Slipstreams was commissioned by and is dedicated to my dear friend, Claire Edwardes. With a brief of writing specifically for emerging percussionists my thoughts were focussed on what I’d like to impart musically on my younger self. A focus on quality of sound above quantity of notes; making the most of each moment, each thread; being playful; resonating something warm and true. These are the same things that I try to remember in my own performance practice now. - Bree van Reyk
