcd segments in different color as well, a really useful feature.
I've both and I like the Casio more. I don't like the non functional round area of the Skmei. The name "Casio Royale" results from the similarity of the words "casino" and "casio" and the reference to James Bond.
I just bought the casio royale and last night I did the initial setting up, at the initial setting the date was 2011, which probably means this watch sat somewhere for the last 10 years and the battery still working, pretty amazing for 17 dollars I paid for this little gem on Ebay
For the prices these are good watches if its something your gonna beat up I'd rather spend the $10 on one of these than $20 or $30 on a casio, these have a better backlight and skmei has alot more different options than casio does theres lots of cool styles and I've read their metal watches are actually metal and not silver painted resin like casio thats a plus in my book and for the price of 1 casio i could get like 3 of these
Better backlight but bad dutability, i'm a SKMEI user since 2017 and i have 3 SKMEI watches, all of their backlight can't last more than 3 years, and now i move to Casio
I picked the Skmei up from Ebay in the UK $7.00 fabulous watch for that price and I prefer the blue lume I've had it about a month it has been faultless.
I have the casio but the case broke, thinking of buying the skmei the one with stainless steel case, pedometer and compass. Perfect as a beater for work
How did your metal Casio World Time break? I think the metal case is too rigged and tough for a plastic case. I got the plastic strap version for that reason. They have a fabric version as well. I am wearing the gold or bronze version.
SKMEI is better than Casio in only one thing. Backlight. Confirmed. But it's interesting how the durability of the screen is, because those with diodes are more durable than with illumination.
Nice review I really enjoyed that. I saw my friend at uni had the Casio so somehow got to this video, and I'm ordering the fake one now. I think the fake one looks better because of the light and it says the say instead of the useless map

Awesome review. Gonna have to go with the casios light bulbs. I like the orangish loom. Also the skmeis light is a battery killer and isn't all that readable when the batterys low. Oh and you forgot to compare the glass. They both have mineral glass but the casios is flat as it should be so it gives a flat reflection. The skmei has a glass that's kinda wavy. When you look at it carefully from different angles, it looks really cheap. But yeah, they had to cut costs from somewhere so no map, just one alarm and a slightly cheap overall feel. Btw, any idea if the skmeis water resistance work?
It's because Casio is close phonetically to casino, and because as you said it resembles a watch that was in a bond film, that's it that's all, as usual great episode, even if I am four years late to it... Better late than never hahahaha
I have two Skmeis rebadged as Mambo for the Australian market. They are simple cheap Casio-Royale homage style watches with a lumed backlit which is slightly better than my Casio Royale round, which does the job for a single light, unlike the twin lights on the Royale Square.
Those of us who own the Casio, are sick of people calling it the Casio Royale. It's a ripoff itself of another watch. Really, though, this comparison should of been been between the AE-1200WHD-1A and the Skmei 1382. Battery life will get up to 10+ years, if you turn off the energy wasting beeps, alarms, don't leave the stopwatch or timer running needlessly (yes that uses extra energy), and don't use the light (big energy hit). The best feature of the Casio is not it's World Map or Radar dial (useless chartcrap wasting screen real estate) but that it has a 24 hour timer, very useful to remind you of an ebay auction you want to bid on about to end, so you can stop what you are doing and snipe it. Also, the metal rattle band is very nice - spend the extra money for the metal band version, you'll be glad you did. The plastic band makes your arm sweat.
I think that the DATE & TIME on this CASIO AE1200 watch should be a larger size. There is some wasted real estate space on this watch. The DATE and TIME on the CASIO model W96H-1BV is a much larger size. I can see the TIME on it easily from 1 meter away ! The CASIO W96H-1BV is my favorite digital watch because it shows the TIME, DATE, DAY and YEAR all on the face without having to push any buttons for selection. You look at this watch and it shows everything all at once.... though the CASIO AE1200 watch is better when traveling to different countries. I do like the CASIO AE1200 and decided to buy one because of it's many features. I am going to modify it with the all metal SKXmod company watch kit.
I bought an AE1200 recently, and although I do like it, I do have at least one beef. The alarm and countdown timer finish 'peeps' are so high pitched and faint it generally makes them quite difficult to notice, thus defeating 90% of the usefulness of these features. I viewed the waveform using audacity and found it's roughly a sawtooth wave at about 4091 Hz. That's just a teensy bit below the highest C note on a full size piano. I'd be very interested to know if the alarms on the SKMEI are more readily audible than those of the Casio. I'd much rather have one useful alarm, than 5 that I cant hear.
El luminous would be electro luminescent right? the one difference between the skmei and the casio. There is a skmei that actually has the world time as well (1338), looks more like a mix of a f91w and a casio royal.
I also just found that the Skmei 1382 has 50m WR, increased from 30M, and adds world time, compass, and pedometer. It also upgrades the dummy analog digital dial to actually function like the casio.
I've got my AE-1000, which is the same module as AE-1200 in September 2012. Battery is still original, and kicking. The only good thing about SKMEI is the backlight, Casio module is unbeatable, hands down no contest. They can copy the watch 1:1 in looks, but not the heart. Just recently bought an AE-1200 very happy. Casio price vs quality is unbeatable
Random question. I've scratched the case on my ae1200 a lot and was just going to get another one but the price here is now £40 (~$50) where the SKMEI is only £10. Would the case from the SKMEI fit the module and faceplate of the ae1200?
Update: I did this, it works really well. The skmei won't fit in the Casio case but it's a really easy way to renew your ae1200 case (and strap). The skmei is marginally lower build quality but unless they are side by side you can't tell the difference. EL LUMINOUS comes off easy without damage using isopropyl alcohol.
@@arpitsethi3026 fits well. Pushers work well. Use the Casio back as the piezo buzzer is in a different place on the skmei. Casio back fits the skmei case well and I have tested (submerge 1hr) and it's water tight.
Hey! Can somebody tell me if the measurement of the movements are exactly the same? I screwed up the case of the casio and just want to buy the cheaper skmei to insert the casio movement into the skmei case. Will it work?
It's a shame SKMEI doesn't offer a metal case. That would be the only reason for me to get a knock off. I'd simply swap the movements into the metal case and ditch the silverpainted resin one.
I have both actually got the Skmei first liked and bought the casio don't like the flashy thing where the digi clock should be but the Skmei has actually faired better than the casio all the paint has rubbed off the casios case and the lume is green not blue on my Skmei both are silver qish one was black!
I can't help but notice that you managed to pick the cheaper SKMEI 1299 instead of the 1373 or 1382, which is more in line with the Casio AE1200. The 1373/1382 are the same watch, the only difference being the band. The 1373 has a silicone band and the 1382 has a SS band. The differences between the 1373/1382 and the 1299 that you chose are... The 1373 has world time, the top left hand dial actually counts up the seconds in tune with the digital readout, it also counts the seconds in stopwatch mode, the 1373 has a digital compass, it has a pacer for walkers or runners so they can pace their run with the beeps, a step counter that the Casio doesn't have, a nicer backlight than the Casio, larger numbers than the Casio. Granted, it only has two alarms, but I can't remember the last time I needed five alarms. It also has a "perpetual" calendar (2000-2099) and an hourly chime. What it doesn't have is a 10 year battery, which if we're going to be honest, neither does the Casio. I have another Casio watch with a 10 year battery, actually it takes two, that only lasted four years. Just for laughs, I'll be generous and say it sat around in warehouses, shipping containers, warehouses again, and store inventory for a combined total of two years, meaning it only ran for about six years, but more realistically five years before it needed a battery. I actually have the Casio AE1200 in black with silicone strap, Casio AE1200 in silver with SS band, and the SKMEI 1373 black with silicone band, and I wear all three relatively equal amounts of time. If you're going to do comparison videos, at least compare similar items. Compare the $20 watch to the $15 one, not the $5 one. This video was slanted in Casio's favor, but if you had compared similar models, then pound for pound, the SKMEI model gives more bang for less buck.
Good Video. Ive been searching for comparisons between SKMEI clones and the original. I wear a Royale daily and it's an awesome watch. SKMEI watches are interesting as various models and Brands are cloned.
Is that true, you can’t adjust the bracelet on the skmei? I like the watch because look nice and is cheaper than the casio but I have small wrist and I’m worried it will fit to big on my wrist.
I have a Casio Royale on metal. Might be best to get it in a resin strap. I've got a six and a half inch wrist and I am constantly adjusting the metal strap, sometimes two to three times a day.
I love my Casio, but the metal strap is too big or too small depending on the weather. I have to regularly change the micro adjusters on the strap which really p#sses me off. But I have a few canvas and leather straps where my wrist fits in between holes. I just ordered a Galaxy watch, I wonder if they have a Casio Royale watch face or a real James Bond Seiko face.
Why would you knock off a $20 watch 😂😂
No pal. Mines was £30.
I can buy one for 10 from AliExpress but the shipping will take a whole month.

I bought SKMEI for $10.99 because I either destroyed or lose my digital watches regularly.
It's a shame SKMEI doesn't offer a metal case. That would be the only reason for me to get a knock off. I'd simply swap the movements into the metal case and ditch the silverpainted resin one.
Is casio build in metal case?
Thank my friend, a very informative review. Subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
I have both actually got the Skmei first liked and bought the casio don't like the flashy thing where the digi clock should be but the Skmei has actually faired better than the casio all the paint has rubbed off the casios case and the lume is green not blue on my Skmei both are silver qish one was black!
I've been wearing the casio every day for 7+ years and not a speck of paint has worn off
The Skmei has the better lume in my opinion.
Skmei has in same case normal watches with real compas, pedometer. Model 1382.
I can't help but notice that SKMEI watches are still garbage. I bet you love Invictas too. Thanks for watching!
Compare the casio royale with the skmei 1338 at least please! Not the same watches at all
They're the EXACT same watch!...lol.
i liked your video, i heve one skimei 1335 is a good watch but the casio is better both is great whatch
Casio forever.
I have the Casio Royal, only £15
Like the skimei 1335 more and the skmei is 70% of the casio value, în romania. Skmei is cheaper
These watches are made side-by-side in China by some company. Casio buys model X & SKMEI buys model Y. There's no knocking off.
They're not made "side by side" and this is a total knockoff...lol.
Good Video. Ive been searching for comparisons between SKMEI clones and the original. I wear a Royale daily and it's an awesome watch. SKMEI watches are interesting as various models and Brands are cloned.
Thank you sir!
Skim-EE btw.
Seth Rogen reviewing watches? I'm all in!
Is that true, you can’t adjust the bracelet on the skmei? I like the watch because look nice and is cheaper than the casio but I have small wrist and I’m worried it will fit to big on my wrist.
I have a Casio Royale on metal. Might be best to get it in a resin strap. I've got a six and a half inch wrist and I am constantly adjusting the metal strap, sometimes two to three times a day.
you can adjust the bracelet onwatch repair shop
You can easily adjust the strap on the sekmei and it’s simple to remove links,
I love my Casio, but the metal strap is too big or too small depending on the weather. I have to regularly change the micro adjusters on the strap which really p#sses me off. But I have a few canvas and leather straps where my wrist fits in between holes. I just ordered a Galaxy watch, I wonder if they have a Casio Royale watch face or a real James Bond Seiko face.
Casio Ae1200 any day of the week. Skimei. Lol.
that's the SKMEI 1335, make a comparison with the SKMEI 1382.
I guess they named it that way cuz Casio Royale,
Rhymes better with Casino Royale
These two watches are probably made in the same budget in China, but Casio from Japan has product control over it.
Helllloo, today we'll be comparing Casio with the Sukmei😍
-or as call em.. skeemy😐🤷
