I had the best time last weekend. I enjoyed the shopping, The Gathering and even Sunday breakfast. Like you, I got to meet lots of lovely people. I really hope we get to do it again next year. I shall look forward to seeing your fabric haul. I took my fabric to show my sewing group last Tuesday and I think I have persuaded them that we need a shopping expedition to Dewsbury. xx 😁
Alex, your dress looks absolutely beautiful on you! The fabric is lovely and the garment's construction looks perfect. Your blouse came as a surprise but looks so fun, bright, and totally artistic. I leads me to think that should you wear it when you are busy being creative magic will happen 😊
Hi, Alex, I just had to leave a message to say how much I like your patchwork shirt. It has turned out really well and is right up my street. Enjoy wearing it. 😊
The dress is perfect in every way on you. The colours really compliment your hair colour. I wouldn't change the ties on the dress, but if you made another one, you could make longer ties. I'd probably make them long enough to tie at the side. I showed my husband the shirt, and he named the store where I will be going to get the bandana, possibly today! I would do exactly as you did, picking out the hem line, then overlocking the edges. If I ever get back to England, and go to Yorkshire, my first stop would be the fabric shop to have a cup of tea with the owner. What a fabulous experience that would be. Tea and fabric, my two favourite things.
Gorgeous dress...that fabric!!! Really fun shirt. I feel super guilty if I buy clothes too. The justification is if it is fabric that I would not be able to find or details that are fabulous and beyond me bothering to try and do!!! xxxxxx
Great makes Alex, loving the bandana shirt! Have you seen the new Style Arc Celeste shirt & Claude trouser, they look right up your alley! Love Pattern Emporium and bought the smitten jacket as soon as it came out! I’ve got some mid weight needle cord coming to make my first one. Have a great week 🌼
I just love your channel. You are so gifted at both sewing and talking into a camera. I understand being too busy to sew and record, but I look forward to each and every one of your shows. Have a great week! Your dress is lovely, thanks for sharing the deets.
I’m in love with your bandanna shirt Alex and the dress is a triumph, a perfect wrap dress but just a little bit more interesting and such a lovely shape especially the way the front lies beautifully flat, unfortunately I’m short waisted so I would definitely have to make even more of an adjustment and I don’t think I’ve enough experience yet. Anyway I’m starting my Smitten jacket tomorrow and I’ve a feeling lots of people will be doing the same. Such a perfect jacket to wear with dresses that have a waistline or high waisted trousers x
Hi Alex, I just love your shirt, tempted to copy it.!! Your soho dress looks gorgeous on you, fabric is great. You always amaze me with your choices of fabric. I love the new jacket from PE, I think I will have to get it. I have been sewing up some tops/jumpers for autumn/winter. The Unwind from PE, the Mila. Look forward to seeing your fabric haul. Cheers 🇦🇺😀😀
Loved the vlog - as always. I’m looking to make an easy to throw on jacket for Spring so will investigate Pattern Emporium. Happy birthday and thanks Alex
Happy birthday 🥳 leave the dress as is. It's perfect. Don't worry about buying a jacket - it leaves you lots more time for other sewing. Great inspiration as usual Alex ❤❤
You looked fab in your dress at The Gathering -it was good to meet you ! Paper patterns always feel so decadent don't they. I'd not mess with the ties unless there's an issue with function as in the print they aren't visible particularly. 😊
OMG your dress is stunning and looks perfect to me. Shirt is fun too- don’t know where you found the patience to unpick all those bandana hems. Hope you had a lovely birthday and didn’t feel too guilty about your purchase. I know how you feel though - happens to me when I go shopping too. Probably the same for everyone who sews.
Love love love your shirt. You have inspired me to make one, Thank you. I totally agree with all you said about Pattern Emporium Patterns. Kate always does a fantastic job. We are so lucky here in Australia to call her “OURS”. Happy sewing. X
I love both your makes as usual. Fantastic idea to recycle lightweight colourful scarves/bandanas to create a shirt. I know I've mentioned before that I have to keep covered up in the sun. What a great shirt it would be for that. Worn open over a tank top seems pretty perfect. I may have to hit up a couple charity shops looking for cotton or even silk scarves.
Sorry to disappoint you Alex, but yes I do think you should make the ties longer! I think the dress is lovely and I have that pattern so I think I’ll be making a version too. Diana
I love your wrap dress and the bandana shirt is wonderful! You have inspired me, I’m envisioning doing the same with some coordinating fat quarters that are languishing in my stash!
I love both your makes, but particularly the shirt as it's both colourful and very wearable. I think the ties on the dress are fine, but maybe make longer ones next time you make this. A little hook and eye in the bust area would work well. I would also consider sewing down that facing.
Your dress looked absolutely gorgeous and I definitely did not notice any belt loops, missing or otherwise. The ties look just right. A beautiful make that fits and suits you perfectly xx
Two more beautiful makes! I wouldn’t undo the ties this time - too much work, especially after unpicking the denim skirt the other week! 😂. Maybe put a note to lengthen the ties if you make it again. ❤
I absolutely love your bandana shirt Alex! And really admire your patience at unpicking all those hems 😀 I think it'll come into its own if we have another hot summer. Lucy at my local yarn shop, Lucy Locket Land in Seaburn, also offers a cup of tea on entry - it's a wonderful thing and every shop should do so. Life would be greatly improved if they did 🫖Happy belated birthday too!
Love the dress and fabric and didn't notice the ties being short, the bandana shirt is fab. I'm travelling to Manchester for the half marathon end of May and would love a couple of fabric shop recommendations for city centre, staying in Salford and should be able to break away from group for a few hrs, thanks
There are very few fabric shops in Manchester 🙁. The only one in the centre is Abakhan which on Oldham St in the Northern Quarter, it’s a pretty cool area so great for people watching too ❤️
Thanks Alex, looking forward to visit, last there as a penniless student for 3 months in 1990, only place we could afford to socialize was a place called band on the wall, I think, probably not still there but we loved it
Both projects are lovely! I love Maison Fauve patterns and the Soho dress is the only one from that collection I have not sewn yet. I want to make a sleeveless version for summer. This is first review I’ve seen for the Soho, so thank you for the info. The bandanna shirt is awesome! I have a big stack of bandannas in every possible color (it was a phase about 10 yrs ago) and this would be a great use of them - particularly since I’ve been looking for a bandanna print lol. I guess I already have it! Thanks again Alex.
Thanks for introducing pattern emporium. Don't think I've come across them before. The shirt you made is great! That looked like a fun project. And lengthening the ties seems too much effort for the benefit?
Great to see you back! ❤ And Happy Birthday!🥳 Your dress was a triumph! And the blouse, too! Despite having a different silhouette and colour palette, I always trust you pattern reviews! Thank you...Andrea xx
Two real hits! The dress is gorgeous , do you need someone to tie it! Personally I wouldn’t bother with longer ties unless you are going to keep thinking about it The shirt is genius
The fabric for your Soho dress suits you SO well! And the design looks great on you. 🧵 I really like your bandanna shirt…so fun! 🧵 Happy birthday Alex!
Absolutely love your dress and fabric. It's such a flattering cut and colour! Also such a great idea for the scarf blouse! Could u have cut the seams off rather than unpicking? 💕
Happy birthday 🎂 Loved both garments, but especially the bandanna shirt! I tend to use them to tie my hair up or as a neckerchief and have never thought about stitching them together to make fabric. You've given me quite a few ideas now 💡
I think the ties are fine, Alex. Love the shirt - and like the look of the PE pattern too. I'm interested to know what you think about the inside of the fabric showing on a wrap dress? Yours doesn’t seem to, but I'm about to make one where it might well, so I worry about using fabrics that are printed on just one side. Am I just being super picky where no-one else would notice? If it suits me, I might wear it to a wedding. Thank you for a really interesting vlog as always.
I'm regularly caught out by white fabric on the wrong side showing, it happens with shirts when you wear the collar open too. I'm trying to remember that when I buy fabric, except I don't always plan that far 😀. There's enough wrap over on this particular dress that it's not really an issue this time.
I said on Saturday how much I liked your dress, you looked great. Forget about the belt ties, if you are happy with it that is all that matters. No-one noticed. By the way, I loved the shoes.
Alex! I love the bandana shirt! I’m am 5’7” too and most sleeves on shirts are short on me too😡sometimes as much as 2” because my arms are longer than the norm. How many bandanas were you sent? I’m assuming some must have been a bit smaller than others. You are very pretty in green! Your dress fits well and looks stunning. Happy belated birthday🎉
Oh what a flashback for me. As a teen, I made a bikini from bandanas. So yes, this would be the perfect swimsuit cover-up. I think I need my own bandana shirt. Thanks!
Beautiful dress, leaves the ties, unless they really bother you and prevent you from wearing the dress. I love your bandanna shirt! I would have just cut off the hems. Thanks for your videos.
I like the Soho dress very much, but I don't think it wraps enough for my boobs to stay contained, being rather top heavy. I already have this problem with the Closet Core Elodie dress. No tie unpicking is necessary :-)
Love the fabric in the dress, you are right it’s perfect for you. Because of that fix the belt loops. But, more importantly do something about the wrap facing. It’s distracting and takes away from the elegance of the dress. Thanks for the video, missed my weekly fix.
Why do RUclipsrs feel the need to talk so much. I’m sure you have great ideas but I have to turn you off. I scrolled through the video hurriedly. The bandanna shirt was cute but I could take no more chit-chat. I prefer the sites that do not speak English, but are masterful in their ability to convey instructions in a succinct manner with the use of illustration and captions in English.

Happy Birthday, Alex! 🎉🍾🎂🎁🎈Unpick the ties if you think it's a good use of your precious time. Love the Bandanarama Shirt!😍
Hi, Alex, I just had to leave a message to say how much I like your patchwork shirt. It has turned out really well and is right up my street. Enjoy wearing it. 😊
No that dress looks absolutely stunning on you. The ties are perfect bc they don’t draw attention they just are
The dress is perfect in every way on you. The colours really compliment your hair colour. I wouldn't change the ties on the dress, but if you made another one, you could make longer ties. ooh do let me know how you get on
Lovely to meet you! Looking forward to seeing what you make from your new fabric.
Wow Alex, you look fabulous! You slimmed down quite a lot, really suits you! Keep up the good work X
Hi Alex, the dress & the ties look lovely. As you mentioned you can always do a smaller bow. Have a great week ❤
Gorgeous dress...that fabric!!! Really fun shirt.
I feel super guilty if I buy clothes too. The justification is if it is fabric that I would not be able to find or details that are fabulous and beyond me bothering to try and do!!! xxxxxx

Good to see you again! Love the shirt. What fun. I am a quilter and sewer so piecing is my thing. Happy birthday!

Your shirt looks fabulous Alex, great idea 🪡🧵💕
Just make the ties longer on the next Soho dress you make. It looks great on you! And happy belated birthday! 💚

Happy birthday 🥳 leave the dress as is. It's perfect. Don't worry about buying a jacket - it leaves you lots more time for other sewing. Great inspiration as usual Alex ❤❤
I think the ties look great as they are, but it’s your dress! 😊
Your shirt is fantastic . One of your best makes ever.
I
You looked fab in your dress at The Gathering -it was good to meet you ! Paper patterns always feel so decadent don't they. I'd not mess with the ties unless there's an issue with function as in the print they aren't visible particularly. 😊
I love that shirt! Chef’s kiss!
Love your dress, leave the ties as they are. As for the bandana shirt, it is amazing.
The shirt is fantastic. Much better than the inspiration! You look beautiful in the dress.
You look awesome in the bandana blouse, amazing x
That dress is stunning on you ❤️
Fabulous dress and fabric. Looks very spesh
Your bandana shirt is so cool!
Oh I love your bandana shirt Alex, that's such a great idea! 👍
Both garments love fabulous ❤
Love the bandana shirt!
Wow love both makes go you 🙌❤️💜💙🙏💚
Happy Birthday and many happy returns!
The dress looks fantastic really suits you
Happy Birthday Alex. Love the Soho dress fabric and pattern on you. Love the bandana shirt too, very productive
Awesome dress and shirt!
OMG your dress is stunning and looks perfect to me. Shirt is fun too- don’t know where you found the patience to unpick all those bandana hems. I love your content Alex! Everything always looks fabulous on you too!
Loved your dress Alex, you looked stunning. Was so lovely to meet you ! X
What fabulous makes Alex! You are always so inspiring, thank you so much. Happy birthday! 😊
Love love love your shirt. You have inspired me to make one, Thank you. I totally agree with all you said about Pattern Emporium Patterns. Kate always does a fantastic job. We are so lucky here in Australia to call her “OURS”. Happy sewing. X
I really love your all in shirt. I’m very tempted to try it. Always enjoy your videos. ❤
Fabulous and inspiring makes as always!
Don’t lengthen the ties. Just make a double knot and they will be perfect!
Fabulous shirt! I think I will have to copy your idea. I have the same pattern and have already made it up twice. Happy stitching! Caroline
What i did on my dress for the front not to gap or open. I made a button hole and a fabric button like my dress so now it hide everything! 😊
Lovely makes ❤ Thankyou for sharing. Happy birthday 🎂

Absolutely don’t change the ties. It looks fabulous. As does the shirt. I always appreciate your pattern observations.
Your new garments are absolutely beautiful! Don't change one single thing. I really enjoyed this vlog. Thank you for sharing.
Stunning dress! So you, you look absolutely fabulous in it! And I love the shirt on you too!

The bandana shirt is awful! I love mixed patterns and colors.
The new dress pattern, when put on an actual women, are nothing but embarrassing.
